I was able to make it to a shell gas station n the outskirts of Pell City. Allstate roadside assistance could only find one company in their list willing to tow us 3.2 miles to a local garage in Pell City. They wanted $499, $399 after my $100 insurance credit. It took them nearly 3 hours just to find that as an only option... I declined that insanity and we decided to stay in a powerless vehicle overnight wrapped in moving blankets. It was snowing and dropped to 31 degrees that night. I submitted another request to Allstate at 5:50 am for a tow request hoping it would be less money and faster during normal hours. 1.5 hours goes by and I receive another message saying due to labor shortages in the area they were having a hard time locating a towing company. We were on a deadline to pickup furniture and return to our home in Georgia. I figured I would take it upon myself to find a towing company. I did a simple online search for towing companies near me and up popped Twin Creeks Towing. I called and spoke to a man who said he could have a tow truck out to me in 30 minutes for $75. Sure enough the tow truck shows up in 35 minutes after a call from their driver giving me the eta. I couldn't find a garage to get me in that day for repair. The tow truck driver said he knew a fantastic garage a couple blocks away from where I was originally taking it and they could likely get me in due to how efficient they are. Sure enough Express Oil Change & Tire Engineers on Martin St said they could get me in that day. Our tow truck driver even dropped us off a block away at Enterprise rental since it was the direction he was heading. A fantastic experience with Twin Creeks, above and beyond customer care, inexpensive, and fast. I can't praise them enough for how much time and money they saved me having to stay another night to repair my Honda truck, meals, etc. I tipped our tow driver extremely well for all he did.

The transmission shop wanted 2500 more to do the rebuild than AAMCO. 2nd time Brought the truck back home from Leeds. The truck was loaded backwards. So when it got home, the wind got behind the fuel fill cover and blew it off. ($250.00) to replace color matched. 3rd time to carry the truck to AAMCO was loaded while still in gear. I got the transmission is bad, but my yard wasn't.. Whatever method was used to offload the truck at AAMCO bent and gouged the driveshaft. (I have Pics) So far, The truck's transmission has been fixed and now going on the 3rd week waiting on a driveshaft that has been ordered to replace the damaged one. I have an estimated shipping time for a driveshaft and could get it overnighted, but its not my place to order the driveshaft that negligence broke. If the replacement driveshaft is not here by the end of the week, I will order one so (1) the truck will be fixed and (2) It can be moved out of AAMCO's way as they are crowded. Then I will be forced to go to small claims court.

I am from out of town so I went online for directions and saw credit cards accepted & open 24 hrs. After going to Court House and paying for car to be released Corbin's cost was $925 (cash only) & closing at 4:30, so $40 more tomorrow. I had Visa credit, Mastercard debit or Paypal. They explained, "reason we can only deal in cash is because our customers are not the highest class of people." Next day, clerk met me at door only to come out lock door. " It will be a minute". She then stood outside smoking for about 10 min while someone got their belongings out of a car, but then came back in before they finished saying she could watch on the camera. I handed her $1000 for the $965 and was told they didnt have change, I needed to go get exact change and they were closing soon. I commented on a cash only buisness with no cash and she said loudly " Look, I am not the one that went to jail." After reminding her I was not the one either, my son and I came up with exactly $965. I was then told to sign an ACKNOWLEDGEMENT "... that services listed were completed in a damage free manner, upon signing you assure there were no damages to the vehicle listed resulting from these services." After reading I asked to see my car before signing and was told no. I explained that I wasn't comfortable signing that I checked vehicle when I had not even seen the car.I was loudly told that wasn't what I was signing, it was just me saying car was released to me, and if I didnt sign, I was not getting car and she would close up for the day and it would cost more tomorrow. I asked for itemized receipt but it only said Towing/ Labor $965. Once outside clerks tone changed as she admitted not knowing what paper said, only doing as she was told so not to get fired. After getting home. I determined at $40 a day for 16 days, they had charged $320 to tow the car 1.6 miles. I paid release at court house. Later I called for a quote from Corbin on cost to tow a vehicle and was told $70 hook up plus $4 a mile. My relative reimbursed me all cost except for the humiliation I endured. If this is how people are treated when making mistakes, no wonder some can't ever get back on their feet.
