Very minimal COVID precautions, I almost left when I walked in and saw that no one was wearing a mask. Technicians put on a mask when working with a client while the remainder of the employees lounge without a mask. No hand sanitizer at the stations, no requirement to wash hands. Pedicure and no chip took 2 hours, nails desperately needed another coat but I didn't have time to stay any longer. Paint job was very sloppy (see pictures); color does not cover the nail. The UV light didn't work well which resulted in two nails being removed and re-painted which added to the length of the visit. Very disappointed. The staff was friendly. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would, the nail tech was in a rush to leave and rude. My nails look horrible, I asked him to fix and he would just touch it one time and grab things and say done. Peter gave me a regular manicure that has lasted well over a week at this point with no chipping in site (although they did continually recommend upgrading to a gel manicure which I had to keep reminding them I wasn't interested in) . My first time there. Nice enough elderly lady did my nails, but she was very slow. I asked for a no chip, and within 3 days all of my nails are chipping. I called the shop, and asked for reimbursement, and told the owner that I would send pictures, but she said the only way she would do anything is if I went back to the shop so she could see them. That couldn't work as I was getting on a plane. It was a waste of $40. I was in desperate need of fill ! So I walk and it's very clean and open. The lady who did my nails was polite and did a wonderful job expect for a lil crooked nail anyways not that big of a deal but theory who took care of my friend was very rude. She was sitting at the first desk and kept yelling at my friend saying if she moved anymore (she wasn't moving at all just a little fidget every now and again) she wasn't going to continue to do them & wouldn't fix them if they got messed up. Very rude. And on top of that she had to pay 60$ for something she didn't even like. We will not be returning. I went in for lash tinting which they do not do and ended up getting extensions. Do NOT go here for extensions! They basically glued plastic tips and the glue was glopped on my eyelid and the eyelashes were pretty much glued together like cement. I'm not kidding, it hurt and I knew immediately I made a mistake. It hurt to sleep. Every little bump was tugging on my lid and it would pinch. I thought, if this is their best job, they will not have much of a business. The two women there were very friendly and I'm assuming they do a better job on the nails. The place smelled really bad like it didn't have good ventilation. I got home and I knew I had to get it off quick. I was told to try baby oil or coconut oil. I used Olive oil... Nothing budged. I called LashOut Beauty Bar and I got in the next morning and they removed them. They couldn't believe how much glue was on there and they didn't isolate the lashes so they could fall out naturally. I was really upset but I knew I had to fix it. Michelle the owner of LashOut took pity on me and totally did the extensions on the house. Ooh my goodness! What a great job they did! Everyone was so nice and professional! The extensions are so natural, I don't even feel them! I am so grateful for LashOut doing that! What a great company for fixing this nightmare. When natural lashes are glued together they will not come out on their own and you could have permanent damage to the lashes. These were basically cemented together. It was heavy and it hurt! Put that forty bucks toward extensions that last at LashOut Beauty Bar! They are the real professionals. They make their own with silk. They are amazing and soft!!! read more

During my several visits to Pelican Nails I have experienced a range of quality control and expertise. In June I had a fantastic pedicure and manicure with little peeling on my fingers afterwards. The cuticles were pushed down and handled well and my hands looked great for several weeks. However, on my most recent visit last week in August, the aesthetician was woefully inexperienced on manicures. The quality of my pedicure was high, but the mutilation I experienced on my hands from my manicure completely overshadowed the bliss of the pedicure. It is now several days later and my cut and bleeding fingers are still sore. I have scabs on two fingers, the cuticles are still covering the base of my nail bed, and each finger has skin peeling down from the nail. My nails look worse than they did before I went in. Overall, I would say the quality control and experience of the aestheticians at Pelican Nails is too inconsistent to continue going there. I will look elsewhere for this service. read more

Fabulous pedicure! Manicure was lacking. I got gel with a very Simple nail art on two of my nails..literally just wanted a half triangle with a little diamond at the point. Not only that but she randomly threw some gold glitter on my tips. I didn't say I was going to Mardi Gras.. Anyway, would probably go back for a pedicure because they used hot stones and for $33 you can't beat it. Have been going to this place for the last year since it's close to my house. Usually got nails done by owner or his wife. Last couple of times I was treated by the other nail technicians. They have done a horrible job each time with the polishing!!!! Coating is sloppy, thick and uneven. As long as I've been going here they have not had 1 new color in stock ... always have the same colors to choose from... which most are dried out/thick. I didn't tip them they tipped themselves $12. This is the first time I've ever given a 1-star review, but no choice. I had to go in and have a gel removed, and a manicure. It was the most expensive, and the worst job ever. She used a nail file to scrape off the gel, my nails are still rough. As for the manicure, she never cleaned under the nails, barely touched the cuticles, and left rough edges on the nails. I had to go home and do it myself. $25 for not even having new polish, not having the nails cleaned properly, and for having to go home to finish the job myself - inexcusable. I went with a friend to this location quite recently. I had a broken nail and made it clear to the manicurist that it was very sore (it was almost completely detached and very uncomfortable) and to take caution. She told me not to worry. As she began, she showed no caution at all to my nail and kept hacking away at it... After a few times of pulling away in pain, she finally got the hint and decided to get up and leave.. After I sat there in complete confusion for a good 20 minutes because the previous lady never explained what she was doing, another manicurist came to help me. She understood the situation and fixed me up! When I was finally done, I went to pay.. The first lady was rude and unprofessional. Seemed like she was in a hurry to get me out of there. Worst possible manicure. Incorrect use of grinder on Dremel tool left damaged nails. Never saw them bring out new sanitized instruments and they never sanitized any of the pedi bowls. Just lining the bowls with plastic shower cap does not cut it. Much better when Kim owned it. Will never go back. read more

Last year I started to look for another nail salon because I wasn't satisfied with the one I used to go. I drive a lot around Pine Ridge and Airport intersection so the saloon had to be in this area. Then I found Pelican Nails and I'm glad I did. Kim is a wonderful girl and does her job very professionally. I could tell she has a very good people skill and communicates well with the customers. I watched her while she did my nails and I noticed how hard she concentrates to every detail until it's perfect. This nail salon is well equipped and it has stylish decorations that makes it unique.
