When I called they told me that they weren't accepting clients at this time, but that they would take my dogs since my friend referred me, and she'd been bringing her dog to them for years. I waited two months for my appointment. When I arrived there this morning, I was a bit surprised when the owner asked me if I weren't from the area. It was as though she could not understand why I didn't have a groomer already. But she seemed coolly polite, so I didn't give it that much thought, especially as grooming can be difficult work. I told her that one of my dogs, Molly, a Maltese, had been in a puppy mill for five years. Since none of her former groomers had experienced any problems with her, my only concern was that she'd be frightened. Later on, when I returned to pick up my dogs, the owner told me that she had a great deal of trouble with Molly, though she had no problem with Rosie, the Havanese. She let me understand that she would not be grooming Molly anymore. I was surprised, to say the least. Psychologically, I felt that she was shutting the door in my face. I know that she didn't really have a problem with Molly. She obviously wanted to appear a certain way to the person who'd recommended me. She used Molly, an unfortunate puppy mill dog, to close her door on me.

Finnland's Fosters is a wonderful place that takes in cats who have been surrendered, dropped off…read moresomewhere and abandoned and have cared for every one! They get them fixed, if needed, shots , etc and screen adopters to be sure the kitties are going to safe and loving furever homes! The staff is wonderful and so caring of the cats and kittens that are there! They do rely on donations of money, food, litter, etc. to be able to take in more cats. They find foster families to care for mamas and their babies and post pictures of the available cats. I do donate as much as I am able. They truly do an amazing job!! They also have a gift shop to purchase items and that money goes directly to the caring of all the cats. Stop in if you're looking for a kitty to join your family- you will find the perfect one for you!!

They also provided very personalized touches.. When I picked my baby I was given a framed photo of her stay, report card and a tote bag with her food and medication that I had left with them. Seems like a nice facility with spacious outdoor runs. However, be aware that they require…read morevaccinations beyond what is required by the state and other boarding facilities (leptospirosis, which is an optional vax that our MI vet doesn't recommend beyond puppy round). That may be a plus for some, but it was a nuisance for us and resulted in our reservations being cancelled when we went to drop off and us being left without a boarding solution. Our dogs had successfully boarded multiple times at other NY and MI kennels with the standard vaccines, including the week previously at a different kennel in upstate NY. This miscommunication could have been avoided if Paw Prints had email so we could have sent our vaccine records ahead of time and discovered the discrepancy, vs finding out when we arrived. I would recommend that they revisit their vax policy to be in line with other facilities and general expectations, or at the very least invest in website/email in order to communicate that their requirements differ from other boarding facilities. When we spoke on the phone we discussed Rabies, DA2P, and bordetella but I do not recall them mentioning a requirement for lepto-- again, email/web communication would have avoided this negative experience.
