We stopped in on a Sunday night and I was really surprised to find that we needed a reservation to eat food at the local pub. For me as a foreigner a perfect Pub! I tried the "Fish & Chips", some soups, some bar-food and the pub-burger and everything was very tasty, fresh and high quality. Our hotel concierge recommended this place for the best fish and chips in the neighborhood. He knew us well, it was a very nice upscale looking yet cozy enough, just the perfect gastropub for our family! The waiter was really nice, the Guinness here tasted better than the one we had in Dublin! Food was amazing, too bad they had just run out of fish and chips when we got there and it was only 7PM on a weekday! It could have been an amazing night if the security and staff wasn't that abusive. They ringed the bell at 22:50 and immediately started to kick us out. The security guard assaulted a customer outside the pub. read more

The Hereford Arms is a standard brewery owned boozer. More an old man's pub than others around the area it does it's job well. The food isn't going to win any awards but again serves it's purpose well. If eating here anything with chips and you should be fine. The fish and chips are talked about but I have to admit I haven't tried them. read more

Two of the staff members were extremely rude to me and my friend. We booked for Christmas dinner at 9 pm and received an email saying we had a 3 hour slot so we both organised to get picked up at midnight. They closed at 11 pm and refused to even leave a garden chair outside for us to wait for our rides (we both leave far so our husbands could not arrive earlier). These 2 staff members were very rude to us, telling us we should have checked closing times and that their booking confirmation did not mention the length of time we could stay. We got ready to leave but when I showed them the email proving I wasn't lying they physically pushed us out of the pub! We spent £130 on dinner and had just ordered a bottle of wine! read more

The Hereford Arms and be good or bad depending on the time of day. I'd give it another star during the day when it's lunch time. Then the pub is quite relaxed, the service is attentive and friendly, and the food is very nice indeed! But after work, it's a less pleasant place and gets taken over by either large groups of students, tourists and screaming babies - usually not all on the same day thankfully! Get there early and leave before it gets too crowded to enjoy. It's quite close to Gloucester Road Tube so a handy place to meet friends before heading off somewhere else. I'm hoping it retains its traditional pub decor but new management is on the way next week and I have my fears! Overall it should get 3.5 stars overall. read more

This is a lovely pub on Gloucester Road in the heart of London. I visited it earlier this year for some early dinner before going to a concert at the Royal Albert Hall. The food was extremely good, and very reasonably priced. The service was good and the decor pleasant. The fish and chips was good. It was way too much for 1 person to eat. My fellow diner had the fish patties which she said just "ok" and that it was too much to eat. The bar area was very crowded so if wanted to eat in the bar area it would have been impossible to find a sit. We eat in the restaurant side; where you must order food not just drink. read more

Great local hangout, the beers are cheap £~5, the vibe is that of the typical upper scale London Pub, loud but not obnoxious. They have food too, we got the blood sausage scotch egg, it was perfect, the eggs was runny, the crust was perfectly crispy and the sausage was nice and moist, all with some micro greens and H&P as a lovely garnish. We also had the "giant" onion rings, they were good, typical beer battered onion rings, but the egg was more refined. read more

Great restaurant. They accommodated our 7 person party quickly and service was very good. After a relatively hot day in London it was good to be greeted with a pitcher of water. The food was very good, most of us had the fish and chips. We didn't order many appetizers and we didn't have room for dessert, so we can't comment on these items. We would visit it again. read more

Great food, friendly service, taps, and interesting decor. The walls are decorated with old movie posters. This was actually the first place I went to when I visited London, and I'm glad I came here. This is my local, when I'm home in London. The food here is consistently good. The Sunday roasts are great, the normal menu is fantastic, and there are regularly interesting specials. I'm a fan of cask ale, and this is stocked with the likely Fuller's suspects. There's a good variety of other beers, lagers, etc available. Probably what I like most, and what makes it my local, is the ambience. It's casual (for RBKC), but not scruffy, the staff are friendly but not in your face, service is prompt and the pub has good overall atmosphere. It's just plain nice :) read more

Great pub and a great location (to where I am staying:)) Loved the fact that I could run a tab...frikkin awesome in this town. I get a little pissed when I am settled for the afternoon and have to cash up for every drink...not used to that anymore :) Met a guy at the bar and we were drinking buddies for the rest of the night, it was like we had known each other for years rather than minutes! Had a great night, will go back again in the hope of meeting more friendly people in a town full of foreigners...lol read more

The Hereford Arms might have a few tourists, but it is by no means a tourist-y pub, it is an excellent little gastropub with a nice atmosphere. I'm also glad that the few tourists who walk further up the road than their own noses find this place as it does have a far more genuine atmosphere, and the food is lovely! I ate a Sunday lunch here a few weeks ago with my family after having spent the morning perusing the V&A. I ordered the Grilled polenta cakes with eggplant/aubergine, zucchini/courgette & peppers and a side order of chips, it was all very, very nice food. My parents and brother were also very impressed with their meals, various Sunday roasts. Overall, the Hereford Arms has decent prices, not too expensive, and some very friendly and attentive staff. Loved the place, the staff, and the atmosphere. We ordered at the bar and got our food within 20 minutes. The drinks were reasonably priced and strong. The food was fabulous and tasty and I couldn't get enough of their ploughman's sandwich. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. Stayed doen the road on our trip to London and absolutely loved this pub. We had eaten at a couple others on our trip and this one was by far our favorite. The food was great, we had fish and chips and cottage pies, the beer was good, and the people were friendly. A nice little pub. Not overly crowded. Warm on a cold winter evening and not noisy. It has a 21+ rule, which is nice in an area with a lot of students and tourists. Most unique pub I went to in London it was absolutely picturesque and was the perfect place to grab a drink and snack with a friend. The decor is amazing and it was quite a large pub. The back wall is covered in old-timely looking Alfred Hitchcock posters and it has an amazing and unique feel. If I were picking a place to become my local go-to pub, this would be it. read more

This quaint pub is one of my favorites in London. The chitchat and rowdiness of the place creates the warm and welcoming atmosphere. Our server, Declan, was the friendliest I've ever met.
