We enjoy coming to 122 Diner for the delicious food and friendly service. We live on the west coast and when we come to visit our son and his family, we always come here. (Also I've spent several hundred dollars in gift cards for them) BUT I want to point out that we were there today for Father's Day breakfast. I understand that you were busy. We came early and were told it would be just a few minutes. When we asked how much longer we were told that they're clearing a table and the waitress looked over towards the table. Then when Sara walked in as a party of five they were seated right away. Then when I said to the waitress I thought you said that you were seating us at that table she said RUDELY I ended up not. Her lack of friendliness was unacceptable. There was no need to be rude. This is not the customer service that we are used from 122 Diner.Thank you for your attention to this matter. The Cafe was very clean, bright, new looking and had lots of parking. A Thursday morning and it was very busy and we now know why.....Fantastic! Fun family place for breakfast. My SIL took us for breakfast and the place was packed. Lots of locals eating here so you know it's good. We had less then a 5 minutes wait even though the place was packed. Tables are cleared quickly and made ready for waiting diners. In our short wait we watched breakfast fare being brought from the kitchen to table that made our mouths water. The food is excellent and the portions are large. Omg how on earth how I not reviewed this place?! Legit been coming here for decades with much delight. I love their loaded home fries that includes broccoli and onions - yeah dude. Like yeah. Staff is wonderful and prompt even on the busiest of mornings and I love trying the special omelettes. Wait times can be long so come early as possible and if you have a small party sit at the counter !! Only thing I would improve on? Better quality coffee. This wonderful diner/restaurant is staffed with a pleasant and efficient crew (5 coffee refill offers by 3 separate servers! While we enjoyed our food!). The menu is huge and varied and included everyone's favorites from savory and hearty to sweet and home made! 122 Diner's prices are reasonable and you'll likely leave happy and truly stuffed, as we certainly did. We are visiting from out of state, or I'd quickly become an addicted regular here! Judging by the customer's present, they are not in need of another extremely positive review, but they have mine! This was a tough one to rate. First time here. Crowded at noon. Some reviews said the same (saw this afterward for this was a last-moment find for us driving by) yet overall Yelp rating: 4 Stars! There was a wait. No big deal. About 5 min. (If that)! Once seated in a half booth we noticed (the place is not large. It is a diner) a party of (over) twenty people. So we waited. The table was set quickly but the ordering was not diner quality and neither was the food lag. The food was sub par for a breakfast/lunch type of a place. I don't know if the large party was unexpected or not but I'm going to guess they bogged the place down. The wait/table staff were very nice and certainly were working hard. The kitchen (I'm going to guess) was overwhelmed. A party of 20+ in a diner might be a bit of a stretch. So two stars off for food and time ratio. Oh my gosh! Now I sound like a food critic. We had an unusual craving to hit a diner for brunch. After hitting 2 other diners with lines out the door, we finally landed at 122 Diner in Holden. I've always seen the parking lot packed, so was excited to give it a try. We waited about 15 minutes for a table, which seemed reasonable for 12:30 on a Sunday. The menu was extensive - standard diner fare. Our coffee cups stayed full, but the food took over 30 minutes to arrive. Was it my toast? The bacon? The wait time seemed ridiculous. The (very young) servers seemed disinterested. To make the situation worse, the tables are VERY close, and we were seated next to 2 teenage girls. Despite my best efforts to tune them out, I learned all about one's tormented childhood, her mother's many boyfriends, her latest hookups, and her fathers prison stay. I left with heartburn... The food and the drama was too much for my delicate stomach. I won't be hitting this place up again soon. read more

If your ever in the area or you live in the area. This place is seriously a must. It's a family owned business located across the Wachusett Highschool. I take my girlfriend here as much as I can. The staff is fucking on point. Those ladies bust their asses from when they walk in to the place until they walk out. I have never felt not welcome in that establishment EVER. They have a great early bird special before 10:30 And they're menu is very inexpensive. Nothing but smiles and joy when I walk in and out of here. The menu is extensive, but also be sure to check out their daily specials. This is where you'll find some unique and unusual breakfast combinations that you won't see anywhere else. Upon my latest visit, I tried a buffalo chicken and bleu cheese omelet (with plenty of hot sauce). It was incredible. I did a somersault right there on my stool. Add a side of their homemade corned beef hash, and you'll be in breakfast heaven.
