Risky business - a gamble with your personal data. Please think before you register to bid with this auction house. They request the following highly sensitive data that as a whole, leaves you open to great personal risk: Name, birth year, photo of driver's license or passport, last 4 digits of your social security number, bank name, and more. They will say it is for their protection, but should there be a data breach you will be screwed. This is a serious overreach by Heritage Auctions and my husband (who is an attorney) and I refuse to provide our sensitive personal data in bulk to this company. 1/26/26 response to Heritage Auction reply: While I appreciate that you don't sell your customer's private information (which is more than enough for anyone with bad intentions to hijack your good credit), you cannot guarantee protections from a data breech putting your customers at risk. It's well known that large companies with 'exceptional' protections in place are hacked and the data is leaked. The extensive combination of personal data you require is absolutely devastating should it be compromised. I am a registered bidder with many high end auction houses and NONE of them require such a depth of personal data. Extortionate Postage. Charged over $500AUD to have a single comic shipped from the USA to Australia. No option to organise your own freight. No way of knowing what you'll be charged until they take the money from your bank. If you're overseas and are buying comics etc, go to eBay. Postage is fairly priced. Heritage is double dipping on profit at the buyers expense. Not customer focused. Customer service refuses to show the quote from FedEx which states the postage cost. The lack of transparency only reinforces the notion that Heritage is extorting their customer base. If I was to send the same comic to Heritage, from Australia to Texas, USA, it would cost me $88USD. Door to Door. Their corporate discount would guarantee a better price. Yet I paid $300+. Don't trust, don't buy, find a better company to trust. read more

"Heritage" charged my wife the SAME amount of a "service" fee as they did for the buyers fee ! ! $2000 for our $9000 sold price. Then we get our check about 6 weeks late ! ! Aaron, does NOT return calls. Hardly responds to emails. He is ALWAYS busy. We are BOTH disabled seniors and cannot keep taking these surprise HITS like the deal from Heritage We were led to believe that the fees were reasonable, HAH! I needed to have my attorney look at this 'contract,' I guess. Tried to list the same item a few yrs ago w / them. The previous dept head was rude and obnoxious. And HE is gone now too. What the . . . . This complaint is going viral to keep away from these "honorable" people as well as a complaint to the F T C. Heritage took advantage of our good faith in what we thought is a 'reputable' outfit. I got an email from them to resolve this "issue." Yesterday. Just send a check for $1700 and we are OK then. At this point, Heritage is disreputable and will go viral on this activity of theirs. You should think long and hard before dealing with this outfit if you have an item appraised by them for less than $10k. Next, I worked with Kyle Kavanagh and Jason Friedman. They came to my location, inventoried, packaged, and shipped (fully insured) the entire collection to Dallas. They were friendly, professional, and knowledgeable. Update: Heritage Auctions responded after I filed a BBB complaint. They offered to let me return the watch after I took that additional step, but I'd already traded it locally. So, if you run into issues with them that need resolution you need to go to the BBB. -- Funny how most of the positive reviews are from people with VERY few other reviews. Just worth pointing out. I've bought a variety of items from Heritage with varying results, particularly in their luxury goods. I actually nearly shied away from them entirely in this area after seeing some online chatter about them selling Hermes bags without indicating they were shooting star bags (made by the craftsman for their personal use, more difficult to service). Regardless, though I have been a bit "eh" on their descriptions of wear and tear, the items have been reasonably as described. Until the last auction I participated. Y'all, just don't bother with them. I should have known it was going to go to hell when the auction closed on 11/17 and the items arrived 12/6 via USPS. That's right, they shipped luxury goods via the USPS with no insurance AND it took forever. Then, the real insult: a watch that was described as "condition: This lot presents in very fine condition. Movement runs and sets as it should" arrived running 3-4x as fast as it should. I IMMEDIATELY, 12/6, called Heritage requesting a return and--after waiting on hold for over half an hour--was told they would email me the response within a day or two. In the meantime, I called a jeweler who said it might have become magnetized and to bring it in. Now comes today, 12/13. The watch is not magnetized, it's faulty. This is not from shipping. This watch was sold to me in non-working condition KNOWINGLY. So, I called Heritage back and just got this email: Hello, I hope this email finds you well. I reached out to the department, and they declined the return request. If you have any other questions, please feel to reach out to us. Thanks, [name omitted] | Client services| Heritage Auctions Garbage customer service, unbelievable wait times, and products not as described. They're not getting my business again, so I hope they quit sending me their mammoth catalogs. read more
