I will start out by saying I love this place! Especially Don (the owner). I've never had someone I've consistently gone to for my nails. I've always gone to random places for whoever is available, and I've always done acrylics. I first saw Don in January, I read some amazing reviews about him on Google saying he was a nail doctor/guru etc and really wanted to try him out. I went in intending to only get my nails done that one time as a sort of special occasion thing. When I was getting my nails done, he recommended I go with the European gel and use a product that he created that bonds to my natural nail and helps it grow. He promised me that if I kept coming back to him he would get my natural nails to grow. I kind of didn't believe him but he seemed very confident, so I figured I would probably be back another time or two. My nails had always broken/become damaged whether I've put gel on my natural nail, done dip powder, or gotten acrylics.. so I was skeptical. Well fast forward 5 months later and I'm still seeing Don for my nails! They are so beautiful and I cannot believe they are my natural nails. I've never had nails like this in my entire life!! Based on reviews and their website, they seemed to be great so I was excited to try this place. I called ahead to see if they did walk-ins and they said yes! But when I arrived, they seemed annoyed that I didn't have an appointment. However they still decided to take me. I asked about the prices listed on the website & they said it would actually be about $10 more plus gel is extra. Which is annoying, but fine. However even the "classic hand treatment" states "Nail trim, cuticle trim, hand massage and polish of your choice."... they literally rubbed a lemon slice on my finger tips, & put nail polish on my fingers. There was definitely no hand massage and the cuticle trim was not impressive whatsoever. On top of everything, the tech was just not nice and made me feel like a total inconvenience. A few other customers came in and seemed to be happy (I'm assuming they're regulars). Unfortunately that was not my experience. I just moved here and am looking for a good nail salon. I actually went to another salon 3days before visiting Herbal Nail Bar and had an absolutely horrible experience. From the moment I entered Herbal Nail Bar it was hands down one of the best salon experiences I'd ever had. Sophia was my nail tech and she was an absolute professional... she made me feel right at ease and was a pleasure to talk with while getting my SNS nails done. Melissa did my pedicure and was also amazing!! She helped recommend a gorgeous white, and the foot/leg massage was so relaxing. I came here with my mom and we both really loved the fact that this nail bar only uses organic materials & even makes their own products! We both came in for a manicure and then she got a pedicure as well, we also opted for a different technique of manicure than we have had before but they did NOT disappoint! I believe they used something along the lines of gel-x on us? Not 100% sure but be sure to ask about it when you go, I highly recommend as they didn't use the nasty chemical filled dip powder. This place is definitely unlike any nail bar I have ever gone to before and my mom agreed. I went here based on the reviews. This was such a disappointment. Some of their equipment was wrapped, yet other pieces or not and reused. The nail polish was splashed all over my toes. I cannot remember the last time somebody did such a poor polish job. I had to go home and clean off the tops and sides. A couple of my toenails were cut so short that the skin was ragged. I asked to slightly shortened my nails. They were cut all the way down and the length did not match on either hand. I was extremely disappointed, especially based on the fact I thought this might be the salon and my choice. This is what I told my hair stylist when I was seeking a new nail salon and she claimed this was the best. I am so glad I listened. I called on a Sunday to see if they were even available. Even though they aren't typically open on Sundays, they are open to doing appts apparently...so, in a jiffy, I got in on a late Sunday afternoon and I had the whole place to myself. They do walk-ins Monday through Saturday, keep in mind. Sophia and her team just opened this location. She brought me in and instantly had me relaxed. She had the gel colors nicely organized and displayed, and there was plenty to choose from. Sensual spa music was playing. I went with the Herbal Spa Pedicure--she whipped up the detox blend for me which is lovely combo of green tea, lemongrass, and rosemary. The herbal spa pedicure also comes with a red clay mask. I came in with my Starbucks but she offered me wine, champagne, or mimosa which is such a nice touch. The best part was the massage. She hit all my pressure points and spent probably 20 minutes total rubbing my legs and feet. It was like she had massaged my entire body through my legs. My legs became warm wet noodles in her hands. LOL. Of course, I wanted more so I was tickled to hear that I could come in just for leg/foot massage for $30 for 20 minutes. After moving here from a big city, it has been disappointing to not be able to find places that will just do leg massage where you pay by the minute so this is fabulous! Herbal Nail Bar is upstairs inside the JC salon (a collection of individually-owned salons), right above Caffe Milano. She has one of the larger spaces in there with full set of sleek mani tables and 4 very comfortable pedicure chairs. This establishment is dedicated to delivering authentically organic grooming. Not just in trendy name, but in actual practice. I indulged in a gel manicure followed by a green tea & rosemary hand & forearm massage. It's very aromatic and said to be a naturally anti-toxin treatment. The looks of it are quite funny with the tea pieces smudging your arms and a protective towel looking very barn-like fresh. But the results are silky smooth, relaxed arms & hands. I leaned into the massage chair as a competent and delightfully charming LyLy provided a pedicure. You may select the temperature of the basin that circulates in rainbow lighting through the water. Very soothing. A disposable plastic liner is discarded after each customer, and pedicure tools are broken out of a clean wrapper for each person. Very hygienic. One must look around the compact but efficient salon to appreciate the thought that went into each aspect of this business by Owners Don and Sophia. They have a child, so Don designed a logo with three leaves (one for each family member) unfurling in circular growth above a swirl of water. The live bamboo in the pleasingly white walled waxing room was nurtured by Don to it's 4 foot growth over 7 years' time. Other plants throughout the salon are live and thriving. Large graphics were chosen for the walls. The rose appliqué was carefully traced with an artist's scalpel so that the outline of the roses rather than a harsh, commercial straight border remained. Complimentary hot tea, coffee and cold drinks are available. NO glaring TV; 50 year old contemporary music is piped to make a 75 year old/aging clientele remember their youth. During my visit, Don noted that he researched towels and discovered that Egyptian cotton holds the heat better than other fabrics. He uses these to assure than a towel wrap will maintain it's heat. Ahhhh. Most interesting is the herbal bar where jars holding actual herbs are accessible for use by the technicians. Prices are a la carte. The moment you come into this place you feel soo relaxed. I tried the herbal treatment for muscle relaxation for pedicure. I am in Nirvana. My technician Sam is the best, he was welcoming, nice, and patient since I'm a laugher when it comes to my feet. The massage was on point. I was able to convince a lady next to meet to try an herbal treatment as well, she is never going back to normal treatment. A guy did my nails and feet (I think his name was Henry) and I had an ok experience. I wanted a manicure and pedicure while I was visiting Naples so I called Herbal Nails because they were so highly rated compared to other nail salons. He spent about 3 minutes sanding off my shellac on all 10 of my toenails with a dremmel sander - did not soak them or use any acetone - when I got to check out he charged me $5 to remove my polish, $50 for the pedicure and $22 for the manicure. He and I had spoken and he knew I was from Houston, not from here, and So he thought I was not likely tto be back. He even asked me "do I spend half my time here" and I said no I don't - just here for a family event. I think that he thought I wasn't going to tip him but of course I Still went ahead and gave him the standard 15%. I don't really think he earned much of a tip. He didn't ask me to get my credit card out before he put the polish on my hands. He said it was because I was getting clearcoat so he didn't need to worry about it. The massage on both my hands and my feet were almost nonexistent and I guess they don't use any sort of sugar scrub or callus remover on the feet. Pretty disappointed. I was looking for a natural salon that did SNS dipping powder, as that is what I am used to. I was shown the colors and offered suggestions that I wasn't fond of. I felt almost pressured to go with European gel, and know nothing about this. Also, it cost $75 which is outrageous!! Never again!! Like I said, came in for SNS and felt persuaded into something else without knowing the cost. How it lasts longer and more natural whatever. My usual SNS lasts like a month so that wasn't a concern. Don was very friendly and polite which was nice. He took his time. 2 hours to file, buff clean cuticles etc. I do appreciate the detail. My nails look nice and feel better. However, prices should be posted, I don't like being persuaded into other options when I knew what I wanted, filing wasn't so great and one hand is shorter than the other!!! I would rate 2 star on the filing and not checking each nail to make sure they are the same size. I also don't like the use of UV light when I told him I'm used to not doing this with SNS. I didn't want a redo as I was here already 2 hours and was in a hurry to go. My nails already had color on them and I didn't want to deal with more of this. 3 star on the friendliness and the initial nail clean up, 2 star for not attention to detail, filing and being persuaded into things I didn't ask for. My nails look pretty good, the polish was done well. But, the tech cut me twice to the point of bleeding and blamed it on how dry my hands and nails are. They are very dry and in need of a manicure, that's why I was getting my nails done! I get my nails done all the time and I've never had this issue. But the manicure was done by a woman (her name might have been Ana? It was two weeks ago so Im not sure!) and she was awesome! She was really nice, took her time, gave me a good color recommendation that I was happy with, and holy crap, it's been two weeks and these nails are still hangin' on STRONG!
