Do not trust this service department to perform services for which you are paying. I took my car in for an oil change and tire rotation. When I took it in, I had a tire sensor in the driver side front tire that wasn't working. I didn't have the $180 to fix it that day, so I just dismissed the notification and ignored the warning light when I started the car to return home. When I got home and ran through the instrument display to review tire pressures, the missing tire sensor information was in the same place, and all the tire pressures (Passenger front was 33 psi, Passenger rear was at 31 psi, and Driver rear was 33) that had been there when I reviewed before leaving the appointment were exactly the same. The tech didn't rotate the tires, but I paid for this service. My husband called the service writer that same afternoon 45 minutes before closing time and was directed to voice mail. He left a message describing the problem. We have yet to receive a return call. Not a very nice way to treat a customer who bought the vehicle from this dealership. I have to wonder, how many times this has happened in the past without me knowing about it. How can one know unless one has a situation that reveals they didn't do the work? You can bet if I buy another GM product, it won't be from Herlong! read more

I purchased a 1997 F150 from Herlong approximately 1 year ago. I was initially happy thinking I got a good deal on a low mileage truck. I was told the truck had received a 100 point inspection and full service. When negotiating on the vehicle I noted the air conditioning was not working and it needed tires. A deal was worked out for a lower price due to the tires, and the dealer agreed to fix the air conditioner. Well, the air worked great for one day, and then stopped blowing cold air. I took it to a local shop and found out all the hoses were worn and leaking. Cost me a couple hundred to fix. After working for a few weeks, the compressor went out costing me $1500. So much for Herlong fixing the air conditioner. It's clear they added some Freon and called it good. Next, I went to purchase tires. I then found out the front end couldn't be aligned because all the bushings were rotted and a rocker arm was broken. The repair plus tires cost me almost $3000. So much for the 100 point inspection. You would think an inspection that detailed would have noticed rotted bushings and a broken rocker arm. Finally, the truck began running poorly and stalling, requiring a tuneup. I guess a full service doesn't include basic things like changing plugs and wires. Another $500 down the drain. Not a major thing in itself I suppose, but when you tell a customer this has been done already, and add the costs of other repairs that were supposedly done or inspected, I am now out thousands of dollars. Not such a good deal anymore. Overall, I understand that this is a older vehicle and that things can break, however I was sold on this vehicle by the dealership's representation that this was a vehicle that had been inspected, serviced, and was in good working order. That was clearly not true. I feel as though I was hoodwinked by a shady used car lot instead of what I expected from a authorized Chevrolet dealer who claim to be reputable. read more

After coming in to look at a vehicle for my wife, I mentioned that I was looking for a replacement for my current truck as well. After stating what I needed in a truck, they suggested a new Silverado and was able to test drive and loved it. It was a bit out of our price range and after running numbers we realized that it wasn't going to work. We left with no pressure and received a text the next day asking what we could do to make the sale. I am 30 yrs old and this is my first negative review. I am doing so in an effort to spare you from the experience I had with this dealership. I encourage you to take your business elsewhere. Herlong Chevrolet engages in unfair and deceptive business practices for which I have spent an additional $2000 in order to drive my vehicle. Paul, Brad, and Ben Herlong lack basic professional courtesy after they have your money. During the buying process, Herlong said they found a way to save me $1000 dollars in sales tax. Thirty days after concluding my business with them, Paul notified me that they had miscalculated the sales tax and that I would be required to pay an additional $1000 to register my car. At its best, Herlong sales professionals made a $1000 error. At its worst, Herlong deliberately deceived me in order to get my business. Either way, it is customary for a business professional to own their errors and not roll the error forward to the costumer. Paul assured me 7 days ago that he would speak to Ben Herlong, the GM. Neither of them will accept or return my calls. (Thank you to Avery and Hope for your efforts in taking my messages to the managers.) I took my daughter to this dealership on Friday to purchase a specific used car they had. Of course they were super friendly on the phone and when we arrived. My daughter has stellar credit and was already pre approved with her bank which is who we wanted to use. I felt comfortable leaving her there to make the purchase once we went over numbers. About an hour later I received multiple calls from my daughter (who is 18) in tears. They ran her credit several times dropping her score dramatically and were screaming at her in the background on the phone. Once they realized how upset we were and I spoke to them they kicked her out of the dealership and told her to wait outside for her ride. Keep in mind we drove 45 minutes to get this specific car. My daughter had to sit outside and wait on a ride all because they were upset that they were not going to get their KICKBACK from the financing. I would not buy a piece of bubble gum from these fools. I have never in my life experienced worse customer service! read more

Took my 2011 2500hd duramax diesel for repair. My DEF system was having problems again for the second time since I purchased it. First of all NEVER buy a diesel!!! I spent $1,300 on basically a wild guess the diesel machanic made as to its issue. Just 2 days later after getting it back I was having the same problem I was when I first took it in for repairs. Then they concluded that it was another issue and not the one I paid to fix. They then wanted to charge me another $1,100 to actually fix my truck. I declined the service and went to pick up my truck. They then wanted to charge me a 50% restocking fee for the part they said would actually fix it, but I NEVER purchased that part! They charged me two diagnostic fees of $125 each even though they already diagnosed it once. I was then told that I have a new issue with it than I did before and said I needed to fix that too, but it didn't go into the repair shop with that problem before, it only came out with that problem..hummmmm I NEVER RECOMMEND anyone going to the Batesburg-Leesville, SC Chevrolet dealer repair shop!!! read more

Hello I brought my certified, low mileage 2016 corvette in to herlongs for hesitation when gas is applied , was told transmission problem they were going to service and wait til next oil change to see if improves. brought back for next oil change , no improvement in car , now claim not sure what is wrong but I will have to start with throttle body for $120 and go from there til find. This dealership should not be in business, I have over thirty years in retail and could not believe the dishonesty of this service dept.I would not do any business at all of any kind with this dealership. Our 2004 Dodge Ram was ready to be put out to pasture. Knowing we had to get a replacement was giving us nightmares. Not for the replacement but for dealing with a dealership. In the past we have dealt with dealerships that treat you as just another commission, not as a person. We looked on the internet and saw the truck we wanted to purchase; it was at Herlong Chevrolet. Our first interaction with Heather Busbee at Herlong was via text. The reason our contact via text is that we requested not to be called. After the couple of texts were exchanged Heather called us. Heather respected our choice of our initial interaction. Any other sales person would have immediately called us. We drove to the Herlong and parked our Dodge. We were pleasantly surprised that we were not mobbed by sales people when we were walking in the parking lot. We went into the building and were greeting by a gentleman asking if he could help us. We asked to see Heather. Heather greeted us with a smile and we went to her office. She explained some features about the truck and we took a test drive. We purchased a "gently used" 2016 Chevy Colorado from Herlong Chevy. During the purchase process we met with Brooke Scoggins who transferred our tag. Brooke offered us an extended warranty bumper to bumper. My point here is that Brooke did not pressure us into making the additional purchase. We chose to because the "new Colorado" only had 18000 miles on it. Clearly in our minds it made sense to know we are covered just as if we had purchased a brand-new car off the showroom floor. With our "new" vehicle we have free oil changes for a year. Free car washes for as long as we own the Truck. The comfort of knowing that we have bumper to bumper coverage for several years. To sum it up, if you want to purchase a vehicle new or used with no pressure, with people who respect you as a person and not as a sale, then Herlong is the place to buy your next vehicle. read more

Bought a car on monday. By Thursday the car was un driveable. I spent $3,000 on the car. I understand a cash car is as is. Blown head gasket and transmission issues, and when I contacted the dealer it was an oh well answer. I know $3,000 is chump change to these people but for a regular person like me it is alot of money. So now I am out 3 grand with 2 grand in repairs that i cannot afford so now I am out of a car with zero means of transportation for me and my family. i bought a new 2019 tahoe in october 2019 about 3 weeks later i noticed that the right rear quarter panel had been wrecked/damaged i was told by one of the owners that we do stuff like this all the time and that he does not have to report anything to car fax that he can do whatever he wanted to and that he would not do a buyback because he would have to sale my vehicle as used i told them i wanted a new car and the owner said that i should have seen the damage when i bought the vehicle and that he was doing me a favor if I allowed him to try and fix the vehicle however it was not visable at the time of purchase so therefore I would not have seen the damage to the vehicle the owner stated that when they fixed the vehicle the polish washed off when it rained so again there was no way that i would have seen the damage don't buy anything from them and there is something very wrong at that dealrship read more
