Growing up in the area I was always a supporter of the wonderful things this place does for animals, but I never truly appreciated the extent until I took a tour recently. I have worked in the Veterinary field for close to 20yrs in different cities and states, and never come across anything like SFC. We called ahead to see if they had time to give us a tour and they called back with a time to come. We arrived and a volunteer was promptly radioed to start our tour. The main building is quite the sight, they have many different cat rooms depending on their ailment and temperaments. Each room has many different beds, trees, toys, etc and they all have the option to be indoors or in a nice outdoor area with a view. So many of the cats have issues or need daily medicine and I cant believe all the time and money they put into these kitties. Some of them are adoptable, just ask and on the outside of each room there are pictures and description of the residents. Not only does the main building have cats, but there are turtles, birds, and some bunnies as well. The next part of our tour took us out to the barn where we met Donkeys, Ducks, geese, horses, and more. The barn manager was the nicest person and he went into so much detail about each animal and their story. He really took a lot of time with us. I cant believe all the specialized veterinary care they give these special animals, it must cost them a fortune, which is why it is so important the donations they receive. They just completed some improvements to that particular barn to make it better prepared for winter. They do what they can when they can and these animals are so lucky to be here. If you live in the area I am sure you have heard of SFC like I had and I strongly encourage you in one way or another at some point to come by for a tour or to one of their open house events to really see what is going on here. It is amazing. They can always use donations or volunteers, whatever way you can help the special mission this place is carrying out!

Bill told me just how to fix the PH, and when my poor little honey gourami (named Harold) lost most of his tail to a bacterial infection he got because of the stress he was under, he gave us great advice on how to treat him to save him from that, too. Now Harold, toughest fish I've ever known, is darting around his tank happily, surviving against all odds because of Bill's guidance! The tanks don't look the greatest, but I didn't see a single sick fish, including a lot of more delicate breeds. That's the important part- everybody looked healthy.

Got the kitten over the holiday weekend, so vet wasn't opened immediately. Got kitten there soon as they opened. What she was diagnosed with could not have gotten that bad over 2 days. Never got the pedigree I paid for. Just excuses. When I called CFA she never even registered the litter.

Ethical breeders are so hard to find. Breeders who truly care and raise amazing animals may appear to make you jump throw hoops of fire sometimes; but in reality all of us should be grateful. Our 10 year old cat has issues processing regular food and needs fiber. They told us she had…read moremegacolon and needed a variety of expensive drugs. Turns out they were WRONG and doing more harm than good. She simply needs more fiber in her diet... period. After setting up an autoship with Chewy to get her fiber food years ago, and years of a happy kitty, she was suddenly denied by the clinic during shipping with Chewy... They told us she needs to be seen. . . for FIBER. Not meds, fiber! So basically a month before Christmas, while most people are extremely short on cash, they want to hold my cats fiber food hostage until i put her through the stress of a car ride, and pay an extra visit fee on top of the ALREADY expensive food she needs... stress makes constipation issues WORSE in cats btw. We have 5 cats, 3 were rescued and we reared them up ourselves on a very tight budget. We DO NOT have time or money to play around with a vet for our special needs kitty. We're removing our cats from their clinic and going elsewhere. In the meantime we're finding other means of introducing fiber to her food such as pumpkin.
