We were at one of their Marina Del ray sales. We got there really early and waited 4 hours to get in. When we entered "the most popular and valuable things were gone". They told us they already sold it, which is a lie, because we were (1st and 2nd to get in) and that was their first day doing the estate sale. There were 4 guys and they all told us different stories. They are very unorganized , they don't have the prices up, they just shoot numbers. There is this guy following us wherever we went, he was keep telling us "you buy, I will give you a good price" hahaha, yes he was telling us the exact way I described it. Our father and his wife were avid collectors of many things, some very eclectic, ranging from art, books, ceramics, antiques... oh the list is too long. I wish i hadn't wasted my time at this estate sale! They started 30 minutes late! Then some big DUMMY of a guy comes out and starts laying down all sorts of rules. There are at least 70 or so people waiting in the hot sun for him to talk after waiting at least an hour or more! He gave out numbers sometime in the morning. I arrived 5 minutes after the start time, door closed, some people had numbers and some didn't but there was no one to ask. Who knows when they are starting. After seeing all these people waiting, this dummy says, I'm going to let in 5 people and in 2 minutes let in 5 people more, he was literally counting down seconds! People by this time are leaving, the older people are passing out in the sun. I left and took my 1000 bucks elsewhere. Never coming back to their estate sales!! read more

Went to their North Hollywood estate sale Sunday 3:00, last day of sale . A line at the door to get in... Really?Prices too high.

First off, the guy who runs the company is a first class jerk. No people skills and feels he can talk to you any way he wants. Self entitled prick. Second, when you advertise a sale and have pictures of the items for sale, all items need to be on site. People rely on pictures and plan strategies. To wait 6+ hours for an item(s) and to find out that the item(s) is no longer available for sale is unprofessional and deceiving. When you contract with a family or firm, take pictures and advertise - nothing should be removed from the premises after that point. It's equal to bait and switch. read more

Heritage handled the estate sale for my mothers home. They came into her home after myself and my three sisters had gone through all of my mothers extensive amount of contents. What was left, which was still a lot, they cleaned up, inventoried, and present in an organized way. Jonathon and Joseph are very professional, they do all there research on all items. They are also sensitive and considerate to the family and the home. At the end they provided a detailed list of sales and made the estate more money than expected. GREAT JOB GUYS! EXTREME waste of time. Drove an hour one way to see a sign posted "closed due to city ordinance." When this company could have told me this on THE WEBSITE! Beyond wasting my day, I saw 2 little old ladies that had dressed up and taken a taxi to get there and even the cab driver was apologizing to them! Finally, I saw a car with a Bakersfield Sticker and for them to drive to Encino would have been a 5 hour round trip!!! Had a horrible experience at one of their estate sales in hacienda heights. While I understand they post an only cash sign, I usually arrive and bring the cash back. As I've been mugged in the past I don't like carrying large sums of money on me. After waking up at 5am and running an hour to visit their sale (thus supporting their business), and then spending time to find objects to purchase, I encountered an extremely rude management staff. At the end of my time I asked one of the employees a manager named Steven to assist me tally the amount of money to bring back and he simply brushed me off and said to figure it out myself or bring cash next time. Apparently buying a lot means nothing to them as the tally of my potential sales was close to 600$ and had they been polite I may have purchased another set of items I was interested in. Upon calling the owner Sandy to explain my dismay she offered no meaningful apology and simply said that they didn't have a policy to help you tally your sales unless you were ready to pay. (Literally a basic customer service practice of every other estate company). She also echoed the same rude sentiment of her staff. Poor management, poor staff, unfriendly and probably out to take more from people actually hiring them to Asst with selling their estate goods. Do not hire or support this business. Johnny runs a terrible estate sale. I attended one at Valley School in Van Nuys and things were strewn all over the place. It was more like wandering through a garbage dump. It was hard to tell what was even for sale; a garage in the back was filled with all kinds of dirty items and no signs, so it was impossible to tell if it was part of the sale or not. I know for a fact that he has no idea how to properly run a business, and this sale was an indication of the carelessness and ineptitude he thinks passes for professionalism. Booo....Heritages prices are WAY TO HIGH. They do their clients a disservice with their pricing strategy. (I found some used items priced much higher than buying brand new in store) I have attended handfuls of their sales in the Northridge/Chatsworth area and I have noticed they stage the sale with items that weren't sold at previous sales.. I have seen the same small midcentury sculpture at several different sales - price is always $125 - ridiculous. I guess they haven't heard of Ebay. They have the wrong approach, and it's frustrating for those of us that are experienced estate sales shoppers. I am done with their sales. read more

Johnny and his team did a wonderful job. Throughout the entire process, we were kept fully updated and informed. As for the results, we couldn't have been more pleased! Heritage's marketing team brought in WAY more potential buyers than we ever expected and that showed up in our results. As for value of items, John was upfront (and correct) as to what the proceeds of items would be. I think human nature is to add "sentimental value" to items (especially during an emotionally difficult time) but buyers don't purchase based on that. What worked (for us very well) was the marketing, staging and pricing that the Heritage team delivered. This showed up in the amount of money we received. We recently had to move my father into assisted living and had Heritage stage an estate sale of his home for us. Every inch of my father's house and garage had something in it. My whole family has regularly attended Heritage Estate Sales events for over two years. In that time, we have consistently noticed that their presentation, expertise in the items at their sales, and fair prices are always far above sales put on by any other company. In fact, they have been so great that when my husband started a new retail business, Heritage was the first place he looked for the items he needed. In addition, they were always so ethical and fair that when it came time to do an estate sale at my Mother's home, we didn't have to interview any other companies. Heritage it was! The set-up was difficult. My Mother has not passed, and she was giving contradictory instructions and gifts many times a day. We were working directly with her accountant - at that time an unknown person to me - and both he and I were suspicious of each other, making decisions even more difficult. Besides all that, Moms home was filthy and falling apart. Having had a background in retail, I though I had an idea of what went on before a home was opened up to the public for a sale. WRONG! The wonderful people at Heritage not only cleaned Moms home up, but they handled other issues like 10 years worth of dog mess smell in many of the rooms being cleared out and getting a broken safe opened up (contained many items that we wanted to include in the sale as well as very important documents needed by Moms Accountant) by a professional who did not damage it at all in the process. We realized more money than we expected, and in the end, Heritages team donated the remains of the sale to a worthy cause, and again cleaned up the house, leaving it spotless! I have been attending estate sales for many years. After my grandfather passed away I found myself in need of professional help. I called three estate sale companies. I did not feel confident in the companies that I spoke to, so I called Heritage Estates Sales. Gabriel and John were great. They were straightforward and put me at ease. They were very knowledgeable on the furnishings and their values. Signing a contract with them was the best decision. They brought their team in like miracle workers, and in no time at all my grandfathers house look better than I have ever remembered. they open the house to the public for an estate sale, and I could not believe how many people showed up. There was a line of about 75 people or so waiting to come in. Three days later the house was nearly empty. They appraised all the unsold items and had them picked up for donations. When they were done my house was left completely empty and clean. I thought they were a little expensive at first, but when all was said and done, they gave me a check for three times the amount that the other company said I had in total. This has never happened to me before. I came into the Estate sale asking for a specific item, a nest of outdoor tables. A salesperson directed me to the backyard, before I could even consult with my husband, a second salesperson came and took away the price tag, saying it was the wrong price and walked away. I waited and inquired about purchasing the tables, (the reason I came to the sale), and then I was told the price was not $18 but $49. No reason, no new tag, some lame excuse about how people switch the stickers. It was 8:45 am, hardly anyone was there yet. It was outrageous! BEWARE! My family and I had John from Heritage come out for a consultation of my mother's estate two weeks ago. He provided the first of three quotes that we received. While he and his associate were kind in person, they commented how all of her brown wood furniture would not likely sell, said there were chips in some of her more expensive crystal items that were not present, and offered an offensively low payment to "do us a favor" by trying to sell the items for a single flat payment to us rather than hold a commissioned sale. Both of the other quotes that we received provided an expected minimum return that was over 10 times what Heritage offered. The company that we ultimately used generated 12 times what Heritage offered us. Heritage as a company either doesn't have the knowledge to know an estate's worth or they are taking advantage of those who are already in terrible situations. read more

This was my first time to attend estate sale. This estate sale was unique and huge therefore waiting time was too long to go in . I was standing in line patiently , outside temp about 99 degree , there was an older man standing before me about 74 years old. Poor man almost getting a heat stroke. I approached a security guy who appears to be tall like a big giant with DUMBEST look on his face . I asked him if it is possible to let this old man that been standing in line for a long time to go inside the house with out waiting because it was way too dangerous for him due to heat. The tall Security guy told me "no, he can't go in , he must stay in line." I am thinking really ? This is worst than a German Nazi ..... I think this tallest security guy brain cells travel to build his height and left him with zero brain cells underneath his scalp. So sad that there people treat other with out any compassion , this old man could have been your father ..... One of their reps was very rude!!! Went to one of their estate sales. Went to look at the infinite for sale. The Infinite was in the back of the house up the driveway. Another way to see the Infinite was to go through the house to the open garage which led to the infinity. This is where the Infinity was. The other person I was with twisted her ankle while look at the front of the car, The car was end of the asphalt driveway ended just before the concrete began leaving an opening. Even before my companion had recovered from almost falling, twisting her ankle, one of their reps came out screaming at everyone to get out of the back yard as there was nothing for sale there. I told him we were here to look at the car and he stated he didn't have the TITLE so he couldn't sell it, but would take names and numbers down so the owner could get in contact with those interested. He also stated, the owner of the car could go to the DMV with the buyer to have to Title transferred after the owner got out of the hospital from having his legs amputated. The same rep. was yelling and screaming at my companion to be to careful after the fact, Not once did he seem or care if the person I was with was injured, . If car is for sale... You couldn't look at it, hear the engine or ask any questions on it. Either there is gong to be a bidding war on the car or something. It all sounded fishy to us,,,so we left Pity because we had cash for the car... No Title, NO looking, No asking questions.... Odd isn't it................................. read more

They look out for the best interest of their clients, but also price things fairly. I am an avid estate sale person and after purchasing a piece of exercise equipment for $500, that doesn't work, I am very disillusioned with these type of sales for good. Doug, the designated person running the sale, stroked us through the whole process. I was doubtful as to whether the machine worked because it didn't have a power cord to try it out before buying, and why do you say did I buy anyway? Because Doug kept saying I'll not only deliver it for you for $25, but, if you get it home and it doesn't work, I'll pick it up and credit your card. The process of getting the machine delivered took about 3-5 days, we then realized the power cord was needed. Doug says he purchased one for $65 (we never saw a receipt), he told us, again that he'd bring it over and if it didn't work, he'd still pick it up and credit our card. So, he brought it over and plugged it in to the machine (this process took about another 7-10 days), he saw it light up and left, we weren't even home at the time to see if it worked properly. When I returned I tried the machine out and 3/4 of the functions didn't work so we called Doug to ask that he pick up the machine and credit our card, at that time he all of a sudden says, oh, we don't give refunds, this is an estate sale. He told us to call his boss, we tried several times to reach someone to no avail and finally were able to actually reach a person instead of a machine. That's when I talked to John, after reading past reviews, whose reputation and character seems to have been noted quite accurately. He made comments to me that we hurt Doug's feelings and that he was so sorry and all the stuff that would make you feel like these people really have feelings, NOT...They just know how to stroke you enough to get what they want. Because they won't come get the machine, we're forced into taking whatever commission they received for the machine, it will be interesting to see how much that'll be, and they even offered to sell the machine for us...hmmmm sell a machine that doesn't work, AGAIN...I don't think so. Suffice it to say we will never buy from this organization again even if they're trying to sell us a cold water in the Sahara. I feel better now but, my faith in humans and their honesty has been badly damaged and for that I'm saddened. read more

In Ohio we didn't go to Estate sales but in LA it seems the thing, these guys are an interesting group of people I must say worth a visit good deals but usually not until the last day. HERITAGE ESTATE SALES IS THE BEST!!!! I recently found myself in the rapidly growing "baby boomer" generation who are suddenly faced with the death of their parents, often with children of their own still home, or continuing a career, and then WHAM--what to do with all of your parent's belongings!! In my case my parents lived in the home they built in the 50's, large enough to raise a growing family, and then enough room to fill from top to bottom with old hobbies, collections, memorabilia, photos and furniture after we all grew up and left. Cabinets filled to the brim with 60 year old dishes, China, knickknack, and boxes on top of boxes of PAPERWORK! Needless to say I was overwhelmed with how to even begin to sort things, what was just old, vs an antique?? My mother was an avid QVC watcher and buyer! What was real gold, what stones were precious, how on earth to know the beautiful fashion jewelry from the real thing?Thankfully a friend recommended Gabriel and his team at Heritage Estate Sales. Not being familiar with this concept (I thought it was going to be just a big garage sale!) I interviewed a few other Estate Sale companies first, in order to educate myself on the process. I saved Heritage for last, due to its great reputation. It was without a doubt one of the GREATEST decisions I have ever made! Gabriel's team consisted of a Gemologist who carefully studied and appraised all the jewelry. He had an Antique Expert, and a Expert at his fingertips who combined determined the value of EVERYTHING--from old cameras to RARE cameras, as a small example! Their team, all of who were extremely professional, and each with their own expertise, organized, sorted, and priced every item in the home, careful to set aside anything I didn't want to part with. Over a matter of DAYS they had this cluttered mess into a beautiful home, with every item displayed and priced! The weekend of the sale was unlike anything I could have imagined! A select number of people were let in at a time, avoiding any chaos, a security guard stood watch at the door in case anyone had "sticky fingers," and team members appropriately placed in each room to answer questions, as well as to watch over my possessions. After the 3 day sale, my home was empty and immaculate! I not only received a LARGE check for my share of what they sold, but an additional itemized list with dollar value of any remaining items that they donated to charity afterwards. This was NO GARAGE SALE believe me! Their expertise commanded top value of everything they sold! I could continue with so many other aspects of this company's incredible professionalism, the respect the showed to me throughout the process, the understanding and compassion they exhibited with obvious items of "old junk" were nonetheless "my parents" old junk, taking the same care and consideration as they did with many things of obvious value. My parents home was NOT an "Estate" it was not filled with precious antiques or exquisite fine jewelry or artwork. But as Gabriel continued to reinforce to me, everything has some value--even paper clips & post it notes--and the combination of those little things along with more valuable things brought me at least TEN TIMES the money I anticipated, along with a completely empty and immaculately clean house to put up for sale! I have since spoken with other people who have had Estate Sales by other companies, and when I tell them about my experience they KICK THEMSELVES for not finding a company in their area that left them with anywhere near the stress free and financially rewarding mine was with Heritage! They surpass ANY of their competitors, and it would be in my opinion a mistake to work with ANYONE ELSE in the EState Sale community if you are lucky enough to be within the area they service!!!! read more

As a long time shopper of estate sales and collector of art and antiques, I was extremely disappointed with my experience today. Arrived at the Encino sale at 11am, was still standing in a line with the same people at noon. The line had not moved even though we saw multiple people leaving the sale with their goods. As customers started asking questions to the security guards that were armed with guns! They began to threaten us with not ever letting anyone in if we all could not get into a single file line. In addition to many other disrespectful comments, the security guard actually said "I shut this line down already for an hour and I will do it again." Wait, what??? So I'm coming here to spend a couple thousand dollars and this is how you are treating us? We are not in line at a 20 something night club. Never in my life have I experienced anything like this, so myself and many others decided to leave after we all felt belittled and disrespected. read more
