If you are in the market for High-End Comic Books - there is NO COMPANY that does it better than Heritage Auctions. Period. End of story. I have purchased $1,000s of dollars worth of comics from Heritage - and I am never dissatisfied with anything. The quality of items purchased is simply, in a word, FANTASTIC. Going even further with customer service - as an example - I did have a recent issue with 2 comics that had cracked CGC cases when I received them. (Either during transit or after photographing for their auctions.) They are being resent to CGC for re-slabbing. Again, do not worry about your purchases from Heritage. They will take care of you and you will LOVE the products you buy during their auctions - comics or otherwise. I personally can also recommend Robert (Bob) Fornesi - who is a Comics Consignment Director for CGC, located in San Francisco. He has called me on multiple occasions to discuss my interests in comics - and I have enjoyed our discussions. He has also assisted me in setting up my "Watch List" to be on the lookout for any particular comic titles that may be coming up in auctions that I might have missed, without that online functionality. I contacted Heritage Auctions through their website, HA.com, and used their free evaluation tool to get an idea if my cards had any value On January, 30th 2021 Mark Jordan reached out to me regarding my 1953 Mickey Mantle, he wanted to know if I had more, I told him I did and wanted to auction my cards, signed baseballs off in an auction. Mark told me to email him the player, year, number, and manufacturer of card, but no pictures please. It took a month, and about 700 cards and 50+ emails later I was ready to go to Dallas an meet Mark Jordan to discuss which cards should be sent for grading. Unfortunately, the day before, Mark J. Cancelled on me and said use 2 day FedEx. First red flag missed. They received my 35pounds of cards on 3/3/21 Mark Jordan said I had a lot of valuable cards, and he initiated a late May 2021 auction for my cards. Everything was working smoothly, until 3/16/21 when Mark Jordan and Sarah DeSalvo called to let me know without qualification that I wasn't going to be in the May 2021 auction. I suspected something strange about the reversal but also the fact that Heritage Auctions had held my cards for two weeks then told me this, I told them I wanted my cards back in two days, he told me I would not get them back for another two weeks!!! I was livid. I called Chris Ivy-coCEO, he told me that he would take care of everything from here. I received my 3 boxes back last day of March, 2021, It took some time to go through all my cards. I had cards that were not returned, specifically pre Derek Jeter and Derek Jeter rookies along with mint condition 1970's cards, 1971 Thurman Munson, 2 1993 UDSP Derek Jeter's. I contacted Chris Ivy, Mark Jordan, Sarah DeSalvo by email because they would not return my calls. I emailed them for an entire year trying to get a human response from them. They did not respond, so I kept on emailing them until I received a phone call from James Vaughan, CI DFW airport on 8/25/2022, he said that he was investigating my case. (Thought he was investigating the stolen cards which have a value between 250-1million dollars. James Vaughan told me I have a warrant out for my arrest in mid September 2022 and need to turn myself in to 100 Lamar st. Tarrant County detention facility. I started to think this was a scam since I have no paperwork or any other correspondence except email and phone conversation. I ignored it, then I had 4undercover cops surround my house to arrest me last Wednesday and put in the Bexar County intake for 36 hours. How do thieves, like Heritage Auctions, use the legal system to bypass truth, and use their system to scam people and throw in jail. I know no lawyers, if I had to do it again I would have filed criminal charges against them. I don't know what to do, and I need your help. DSW read more

I have been a client of Heritage Auctions for over 10 years. I started out as a buyer of high-grade CGC graded vintage comic books, but later evolved into consigning a large portion of my personal collection dating back to the summer of 2021. As a buyer, all of my high-end books were meticulously and professionally packaged and arrived in excellent condition. The customer service staff has always been very friendly and understanding. I was able to arrange multiple payment plans on books that I won at auction for over 10K (2.5K minimum final bid) with a 25% down payment. This really made purchasing expensive books more manageable, as Heritage granted me 3-4 months to pay off my balance. The only thing that you have to keep in mind, is that Heritage will require you to approve of an automatic monthly withdrawal from your bank account, to ensure that your financial commitment is taken care of. As a consignor, I have also had an exceptional experience. I can't thank my consignment Director enough--Mr. Rick Akers, for his highly personable and professional demeanor and work ethic. Rick has always responded to my emails quickly and efficiently, and would go the extra mile in answering any questions or concerns I had...even replying on the weekends from his cell phone, when he technically did not have to respond until the following Monday when he was back in his office. This just goes to show you the high level of customer service that Rick has demonstrated, which has always made me feel extremely valued and appreciated as one of his many consignors. Moreover, I unfortunately experienced a very challenging time both personally and financially due to many factors that occurred in the Summer of 2022. Rick Akers and the entire team at Heritage have been like an extended family, as they truly showed genuine concern and did everything in their control to assist me during a very difficult time. I will forever be grateful. I highly recommend buying or selling CGG graded comic books with Heritage Auctions. This is an updated review. More than three months ago I submitted, via text and photos, a few TV props (Star Trek and MST3K) to HA for possible consignment. Despite several follow-up e-mails, I didn't hear back from them for three months-- not even a robo-response. I left a critical review here, and assumed that was that. I just heard, however, from Michael M. (not Myers, but I want to respect his privacy), and he could not have been nicer or more helpful. My items were not what they were looking for, and that is OK. Michael was super-nice about it everything, and referred me to another auction house that might be more interested in my props. So Michael gets five stars, but the three months of complete radio silence loses HA one star, and that's my updated review. read more

Suggestions to help improve would be to be vey clear on shipping options during purchase periods. The fees charged for their standard service (which is beautifully packaged, tracked and shipped fast) are outrageous unless you buying something worth tens of thousands. I purchased a valuable graded CGC 9.8 Signature Series Walking Dead #48 comic book from Heritage Auctions. When they shipped it to me it arrived damaged. I contacted Heritage Auctions customer service and advised them what had happened. They requested photos of the damaged book which I was happy to provide them with. They went above and beyond to ensure I was satisfied with my purchase. They overnighted me an overnight label to return the book to them. They then shipped the book back to CGC to have the book re-encapsulated and once they received it back they shipped it back to me immediately. During the whole process they kept me updated with emails letting me know when they shipped it to CGC and when they received it back and when they shipped it to me. I am a very experienced buyer in online auction located both within and outside of the U.S. I would give Heritage very high marks in all areas that are important to buyers at a distance. Accurate descriptions, good images but most importantly willingness to provide additional photos, ease of bidding and if a successful bidder the next steps are seamless. Over the years, I've purchased a number of pieces from Heritage and for the most part, have been impressed with them. Three issues, however, could use improvement: First, they've increased their premiums to the point where all but the wealthiest collectors won't pay for pieces, which keeps the values of the pieces low and drives them into the private market, where we have less access to them. Second, their submission/appraisal process is unreliable. I've submitted pieces for consignment that they've either under-valued or simply rejected for nonsensical, arbitrary reasons. I know this, because I eventually sold them for much better prices elsewhere. Finally, the price limit for credit card purchases is way too low. Last timeI checked, no purchases over $2,500 were permitted to be paid by credit card. This also places purchases out of reach for the less wealthy. Other than that, Heritage services can't be beat for fulfillment, processing and shipment. read more
