    Family owned and operated!

Listen, you're not just buying a hat here... you're getting a piece of history, making new friends, and joining a society hatters. Paris Hatters is 109 years old!!! Owned and operated by four generations, and if you're lucky, you might catch the fifth generation taking a nap amongst all the hats. Really great people working there. Now about that society of hatters you ask... when I left with my hat, I've never been more complimented by strangers for something I was wearing in my life. If someone else had a hat, you'd at the least get a hat tip. If you're in San Antonio... stop by and tell them I said hi!

This place is amazing ! The owner is the kindest , sweetest man . Very helpful . This establishment has been around since 1917 . There is a picture on the wall of them making a hat for Pope John Paul . Yes , I said the Pope . There is many many many hats to choose from and all the accessories. They have boots and belts . This place has a lot of old charm to it . You could spend a great deal of time just looking at all the pictures and things on the walls . I enjoyed visiting and talking with the nice gentleman .

Great selection and cool little store. Very knowledgeable people that work there. Walked in not knowing much about cowboy hats. Got a run down of everything and would have never guessed cowboy hats cost so much.

    Love my hat!!

While in San Antonio, wife decided she absolutely needed a cowboy hat and Paris Hatters was where we stopped. Opened since 1917?!?? Wow congratulations to them. This place from the minute we walked in seemed legit. Not only did it have hats from start to end but also hundreds of signed celebrity photos. I could not take pictures inside as there are signs everywhere against it. Staff was friendly and helpful but there seemed to be some owner looking people that roamed around staring people down. So there was a mixed feeling of how can we help and shop and get out. But overall the place seemed very legitimate. My wife was very happy with there hat.

Decided to go downtown to check out this hat store as a family member had been watching the TV series 1883 & a slew of old Westerns. After researching many videos on YouTube showing how cowboy hats are made, straw hats & the different nuances in the hat designs & features, then finding out that this store made custom hats for celebrities throughout the years, we stopped in. I had no idea they were "the oldest surviving retail business in downtown San Antonio, selling more than 11,000 hats per year" and family owned & operated since 1917! As we stepped in we were greeted by a friendly gentleman clerk. He asked what we were looking for so he could direct us, then told him what activities we would be using with the hat. He directed us to some Stetsons that had several features including a UV blocker under the brim. Interesting how technology has evolved. After trying on a handful & being fitted, we chose one. We were also shown Western style leather belts with ornate designs & on the buckles. He even showed us some felt hats for the winter but told us even they were hit with supply chain issues! He said they were still waiting on a supply that was supposed to come in December but still hadn't arrived & showed us a section where there were empty shelves. Amazing how many industries were affected, including hats! You can't help but be in awe looking at the shelves stocked with hats not only Stetsons but Justin, felt hats, straw hats, Lucchese boots & other high-end brands I'm not familiar with in this genre. You'll note the plethora of celebrity photos donning the walls & old-time memorabilia. There are photos of celebrity clients who've visited and/or purchased hats as well as a big Bison head & I think an Axis deer head on the walls. After we decided on a hat & looked around, we paid our bill to the owner himself, Mr. Abe. Kudos to him & his family for operating his business for so many decades. It's nice to see establishments like this as it brings out a nostalgic & historical feeling of days gone by. I wish men wore stylish hats like these everyday as they did in the 40s & 50s...

I wanted to get a cowboy hat while in San Antonio, but hadn't found any worth the price and quality.

There is history all over the walls, and you can see this is a beloved family run institution. That immediately made me feel good. Everyone in the store is also extremely friendly and helpful, the service is top notch. I had signed up for an appointment for a fitting, and I had a very specific suit color in mind (dark hunter green). I knew this wasn't the most common color for a suit, and I was a little nervous because I've never been through the tailoring experience before. Matt came over and walked me through everything, he helped me pick out not only the suit that is perfect for what I was looking for but he also helped me find a shirt, tie, belt and shoes. He was with me every step of the way. My suit had to be ordered and altered since it's not a common off the rack color, the team at Penner's kept in touch with me the whole time. I never had any doubt that I was in good hands, and any questions I had were answered fully. The price for everything was also extremely fair in my opinion. I fully endorse Penner's if you're looking for suits, clothes, shoes or anything else wearable. There's a big selection, and it's not just suits they also have just about anything for men's wear. A great selection, and a family owned business. I feel very fortunate to have Penner's in town and I will be back!

Nice place and well stocked- unlike discount stores today. Won't be the absolute cheapest, but fair price for a great suit that hangs right and looks amazing! And then people who actually bought the shoes would come back saying that the shoes smelled like feet from all the people who had tried on the pair of shoes previously. True story, swear to God. I guess tourists have stinky feet! I was looking for a souvenir for myself. Warned about the shoes, I actually was looking to get either a Mexican blouse or dress as I had seen several gorgeous ones during my stay in San Antonio. The salesgirl was great in helping me pick out one, and even better yet, offered a discount if I paid in cash. Done. Best yet, after visiting Market Square, I noted that this store's clothes prices were indeed less expensive than the stores on Market Square. Same merchandise, different prices. I don't know how the other merchandise stacked up, but it does pay to shop around.

I do not like to collect anything and only purchase items that have a purpose. So this shopping setup goes against everything I usually gravitate toward. However, when on vacation I do like to get a taste of the local fare and perhaps grab a little something to remember my visit. Near where we were staying is the Market Square-an indoor/outdoor market boasting brightly colored, cheaply made and mostly imported items. There are lots of people, upbeat music and an energy that lures you in. Here, you can find a variety of articles of clothing, hats and shot glasses. I was looking for something that I could take to my son-something practical-ish that I wouldn't mind seeing around the house. We visited three separate times (it was a stop on our tour bus), but each time I left empty handed. The hours are a bit limited-they open at ten (or a bit after, really) and close at 4pm. There are restaurants sprinkled throughout, which might draw more people than the actual market. I would have liked to see some more high-quality, artisan made items rather than so many cheap things that were mass produced. Or more "consumable" items such as soaps, candles, candies, etc. But if you're looking for a souvenir without having to spend a lot of money, you just may find something here.
