Super friendly folks on the phone and in person. I called Herb's after getting BS when I called another local hat shop (see previous review). I told them what I needed done and they only requested me to come early as they are busy on Saturdays. First one to arrive the next morning. Show them what I needed done and in less than 10 minutes they had completed my hat back to the condition before my cat attacked the previous rattlesnake hat band. They made it better than the last! I pull out my wallet to pay for the service and they say no charge! But, I wasn't having that so I tipped the hatter via cash app. SUPER CUSTOMER SERVICE here Yelp peeps. After wearing my 40 year old cowboy hat last week at the rodeo, I knew I needed to make the effort to go get it stretched out just a tiny bit to avoid getting another headache at this week's rodeo. Herb's Hat Shop was the answer. They are a mom and pop shop that has been in the business forever. I was surprised to see it's even a shoe repair shop as well... those old fashion shops are hard to find these days, such a rare art form to be appreciated. I left my hat over night to be stretched, went back the next day to pick it up, purchased "The Hat Jack" hat stretcher which will help keep the hat in shape/stretched since it only gets worn once a year... and because I decided to purchase the stretcher, there was no charge for the initial stretch by the hat shop. That is fantastic service right there! I took a few pics of the shop while I was looking around... and in one of the pics you can see the prices for their services on the back wall. I highly recommend that you think of Herb's Hats in the future for all your hat or shoe repair needs! read more

Perfect perfect perfect! For those in the cowboy hat market, you know American (the brand) hats are hard to come by, IF you are only looking at big-box stores. Herb's is the pot of American hats at the end of the rainbow! I called ahead to make sure, knew exactly what i wanted, and they turned an open-crown, open brim hat into a western masterpiece! Tiny understaffed shop in a sketchy area, hard to park and "booked for the next 3 months". Asked if I could just leave my hat for a simple head band replacement, told the guy I was not in a hurry, answer came back "nope, not accepting new jobs". Asked the guy if he knew of anyone else that could do a simple headband replacement, answer: "nope". I suppose he knew, just didn't want to say. Unhelpful and a waste of my time and gas. My question is: why not just close the "shop" then, hire staff, get caught up and then open your doors again when you are ready to serve the customers trying to throw money at you? Waste of my time. Evidently they don't care about customers. The vibe I got was "hey we got an established clientele and we don't need your dollars". Typical of businesses that have been around for decades. They get this entitled attitude which drives new customers away. I go out of my way literally (I came to this hole in the wall from across town) to try to support local businesses whenever I can but they sure make it hard with their poor business practices. Will find someone else who wants my money. Avoid. read more

Very disappointed. My husband took his expensive custom beaver hat to be blocked and resized and it will have to go back to the original hat maker to be redone correctly. The Blanco store assured that the original sweatband would be expanded by adding a piece of leather to the back, but when picked up, the original had been replaced with a cheap sweat band. The hat was to be sized at 7 5/8, but was resized to 7 1/2. If you are looking for a cheap hat, this may be your place. If you have an expensive custom hat you want serviced like a quality custom piece, this is not your place. We will be making the trip to Texas Hatters where they are used to working on quality hats. The woman who waited on us continued to insist that we had not been told the original sweatband could be left (but acknowledged she was not present for the original discussion) and acknowledged that the size was not correct, but continued to argue with us. We will get the cheap sweatband replaced with a quality sweatband like the original at Texas Hatter. Texas Hatter has made hats for the discerning rich and famous for a long time and their quality and service is excellent. Google them and give them a try - they will not disappoint. read more
