Bought 2 of their Special Release Grand Cru bottles. Their bartender recommended it and the label sounded interesting so I figured I would give it a shot as I was going to a bottle share later that night. What a joke of a beer! It was stale, flat, and tasted absolutely awful. Don't waste your money like I did on $30/bottle for a total of $60. The bottles would probably have trouble selling if they were only $1/bottle. At least I have the satisfaction of everyone at the bottle share agreeing it was terrible and a ripoff. read more

Such an amazing spot. I went here on July 4th and it was all that I needed - amazing beer, cool bartenders and a good small group of beer lovers out in the beautiful parts of VA. They have a yard in front where you can throw a football or set up corn hole or something - and they have extremely great barrel aged beers (even though I am usually not a fan). The beer is fairly good. Out of the area breweries it is probably better than Lost Rhino, and about the same as Bust Head. It is not something like Blue Mountain though. The prices are fair. Good looking place, someone spent some serious cash setting up this 20 barrel brewery. So don't expect to walk into many craft breweries and get the same blast of miles of stainless steel. Compared to most, Heritage didn't leave much to chance with high end machines that calculate their brews to perfection. I think their flagship beers where perfectly matched to the broad target spenders of craft/home brewers, the curious, and of course hippies. I.e. nothing too overly flavored, very sessionable beers. As far as experimental brews, I've had worse. I was also surprised to see several groups of females mantrolling so that's good being that mostly broke and or married dudes are the widest in attendance to breweries. Oh Manassas.. What an exciting find, hiding behind Southern States, right in the City of Manassas. We walked in late on a Saturday and were greeted by a small crowd and warm atmosphere. I tried a few samples before settling on the Kings Mountain Scotch Ale- which I had two of and are delicious. I also grabbed a bottle of the new bottled Scotch Ale to take home! There is no food available on site but they have a clever partnership with The Bone, which will deliver on site Friday and Saturday. We got lucky and had some delivered here. Most of the beers were sold out, and the few beers they had were not very drinkable. I was very disappointed with the Scotch Ale, Honey Lager, and one of the IPA's they had. Heritage sponsored a fundraiser for TAPS at Old Town Sports Pub and we got to try all their craft brews. ( good, bad and different) I discovered years ago I don't like IPA's but my friends do and they loved what Heritage served. I enjoyed their Scotch Ale so much that the next week I stopped by their location to buy more. People have different tastes and that makes craft beers so much fun. What I like you might hate and what I love you think is okay. *** It was hard to find *** They are behind Georator and Southern States off of 28 North. Make a right at Georator and into a sketchy industrial / commercial warehouse area turn right in there and they are on the left. When we did find them they did not open till 5pm on a Sat. I hope to check out the inside. I understand they might be a little expensive but that's what they charge for good microbrews these days. I hope they have some events and offer it in more bars in NOVA. I met Sean the owner at the Fundraiser and he was very knowledgeable on the beers and how to brew them He also mentioned serving as a Marine and Soldier. I thanked him for his service and his beer. If you want more brewers and better craft beers you can start by supporting the ones that just opened. The beer was very good and I think Sean can make it great. Recently met up here with friends. The beer was great, staff friendly and helpful and they didn't mind if you brought in food. It's great to see NoVA develop the quality local nano-brewery market that has caught on so well in other cities and regions around the country. As for Heritage, they're leading the way: Quality beer, a good variety, and a good location-- off the beaten path and secluded from "conflicting activities". What really stands out is the feel of passion, dedication and genuine excitement conveyed by the owner(s)/partners (the guys behind the bar). They are friendly, engaging, and quite knowledgeable about their craft. Made people wait out in the cold for the privilege of tasting mediocre beer poorly poured in plastic cups. All of their offerings are low ABV and low IBU, taste is certainly subjective in beer but this is a departure from the trend of big craft beers. read more

Drove an hour to check this place out. Met Sean, who introduced himself as CEO/brewer along with his brother. He explained they were veterans. Great guys, thank you for your service to our country. We had a flight of all 8 beers on tap. The only one even palatable was the Belgian spiced ale. The rest had no presence of depth or flavor balance. Some of the comments made in response to other customers question regarding hop content and pasteurization led me to believe that these are home brewers that purchased a plug-and-play system and have never worked under a "brewmaster" to learn the true art of craft brewing. Great brewery! We came for a tour for my 21st birthday and it was amazing. The mojito American Expedition is awesome for those that like a sweeter beer. If you can make it on Saturdays for a tour with the owner, you definitely should. The tour was very informative and we learned a lot about the beer making process. Pricing is par with any other brew house. Their beers are balanced and easy to drink. When you walk into Heritage, the first thing you realize is that you are in the brewery. Not behind glass, not in the other room, you are just feet away from where the magic happens. After speaking with Sean and Ryan you learn that everything has been repurposed in the tasting room. The beers were good, the people were very nice, and the layout is very different. The indoor/outdoor, along with the streaming on the walls, the lighting, the high ceilings and ample space made this a different experience from most brewhouses. I went with my wife, and we agreed that we will be back because of the people, and to see if we can find a beer to rave about. We had 3 different beers, and all were fine. I love microbreweries, nanobreweries, brewpubs, etc. and I always search them out in any town I visit, and I've rarely been to one I have not enjoyed. That said, I won't be going back to Heritage again. Heritage's pints and samplers are FAR too overpriced. $7 for a pint of mediocre beer at a brewery in what essentially is a garage or hangar? In Manassas? And the samplers are $7 for FOUR small samples - I very frequently buy samplers and have never paid that price for so little beer offered in the sampler (actually, I've never paid that much for a sampler, period). The place is in a large open-air garage/hangar type facility, with little to no atmosphere. When we visited, it was a hot day, with a few fans to try to help out - fail. And it was dusk with VERY LITTLE lighting inside - just a string of yellow-ish light bulbs hanging down over the bar was all there was for the entire place, and it was pretty dark in there. It felt like we were sitting in someone's dark garage, rather than a true microbrewery or professional business. Then, as my friend and I tried to order each of their six beers for a sampler, we were told we could only get four beers per $7 a sampler. So we decided we would each get a sampler with the four regular house beers, plus we would share an additional sampler including two each of the two remaining beers on tap that evening - i.e., we wanted to get three sampler purchases among the two of us in order to get a total of twelve samples between us -- so we would each have a sample of all six of their beers. But the "bartender" simply had no clue what we were talking about. With some back and forth, I carefully explained to him that the two of us each want to try all six beers, so we would break it down that way... but still nothing. After a while, the guy came back, saying he could now finally understand English and realized what we were asking for was simple. Then we got our beers -- after all of that, all I can say is meh. Not really bad beer, but bland with nothing special about any of them. So, in the end, with a small tip thrown in, we paid a total of $24 for two small sampler sets of mediocre beer in a poor setting. Entirely not worth it. read more

Industrial feel with high ceilings and concrete floor so the acoustics are not good. Add some loud music that you could only hear the bass and then a dozen or more children running around, screaming and sitting at the bar. When did it become appropriate to bring children into a bar let alone sit them at the bar? They had a face painter and ice cream bars so the establishment was trying to attract families. Also think it would be a OSHA violation with the actual brew vats situated against the wall to have kids running around. It was very noisy!! Only bar stools with no backs and then used wine barrels for tables. Not comfortable sitting if you are above 30 years old. Husband said beer was ok but due to the noise and the uncomfortable seats we couldn't get out of there sooner. Parking is also difficult. There are too many other options in the area so they need to step up their game. read more
