The parking lot set up is awful, especially since no one in Suffolk seems to know how to drive or park in parking lots. Now counter employees- one lady is very nice. The two old men however - Andy and I forgot the other old man's name - let's just say his voice and personality is like that of Bert from Sesame Street - these two old men are creeps - Andy especially. Very, very rude. Each time I been in there and got stuck with him, he would make rude jokes about my business name, one day when I finally had enough of it, I smiled and corrected him for this - explaining the pronunciation of it correctly and why it has that name. His response was "oh i know i was only joking" - the other old man was helping him this particular day and he gave me a dirty look. I had 20 packages going out that day, all over the nation - every single package arrived to the recipients badly damaged - considering they went to 20 different locations in the USA - I know exactly where it started - and I'm certain it was these two old men who done it. Post Master took a report, but I refused to go back there - been going to the Selden Post Office - never a problem and all employees are very nice. Fast forward three years - I didn't have time to go to the post office, placed two small packages inside my mailbox for pick up - post office being, of course Farmingville - the packages were two small bubble mailers, light weight, well wrapped, under 2 ounces each and shipped via ground advantage. Two weeks after shipping, still haven't arrived to their destinations (two different states) - I get an email from my shipping service stating the USPS - - my local post office repackaged both packages in flat rate envelopes and up charged me $8 each because that also changes shipping class to priority...I call - Post Master isn't available and never called back. Two days go by, both recipients finally received items - inside these flat rates is the original bubble mailers - which appeared to have been cut open with scissors, items shipped inside were not inside, now my clients are fighting the USPS on their end as well, I finally speak directly to someone from the Farmingville post office about the situation, who said the packages were likely damaged so they repackaged them - here's the thing - besides the fact that one of of their employees cut open the packages, even if they were legit damaged- that doesn't give them the right to up charge me for their negligence, actually it means they owe me money - but now they owe me money and they also owe my clients the full value of the items they stole. Learned my lesson - will only ship packages with Selden Post Office. The only reason I gave two stars instead of just one is because my mail carriers who deliver are usually very nice.

I came to this library in July when I took an unexpected week off work. I was going through what I…read morethought was the worst thing ever and right now it may have actually been a good thing but in July even though I normally don't do this I felt I needed time off work or I might snap over this. So around that time I started seeing a therapist because I recognized I needed one. I had to print out paperwork, scan it and send it back to her and now I have my own printer at home but at the time I did not. The library was very helpful. I'm a librarian myself so I thought to call ahead of time and ask them about printing they told me everything I needed to know. I went in registered to use the computer, printed my papers out, filled them out, scanned them and e-mailed them and it was easier then it is a the library I work at but don't tell my co-workers that. The library is also so beautiful I could have stayed and looked at it all day.

Visited for a holiday event. Lots of vendors selling a variety of items. From soaps, jewelry,…read morechocolate and Boy Scouts selling wreaths. They had most of the vendors inside the barn or whatever it was and it was pretty cramped. We had to squeeze past people a few times. We browsed around and walked outside. It is situated on lots of land. Walk down the path and you'll see a still in use come the Spring, an old time baseball field. Keep walking and there's a farm. The kids enjoyed seeing and petting the horse, and sheep. There were chickens too. I would like to return when we can learn more about the property and the various houses on it. When you're standing on the one path, you're set back away from Main Street and it feels like you're transported back in time. The 3 star review was based on the holiday event we went to after thanksgiving.

this wee school library serves 47 students and the fire island community at large. the building is…read morenothing special but it gets the job done. i discovered it's existence while meandering the many pretty little paths that crisscross ocean beach. since then my memories of this fire island experience are as follows: a) one complaining delirium tediums bookworm eileen m. dispatched via bike with prescription for boredom antidote. upon return with prescribed elixir (a veritable mountain of books) blissful sounds of laughter and ocean and nary a whine to be heard. b) the sound of flip flops and a lazy walk . empty wagon to be loaded with the delightful tomes anticipated. butterflies and dappled sunshine, bare foot gamines and funny named cottages. the fire house and church, the congenial smiles and salutations. if you and or yours, read things in the blink of an eye, it behooves you and your wallet to check this place out! like most places in fire island, i suspect this place is SO (shoe optional). how great is that? (yes that is a rhetorical question)

Library in Greenlawn with event of a flower show exhibit on display. The library is on Broadway on…read morethe West side of the street. When coming in there is a circle area with a few parking spots. This visit saw Fall scarecrows in front and some garden flowers neatly trimmed with signage noting deGrootDesignsInc. Walking to the other side one sees impressively how big and long the building(s) are. Coming in at the Main (see pix) there are librarians at the book desk who pleasantly directed us to follow the others and the signs to the Centerport Garden Clubs 2023 Flower show within. (see review). Through and around we found it near the circle entrance we had parked at. Entering was a cute cubical display of Witch paraphernalia along with a book of course titled Son of a Witch, a welcoming teddy bear by the Friends little book shop and a sign of special thanks, listing the local merchants who support them. Displays at and on the stage entrance had smooth clean floors and well taped down wires near the steps. In one of the back rooms was a hospitality room with tables chairs and snacks for those to share or purchase. I met Kate a lovely and helpful member of the flower club who shared how much combined work and effort was involved in the set ups and displays. This is a true example of "Many hands make light work" and also maybe not so light work, to see the polished efforts of how everything in the library was so nice. P.S. this included the bathroom for Women (see pix) which was clean and pleasantly decorated. It is worth the visit.
