His prices are competitive and fair. I was surprised how reasonable the job cost. I had been putting off refinishing my dining room, stairs and spare room but I now ask myself why I waited. I had gotten several estimates, but Mr. Varnes was equal to or less than others. He came out to measure very quickly and had my estimate to me in less than 24 hours. Other companies took days to come out and actually showed very little interest in doing the job. The men working for Mr. Varnes were wonderful. Courtesy, on time, friendly. We found them to be thoughtful about what made sense for our home and circumstances, meticulous about details, and careful with our furniture (which they cheerfully hauled back and forth). They also took great care to mitigate the dust from their work, putting up plastic sheeting on adjacent doors, and covering the contents of closets. Other small--but telling--things: the crew was always on time, was invariably friendly and polite, and they worked around us and our unhappy little dog with grace, consideration and good nature. We installed new hardwood the living room, refinished the abutting floor to match the living room, and installed pre-finished hardwood upstairs. We had carpet removed from master bedroom and 2 layers of vinyl ripped out in the kitchen. Then they installed hardwood floors. They matched the new floors to existing hardwood by tooth feathering into existing hardwood. Beautiful work! They also removed 2 half walls, moved an electrical outlet and put drop cloths everywhere and cleaned up every day before they left. The painter was meticulous. The electrician was conscientious. I had a relatively small job - removing carpet and finishing steps and a landing. I met with the owner who mentioned if I was willing to paint the risers, it would save me some money so I said sure, I dont mind painting. The day after the job was completed, I was able to see the work. The quality was not good at all. I contacted the company and they quickly said they would come back to repair. The day after the repair, the job still wasn't complete. There are nails and staples sticking out of the risers and the top piece of wood is rough. I contacted the owner again and was told that was not included in my quote despite that the day prior he said it would be included in the repair. I now have to pay someone else to come finish the job. I do not recommend.

Ryan (who is a very nice person) came out and said the blind couldn't be fixed, but since it was under warranty, he would take the broken blind and work with the manufacturer to replace it. Unfortunately, I never heard back from Drapery Crafters despite me leaving at least a dozen voicemails and messages on their website. While we really like them in the past, they aren't going to succeed in business if they don't follow-up on calls and go radio silent. Not sure what happened to this company.

Carl came to the house right when he said he would. He was pleasant to deal with, told me the options and was patient with me. I placed the order and it came in 7 weeks, just like he said it would. His 2 sons arrived and proceeded to work. Efficient, clean, polite, great humor and they took the old blinds from downstairs and installed them upstairs.
