Buckle up! First impressions were great. Very responsive and flexible messaging to get you in the door. I came out to look at a 2010 Green Mini Cooper with almost 108k miles. I spoke with Tyler Turnage, the owner Aaron Turnage's nephew. I even made a point to tell Aaron's wife how wonderful and courteous Tyler was over the phone. He went over the top sending me my requested video of the engine and exhaust sounds with his personal phone. That coupled with the good and damage pics of the vehicles on their site was green flags! I told them I was impressed with them enough that I wanted to see how they could help me find a first vehicle for my son even if this one wasn't the right fit. I requested to take the vehicle on a test drive and get a pre purchase inspection and Tyler gave me permission. When I finally got back and let them know I was ready to talk on how to make it work even with some major mechanical issues I spoke with Aaron directly and he seemed motivated to help make some of those mechanical issues right in his own shop. We took the car over to his shop where 2 out of 3 major concerns and 2 out 5 of the minor concerns he had them begin to work on right away even owning and apologizing for one of his mechanics missing such a major issue (drive belt failure imminent) The issues: rear struts leaking from the top of the strut (his mechanic only inspected the side of the strut & told me they were both in good report) false, I pointed out the Class 2 Leaking valve cover gasket (to which he called seepage) which was clearly running oil down the side of the engine fresh with every drive, the Drive Belt (sometimes referred to as serpentine belt) was on the verge of breaking, the water pump pulley has cracks that are indicative of soon to be failure which would cause surrounding mechanical failures if it failed, some dents/dings/scratches. Those aesthetic damages could be overlooked by the year and mileage had the mechanical issues not been prevalent and the price not reflected excellent condition to which Tyler flat out told me is how they rated the condition and value. I gave a low number in order to create some wiggle room to negotiate a fair price considering all of the defects and mechanical issues that I would be taking on. Nobody wants to leave a dealership with negative equity on their purchase, however I would've gave a little more had there been any counter offer even mentioned to which there wasn't. I told Tyler thank you for the time & to please help me find something I would see the value in and I would gladly do business with him. Afterwards I was messaged by Aaron who was seemingly condescending through text to which I gave him the benefit of the doubt & another opportunity to give me a counter offer. Still no counter offer. Aaron, (the owner mind you) his response was disrespectful. In a nutshell he called me cheap and unreasonable. Might as well have told me to take a hike instead of reaching out with something closer to his number so we could make it work for his dealership and his Customer. I have only written 2 reviews that I can remember before this, I just want anyone going to Turnage in the future to be careful, get second opinions on mechanical worthiness, and make sure you do your market research. If this dealership found itself to be so deep into the value of this vehicle that they are unwilling to negotiate with a customer that puts in real time and effort to make sure they want something from them, then I am concerned for their ability to properly rate and price any vehicle on the lot! read more
