There is a fairly good selection of Italian tomato and marinated items to support the local Italian population. Prices seemed a little higher than what I am used to paying. A preferred customer card is required for sale prices. The store is conveniently close to the Appalachian trail so hikers are able to refuel. The surrounding Berkshire mountains make an ideal setting for the store.

You never know what you'll buy there because it's so insanely inconsistent - you might think you're in a reality show for Soviet Russia! Then there's all the role-playing YOU get to do! You get to try to find things because there's no one who knows where anything is - or if they carry it - or if they'll ever carry it again. AND you get to bag your own groceries and find stray carts in the parking lot (because no one does that job there). Don't bother making requests - they'll tell you right up front there's NO WAY they can do that (apparently Big Y corporate doesn't want ANY customer to go away happy - just tired, frustrated, and with ONE question on their mind "where ELSE can I do my weekly shopping?"

Eventually, she cut the ox tail for us but not before being rude about it (clearly irritated at the request, even though that's our understanding of what a butcher does). Next time we needed ox tail, we called ahead. The man butcher on the phone was confused as to why we were calling. He said we don't need to call ahead for ox tail and that in the future they can just cut the meat there. Next time we need ox tail, we don't call ahead. When we get to the butcher and ask for ox tail, the lady butcher said we should have called in advance. She pointed us to the prepackaged oxtail because she said she didn't want to cut any more oxtail (again, that's our understanding of what a butcher does). Not clear why it's made to be our fault for a lack of communication within the butcher department, and it's not clear why they can't cut meat for us. In each of these instances, we were the only customers at the counter. The meat is great, but the service is confusing and leads to frustration.

The delivery never came. Cancel the order reorder for expess delivery and showed in an hour. Not very reliable with there delivery times like before. And yes we always leave a generous tip.
