During a late breakfast today, a couple came in and asked if they could bring in their dog. And the person from the restaurant said yes. This was not a service dog, it was just a pet. Beside the issue of bringing a dog into a dining establishment, we had a person in our group with a very strong fear of dogs. This was unacceptable. We will not be back. read more

After not eating there for about a year, my husband and I decided to try the place again. The main reason for staying away was the amount of small flies constantly flying around us. Well, things haven't changed a bit. Still had too many flies for my comfort, unswept floors with food crumbs on them (right after they opened for the day), very slow in getting our food, and bland tasting food on top of that. read more

a few months ago, in full-on Goldilocks fashion i accidentally found this spot on my way back to NY from MA.. had coffee and raisin french toast. it was great.. simple, quick & just right. I marked it on my map so I could return someday. turns out that someday was today.. I opted for a bigger dish, the 222.. 2 pieces of french toast, 2 sausage, 2 bacon & 2 eggs. over-easy, always over-easy. the eggs were perfect. the French toast was tasty, with a bit of a bite from the cinnamon. the links were slender and delicious and the bacon was bacon. a great breakfast spot indeed. read more

YUM YUM YUM. Just moved to town a year ago and I tried this place today. The food has what I would call ~town diner magic~ , where the food is simple but has the ability to really start your Saturday morning right. Ordered the chocolate chip pancakes (which were HUGE) with bacon. My fiance got the hash browns and corned beef. Again, very simple but it had that little extra OOOMF that only comes from a town diner. The prices are very fair. I come here once in a while for a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich before work, and I love their breakfast sandwiches. I also enjoy their omlets, and the service. Everyone here treats you well and the prices are reasonable. You will not be disappointed in this cozy cafe. Can I rate just the food??? If I did I would add another 2 stars. I had an Auburnite breakfast that was quite yummy. Everything was cooked just right and tasted fantastic. The downfall here was the service, or lack of it. We got here around 11, just before it started to fill in. No greeting when we waked in, Do we sit wherever we want or is someone supposed to seat us. Baby B decided she couldn't wait and picked her own table. We sat around for a full five minutes before our waitress came over for our drink order. Once she took our order the food came out fairy quickly. After that she was back to ignoring us, this time hanging out at the counter talking to what I guess was part of the regular crowd rather then checking on her other tables. I will probably give this place another try at some point to see if the service is any better. read more

It's been a while since I updated this but believe me, I've re-visited more than my share over the last year. Some updates: the rotation of cooks seems to have leveled off and I see the usual suspects on a regular basis. This is good as it means consistency. There are two items I go to regularly: Eggs Benedict and Western with Swiss. The former more than the latter. The hollandaise is nothing fancy, but really tasty. I more or less cut then mix everything up and wolf it down. With the hash browns both of these are great...and on both I get English Muffins that are nice and crispy. Staff is always friendly but as other reviewers have reported, there seems to be a large crowd of regulars. It doesn't mean they're rude to you...you're just not a regular yet. read more

Went today with a party of 12 and they were able to accommodate us with a call ahead. Service was unbelievable with a packed house. Food came out all together and in a timely manner. Small quaint coffee shop with a good size counter and plenty of tables but not to big where you get lost. You feel like a regular customer and not just a tip. I travel often and decided that I couldn't stand another hotel breakfast. I opened yelp and found that the Heritage Coffee Shoppe was close to my hotel so I decided to check it out. It's located in a strip mall and not very inviting looking from the outside, but my mother always told me not to never judge a book by its cover, so I walked in. The staff was friendly, brought me a menu and coffee very quickly, the coffee was great by the way and in a very large cup. There was plenty of seating available this Wednesday morning. I ordered my personal go-to favorite diner breakfast: a Greek omelette and a side of Rye toast. I threw couple of curveballs and asked for an egg white version of the omelette and no butter on my toast. My order was executed perfectly and it was delicious! It's always difficult to navigate through the trivial criticisms of the reviews of local restaurants on yelp and other sources but I have no hesitation in recommending this place for breakfast and I will be back again. read more

My boyfriend and I had breakfast at the heritage coffee shoppe, we arrived around 9:00am there were many tables already seated but there was a cute two top table open. I ordered a coffee the mug was large and the coffee had a great taste. We waited about 35 minutes for our food but we didn't mind. Our food was steaming hot, exactly the way we ordered it. It was a good quality breakfast for a quality price, my boyfriend couldn't stop raving about the hot sausage and Cheese Omelet. We will be returning. Oh and I couldn't help but notice the 3 women doing the hostessing/waitressing were so sweet and kind and you could tell they were either family or really close friends. Stopped in for breakfast with my wife today. We were seated quickly and got coffee and juice before our breakfast the menu was pretty good and had some interesting items so my wife got a typical 2 eggs hash browns sausage and Italian toast , I ordered a hash and eggs and hash browns . The food came out in a reasonable time the place was starting to get busy. My wife's breakfast was pretty good she said but her Italian toast was cold. My hash and eggs were pretty much flavorless and my Italian toast was cold and stale , too bad because there plenty of good bakery's in the area to get good Italian bread from and any cook that would send out toast like we got isn't paying attention . When my colleague and I walked in here in suits before a meeting, I'm fairly certain I heard a record scratch as everyone in the room turned to stare at us. This felt the kind of place at which someone would grab breakfast in a misguided Ben Affleck vehicle about growing up in Southie. None of the waitresses really looks at you. Most of the clientele seemed to be sitting in their prescribed seats. The booths are made from plastics that no longer exist. For the price, this was very solid. They have all the basic breakfast items you'd expect from a diner-type place. I got a bacon, egg and cheese sandwich (which was really just an omelette hilariously sticking out of a croissant). My colleague got some pancakes that smelled delicious. When we were paying, we noticed some enormous pastries beneath the register. My colleague looked at the fairly heavyset waitress and said, "Nice muffins." She looked down, either at herself or the display case, and said "Thanks." They stared at each other for one second too long, then we left. I will not forget that moment. read more

So yesterday we were "those people". We showed up 25 minutes before closing looking for burgers and fries. They were delicious AGAIN! Even after the hellish weather we have had our fair haired waitress and the cook looked tired but in good spirits. We chatted about how their food purveyors hadn't come yet and Monday morning might be a challenge. I have to say the baked goods are delicious looking too. I can't wait to try breakfast soon! Our burgers were cooked as ordered again and we both loved the bread and butter pickles. They have to be homemade. Consistency is what keeps us coming to the Heritage. We have also experienced nothing but pleasant attention. It could be because my husband and I believe that if you put on a smile you usually get one back. So bad. Just cook at home. My young son and I decided to get breakfast today at Heritage, and we left knowing that we would never make the same mistake again. I remember my whole family dined here years ago, and we vowed to not go back...something about under-cooked eggs...we should have learned from this experience, but it had been so long, (we thought maybe the cooks had changed...we were hoping), and we were hungry, and seriously .... how bad of an experience could it be to get a couple eggs and a bagel? Well, shoot. We were seated, and the waitress was friendly when she took our drink order...off to a good start...the streak ends here. Over 5 minutes to bring our drinks, and after we ordered, I kid you not, it took 50 minutes ... 50!!!!! minutes for our breakfast to arrive. We were more than done with our drinks after about 15 minutes, and started making jokes about how long it was taking. My son and I made bets and set the timer on my phone. The restaurant wasn't full, mind you...I'd say steady, but certainly not super busy. The wait was unacceptable, however if the breakfast was amazing, I probably wouldn't have written a review. Not amazing. The opposite of amazing. My son's heavy pancake and side of bacon came out about 5 minutes before my food did. I ordered 2 scrambled eggs, a grilled bagel with CC, sausage links and home fries. The eggs were withered and cold. The sausage links not cooked. The potatoes, hard and cold. The bagel...maybe placed on the grill for 10 seconds. I was starving. I ate the bagel and asked for the check. When the waitress brought it back there was no total...I looked puzzled and she said, "oh do you want me to add it up for you?" Nope, I'm good. Over a twenty dollar bill for myself and my child. Over an hour in the restaurant, and I came home hungry. I know this establishment has been around forever, and I do love me a family shop, but the entire operation was completely unacceptable. Well, its not horrible. When it comes to the food, this place is not hitting it out of the park. Its more like something you could make at home but more or less greasy. The food doesn't really stand out, its just normal breakfast diner food. So as long as nothing is burnt or your order is not messed up, you will be alright here. The coffee, well, its just coffee. Nothing special when it comes to taste. The server was on top of refills, which is the way it should be at a breakfast joint. I think prices could be more reasonable for the food but it's acceptable. I don't get the 5 star reviews on here... are we talking about the same place? This is more of a 2.5 star place. read more

Unlike other posts, I think the food was by far the worst part. Eggs were undercooked and slimy, hash was from a can. The only thing good about our breakfast was the service. Please stay away, it is sad when you walk in and the sign says Homemade and nothing on the menu is homemade. My husband and I walked in and stood in the front. The waitress walked by us 3 times and didn't even acknowledge us. It wasnt until there were 2 more groups of people waiting that she finally cleaned off a table for us and the two other groups. She then proceeded to attend to the other two groups that came in after us giving them silverware and placemats while we sat there. Then walked past us and went to check on another group. I am not sure if it is because we are a interracial couple or just the fact that my husband is Hispanic. We got up and walked out and she didn't even acknowledge us then. The staff here are incredibly friendly making it a great spot to enjoy breakfast. The food is really solid diner food tasty and large portions. The hash browns are great as are their breakfast sandwiches and omelettes. When it was warmer they had tables set up outside and would even move more tables to accommodate larger parties outside. read more

Ok, so this is purely my own experience and I know that this probably does not happen all the time. However, today was my first time eating here. It was a bit busy, kinda at the tail end of the breakfast burst. Our waitress was pleasant and sweet and gave us our coffees and Waters in a timely manner. We then all order and our food starts to come out maybe 20 or so minutes later. I then get my plate last, which was The New Yorker. I specifically asked for medium hard eggs. Now, a medium cooked egg has a slightly runny yoke. A hard cooked egg has no runny yoke, it's cooked all they way through. So when I saw my eggs I was really grossed out, honestly. My egg yokes were runny and one yoke had already popped it's gooeyness all in my hash and corned beef. It's a texture/taste thing. I then ask to please have medium hard and then the waitress totally acts like the eggs were cooked medium hard and that they'll cook the eggs "hard." Ummm, what. It's runny. That's not even medium. wth...I was kinda irritated that the waitress just couldn't say "oh let's get you those eggs, so sorry." I know she didn't cook them but why are you trying to argue with me about what was presented before me and deny that they're not what I ordered. So I wait for my plate. Everyone at my table is digging in.. I'm still waiting. By this time my friends are halfway done eating. My plate comes back and I immediately thank her. I look down and see hard cooked eggs..not medium hard *whatever* and also.... friggin home fries. I ordered hash browns :( Now I'm already feeling like a jerk because truly I'm irritated with our waitress and I hate feeling like I'm a need customer. But honestly, the lack of attention to my order was really disappointing. Oh yeah, so we reordered hash browns because...yeah ugh I suck at voicing the correct order. I didn't want to make our waitress feel bad. I'm sorry my experience wasn't a real great one. Fortunately the food is delicious, the crepe special was perfect. Yummmm. Will I go back? Worcester breakfast club visited The Heritage Coffee Shop in ho-hum Auburn, Mass. Now, enough of intros and lets move on to the good stuff: The food was up to this Breakfast Club's standards and the staff was friendly and witty. Our coffee cups were kept full till the very end, without having to ask for a refill. The portions were just the right size, leaving all of us happy and not sick-to-our-stomachs full. The bacon and eggs were great and like wise were the bacon, egg and cheese croissant sandwich, oatmeal and last but not least, the "French dipped " waffles (though I felt could be a little bigger). Prices were on target in relation to portion size. Enough rainbows and butterflies and here is the bad: The place looks a little or a lot dated -depending on what era you got stuck in. The seating/tables are a little cramped, which could make it uncomfortable on a busy Sunday morning. The heritage is self seating, so you have to keep your eyes opened for any tables that are getting ready to leave or being cleared. There is a breakfast bar in the middle of the room if you can't find a table on the floor. Though this is not the cafe's fault, It has to be noted that at some point our table was "shush'ed" by hidden "shush" sniper for being too loud despite the room it self being naturally loud on a busy Sunday morning, and despite it being cramped with an open floor plan, logically, this results in everyone talking over everyone else.... Every single time I come it take 5-10 mins just for me to be noticed and for me to put an order in....every time I have to ask the waitress if I can put a breakfast order in... and I notice a lot of people around me waiting and waiting... not to mention the tables are dirty and there are always empty plates sitting around ...I would be here multiple times a week if they could just fix that. read more

Local breakfast spot with good food. The service was average, but it beats any of the normal franchise places. There are better breakfast joints like Gold Star in Worcester and the atmosphere is nothing great but the food was a good value.
