I've had about 6 different areas refinished using their services since 2009 and consider them my…read more"go-to" company for wood flooring. Recently I found out they do tile also. Had I known that previously I would have given them the task of redoing my kitchen backsplash. Unlike most contractors CKC is a relatable husband/wife team. As a female customer I always felt comfortable and not spoken down to like I have with some home improvement companies. Katina is the office wiz and often does estimates, while Chris is the job foreman but will do an occasional estimate. In prior homes I used other flooring companies with varying degrees of happiness. I found CKC prices to be fair and their work quality high. I don't remember how I discovered them but I never saw them advertised anywhere. In the early stages of using them Chris did the work personally. In recent years I believe their business has grown so much that now his son does the actual install. Nevertheless I've not had a floor transformed that I was not happy with. Including my dining room which I thought was too far gone to save. When we removed the carpet we discovered thick tar like paper backing material stuck - yes stuck - to the original hardwood floor. It had been there for many years, probably glued intentionally by a previous owner. After trying to scrap it myself with no success I really thought this floor was a total tear out. After three days of work by CKC the floor was resurrected into a timeless hardwood beauty. Not one ounce of its former life, with the paper adhered remained. Thus began my long time relationship with CKC. My only disappointment as of late is that sometimes it takes a few days from them to call you back concerning an estimate, scheduling, or question. On the last job I wish I would have notified to tell me my floor is completely finished and when it can be walked on. But I believe this is due to their ever-growing work load. Overall I am a very satisfied customer and would and have recommended them to others.

THREE WEEKS LATER I called and found out they had just forgotten to put me on the schedule. Then when they showed up, they didn't have all the tile they needed (pattern needed three sizes; they only gave them two and told them to cut a bunch - no factory edge!!) Update: To their credit, they did track down the missing tiles and brought them to the house after I told them that if the manual cutting of tiles ended up making things look wrong, they were going to have to redo everything. The guy who brought the tiles (I think he may have been the owner) told me flat out that they prioritize their commercial work because "businesses have to keep a schedule." In the end, they ended up doing a nice job, but didn't leave spare tiles or grout behind. I will avoid these folks in the future.

Our floors are engineered pecan. The actual wood measures about a quarter inch. Because of this, the work was challenging. Randall explained his entire process to us before the work began. He and Mickey paid attention to every detail from start to finish. Plastic was put up around the sanding areas to limit the dust getting into other parts of the house. A special vacuum was used during the sanding process to keep the area as dust-free as possible. Then the floors were coated twice with a low luster, water-based product and we love the finish better than the shiny floor we had prior. The finished floors are beautiful and make the whole house look like new. I highly recommend Kevin Smith Flooring to refinish your hardwood floors. One of the reasons we chose this company is because floors are all they do. They are knowledgeable about everything hardwood floors. Their work is high quality with reasonable pricing. Chris and his son, Andrew, just finished a master-bath remodel job for us. They were…read moresuper-friendly, respectful, and so easy to work with. All upcoming work, delivery status, etc., were well-communicated before hand. They always showed up, not like many contractors who work for a couple of days and then leave you hanging for days or even weeks. The job was completed on time for a fair price and there were absolutely no extra cost surprises. Honesty and integrity are hard to come by these days. The demolition work (gutted down to the studs) did not create the mess that we had expected. They took extra care to keep dust/debris out of the rest of the house and thoroughly cleaned up at the end of each day. Chris made some excellent suggestions to improve our architect's design, especially when it came to the details. For example, he suggested a curbless shower and running the heated floor into the shower; increasing the height of the new trayed ceiling (used to be vaulted); and changing the supported bench to a boxed-in bench to make cleaning easier. We couldn't be happier that we agreed to these changes. The workmanship was outstanding. We selected large format porcelain tiles with very narrow grout lines. The installation came out perfectly. The shower-glass installers even commented on how good of a tile job it was. We feel very lucky to have contracted with TriCounty Flooring.

We hired AK Marble & Granite in October of 2021 to remodel our kitchen. They were to do tile…read moreflooring, base cabinets, an island, pantry and granite countertops. After a year we had to take them to court because the installer never put thinset under our tile floor and the floor is lifting. Grout continues to pop out to this day. We told AK about this and they came back to try and fix it but their way of fixing it was to just add more grout which didn't resolve a thing. We never received the rollouts for our pantry or island as promised, yet the price for these items was to be included in our contract. They kept telling us we would get a discount at the end. Continue reading and you will see that my discount was an increase of $5,578.98. I asked how much of a discount for the missing rollouts and they said they would take $400 off. I will admit at first I agreed because honestly I was sick of dealing with them but then I realized that their discount was way less then it would cost me to get all the roll outs so I said we would wait until they came in. We most definitely never got a fair discount for anything or any of our rollouts. They never ordered the correct amount of tile for our floor although we were charged for 600 sq ft of tile flooring. AK told his installer not to lay it under our appliances because we wanted to save money yet the 600 sq ft which is in our contract was wall to wall. Which is what we paid and still to this day didn't receive. We did agree that they didn't have to go under the cabinets but we asked from day one and multiple times after that to go under all of our appliances. When we agreed to not have them go under the cabinets we were told there would be a discount as it would be less flooring but that clearly wasn't the case. The installer wasn't going to go under our washer and dryer in our mud room at first because AK told him not to and I had a fit! Who doesn't tile under their washer and dryer? I mean come on! When we went to visit their facility to select the granite we wanted we were interested in two different slabs. AK told us they were both the same price per sq ft. We selected one and the very next day asked if we could switch to the other and were told it would cost more. We should've ran at that point but we just gave them $20,000. Our total contract with them was for $31,800. I didn't understand this as the square footage wasn't changing. This was the one I wanted so I asked how much more and was told maybe $500. I said fine and gave them the ok to do it. The very next day AK's wife text me and said AK said there would be no additional price for the change of the granite. Although once we filed to sue them they filed a counter claim saying we still owed them over $5,578.98 for the granite. Funny thing is we already paid them what we agreed for the granite. We paid them $20,000 to start. Then about a week later they asked us to pay another $5000 for the flooring even though it wasn't completed but we paid it. Then they came and put in the cabinets and counter and wanted another $5000 which we paid. Our balance at that point should have only been $1800 but remember my discounts. They asked if they could come get the final payment of $1800 and they would drop off the last box of tile for my husband to finish the floors because they couldn't come back and do it and I told them no!! I said I would see them in court as this was ridiculous and had gone too far. They never mentioned an increase in our granite to me at this point either. They were increasing the counters costs by $5,578.98 yet they never mentioned it! We never signed anything that we were going to pay more for the counters. Remember I have the text from AK's wife saying there would be NO increase in the countertops. They never mentioned this price increase to us at all until we sued them. This company is crocked! Be very careful! We were awarded in court and their counter claim was not. However, now they won't pay. We need to hire someone else to come fix the job they did. Some of the granite is cut uneven which he told us was because our house is old. AK made the template. They claimed that they finished the job and we still owed them $5,578.98 yet we never received a final bill! They claimed in court that they emailed it. I checked my email and nothing. This was my discount people! Beware!! We never had time to even look at anything that they completed and they had their hand out wanting money. Now they asked if we would give them six months to pay what we were awarded in court. I don't want to wait 6 months. AK called us dumb faces and said he believes in god and he will see us in court and do what the judge says but he's not! We are having to go after him to force him to pay. We were asked when they thought we were happy to give an honest google review. Now they have their lawyer asking us to remove our review. Which I will not! I want others to be warned about this company!

It's hard finding good granite workers and it's nice to have a company that I can depend on. I will not use anyone else. They can fix damaged granite and replace broken ceramic sinks that are attached to granite tops. This is not easy work but they make it look easy.
