Not sure why so many negative reviews, probably people have nothing better to do but complain. People treat you the same way you treat them. Don't have different expectations just because you're a client. My experience with the Boston store was excellent. All associates were friendly and stopped to say hello even though I'm a new shopper at this location. I didn't have the chance to meet the Floor Director to brag about the service that I've received from Nana, but I will make sure to do so on my next visit. Nana is kind, professional and very knowledgeable. I've shopped with her 3 times so far and every time I get her full attention and wonderful recommendations. In this short time she's gotten to know my preferences, favorite colors and she recommends products that she believes I'd love. She wasn't wrong so far. I went into the Boston boutique this morning because the ties I wanted to buy my boyfriend as a birthday gift were recently taken off the US site. The store hours overlap greatly with my work schedule so I picked opening time to skip lunch and try my luck if Boston would have the tie. I was not greeted or looked at by the sales assistants which was fine at first, but this became strange as I stayed longer. Soon I had been there for 20 minutes and completely ignored. Sure I thought, the sales people are busy, I happen to be fine not asking questions. Door guy (not sales) sees me wondering what to do and tells me I can take the tie I want off the hanger and go to the checkout counter. There were two girls at the counter taking 15 minutes to checkout their tie. Not sure why they left their home address and everything and whatever, but sure. They started also to take videos of their purchase, selfie videos and videos around the boutique, which was behavior I had not expected. This was shut down by the door man thankfully. By the time they were done I had waited there for ~15 minutes, so when the sales assistant at the CHECKOUT counter calls for next one to be helped, I step up and tell him I would like this tie gift wrapped. This is when an old white lady decides to yell at me that "excuse me I've waited here for 15 minutes I was promised to be the next one to be helped" Now I have not been an Hermes customer before but I have shopped luxury many many times. This should not be my problem to solve, but since this lady decided to yell AT me to my face and not to any of the sales people, I decided to tell her that I've also been here for 15 minutes and that I created this line. She was not here when I lined. She responds to say that she was waiting way over there at the door, which in my humble opinion does not constitute waiting in line. She starts to yell about how she only has ten minutes to buy a scarf before she has to go to the hospital, which again seemed irrelevant to me and just sounds like she picked the wrong time to be here. I will also have to rush to get to a meeting now but that's my issue not hers no? In any case I tell her she can come to the counter and buy her scarf, and finally does she reveal she doesnt want to CHECKOUT a scarf, she wants to LOOK AT the scarves. Instead of apologizing to me, the customer about to pay, the sales assistant in front of me leaves the checkout counter to appease the old white woman who only wants to look at the products. WHY WAS THERE NO INTERVENTION FROM THE BOUTIQUE EMPLOYEES? WHY WAS IT MY JOB TO RESPOND TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER YELLING AT ME? I was dressed for commute, not for shopping, for the reason that it's 11:30am on a Monday and I have a job involving heavy laptops. I've sneakers on instead of my work shoes and I have a silly outdoors backpack that puts less pressure on my back. I am also east asian and have MANY MANY times experienced being overlooked by various luxury boutiques around the world because I look unassuming. If I had dressed like and had skin like the other customers in the shop, I dare say this old lady would not have decided she can take on that tone with me. And the store did nothing to protect me from ridiculous harassment. My checkout took 3 minutes. I was not asked my address, if I wanted an account, if I wanted a gift receipt (until I asked), the employees wanted me out of the way asap now that I had tried to shun off harassment myself. The worst experience at any Hermès I've ever visited. Every city I visit, whenever there's an Hermès store, I always visit and buy alittle something. It was weird at 1st entering. No one at the door. No one to greet us. The security guard didn't even acknowledge majority of people there. There were no SAs to be found on the ground floor. I thought it would be a quick in and out shopping trip because I knew what I wanted and it was there. At most I should've only been in there 20mins. But instead, I was walking upstairs searching for an SA to even acknowledge that there were several people downstairs waiting. Several clients actually walked out so pissed off. But the interaction that I am absolutely appalled by was by the security guard downstairs when asking if there were any SAs available for the ground floor. Was so extremely rude and snappy and condescending. He spoke to us like we were stupid. And we weren't the only ones he spoke like that too. This one couple walking out, he was rude to too. The husband, almost turned around and had a combative interaction. But he decided it wasn't worth it. That security guard needs to be fired. He lacks courtesy and awareness. He should've put the barriers up to limit people from entering, knowing there were no SAs available. Just also to keep the integrity and safety of those in store and the SAs too. He clearly did not care and made that very aware to everyone he interacted with. Meanwhile we have a pretty high spending history and long client history. Enough to be invited to shows and private events. So to be spoken to that way was so extremely disheartening and distasteful. Honestly to witness anybody be disrespectfully treated whether they have a profile or not, is not the level of class we are accustomed to by the Hermès company. I came on a Saturday and they were busy, busy. It make take a while to get an associate to help you, but you'll get help. There are two stories to the boutique. The bottom level is men's items and women's fashion accessories. Upstairs are women's shoes, clothes, home items and dog items as well. There is also a display of their leather goods, but they don't sell them. (We know this!!) I was looking into buying shoes this Hermes visit. I tried on the Happy Sneakers and Bouncing Sneakers and was in a slight debate on which one I should get. I tried on the shoes and took pictures to help me decide. That really was no help hahha. It's always so helpful when the SA gives some help when deciding on some items. I ended up with the Happy Sneakers because it's all leather and I wanted to see different colorways on the Bouncing Sneaker. In the future, if I do decide to buy the item online now at least I know my size. It told Sunny I was visiting and I was a little concerned with how I should transport my purchase back to the hotel. She wrapped up my items in the signature orange box with the brown ribbon with a plain unmarked white bag and covered the box with white tissue paper. She also included the orange shopping bag in my white bag. I ended up walking back to my hotel so I'm so thankful for the inconspicuous bag. read more

Wow! I am surprised to see the low rating here. If I had seen the Yelp reviews before entering the store, I would have hesitated. I didn't plan to go to Hermes, but due to the hurricane Debby my flight back to Seattle was delayed, so I had a free afternoon to hang out in Boston after checking out from the hotel. I have been a fan of Hermes perfume, so when I saw Hermes, I just thought I should walk in to see if they carry any perfumed soap or something along the line. When I walked in, there was a chain at the door, like what you normally would see in a museum. I stopped there for a few seconds, and the security guy just asked me to enter. Once I entered, I saw the perfume counter, so I walked toward it. The sales associate Kenny came over and say hi to me. He said I could feel free to try out the perfume and if I needed anything just let him know. He gave me a good free space to play around the perfume selection there without disturbing me, until I asked him about the size available in the store since I had to consider what I could bring in my carry on. The perfume I was interested wasn't sold independently for small bottles as it was sold in at least 4 bottles. I wasn't sure if I would want to carry that much, so I purchased the soap, which wouldn't trigger that liquid rule anyways. I explained my concern about the carry on rule for the flight, then Kenny was very kind to give me the perfume samples that I was interested in. After purchasing the soaps and got the perfume samples, I wanted to walk upstairs to check out some women items. Kenny walked up with me. I found a very pretty poncho, but it was in beige color. I was hoping it was in black. Kenny was able to find a navy color but the one they had in store was slightly bigger. I didn't buy, but I appreciate his assistance. I also went to check out shoes and other items. Although I ended up not buying anything other than soaps, Kenny was very patient with me. He didn't give me any pressure or any unpleasant feeling. When I walked down stairs, I found a long line waiting at the door as those people were waiting to be served. Maybe I was just lucky to walk in at the right timing without waiting. When I was browsing in the store, there were not too many customers in the store, so overall the store was quiet. For the price, it's not cheap, but well, it's Hermes. I am not crazy for their Birkin bags, but I love the Hermes perfume. If you ever have a chance, you really should try their perfume. I don't know if the company just hates the city of Boston but they have stuffed this particular store with the worst employees out of any of their Global retail locations. Unfortunately I was disappointed that I have to leave this review. I was visiting Boston for one day only and had an issue with a pair of shoes. Unfortunately the sales-rep was not helpful and I was in the store for almost an hour waiting for help after countless people after me had been assisted. I was planning to buy a few scarves and some RTW pieces but the experience left me wanting to leave the store ASAP. I ended up hearing back from my SA regarding something else so I just left wasting nearly an hour of my time. Do not go here if you're looking for a quick/seamless experience. I recently walked in on a Saturday and was helped out by Alex, he is the wonderful most caring person that I have ever worked with at a Luxury store. His dedication to the knowledge of the brand and the goods is clear from the moment you walk in, the store is a really good size and is split between 2 stories the top has home and women's stuff as well as jewelry with the first being silks and men's. Alex helped me pick out a silk that I really liked and explained it and also showed me the jewelry that I was interested in. Although they did not have any Birkins for sale it was nice to get to see one on display (they have an amazing display) I will for sure be back thanks to this amazing experience. I received a Hermes Apple watch with a band that was too big. I paired the watch for maybe an hour until after I tried on the band. I submitted the return and now they are sending it back to me because I paired it. In the meantime I purchased the watch with the Grand H band. I love Hermès but the Boston location and the employees do not make this a desirable place where I wanna spend money. This has to be BY FAR the worst customer service experience I've ever had. We were told to go browse and that someone would be right over. We went at 2:00 PM on a rainy Monday and the store had 1 older couple looking at scarves but nobody else. Staff watched us browse for 30 minutes without offering help acting as if we were invisible. It was appalling to be honest. Once I said something for the second time they put me in the front of the line of 12 other waiting individuals- not exactly putting me in the most comfortable situation. Returned the next day to a sign noting appointments were required with a minimum of 24 hours. Called to try and get in and walked over with my friend who shops there often and knows sales associates. We were ushered in but frankly underwhelmed by the whole experience and lack of customer care. They didn't have the item I was seeking but offered to order online. I declined because I would prefer to give the sale to the Madison employees who know how to provide decent customer care that you'd expect from a luxury retailer. If I could give Hermes and this store a zero star, I would. I am a repeat Hermes customer. I had an appointment at my Boston boutique today at 3:30 PM. I showed up on time. My salesperson saw me, avoided me for 10 minutes, told me he would be with me in a few after he had made me wait 15 minutes, and did not show up even after a 40 minute wait...all despite an appointment for that time. This guy was so arrogant that he did not respond to several texts from his colleague; he had my cell number and after I left the store without him honoring his appointment (and wasting a good hour of my time), he did not even text an apology or anything. I spoke with the store manager. I shop a ton with the best and finest, and I have never seen more arrogance and indifference from any retailer ever in my life. The whole experience from a high-end retailer of this repute (where I am a repeat client) left me and my family appalled and in utter disgust. It is a shame for a company that claims to pride itself in its heritage. Obviously being customer friendly is not one of their traits. Being snotty beyond repair most certainly seems to be what they excel at. I used to have a wonderful salesperson at Hermes before this guy was assigned to me because that lady left the company; and now I know why. Nice people must not have a spot there apparently. In town for the marathon and decided to stop in to shop. This is not my home store and I'm glad for that. There was at least one other person of color waiting to be helped and no one could acknowledge our presence or even say, hello, I'll be right with you. As a regular Hermes customer I commented when a salesperson (who couldn't be bothered to acknowledge me anyway) said something about a shoe to the client they were helping. She was nasty to me and even the other patrons were taken aback in the tone of her voice towards me. Eventually another salesman came upstairs and was lovely in his interaction with me. Several years ago I purchased an Hermes fragrance that reacted with my skin leaving a rash. I had driven from the suburbs on my lunch hour to see if it could be returned. What I was given was "the bum's rush" the rather quaint male employee initially said he would look into it and disappeared momentarily returning with a tart response that I couldn't get a refund or credit and that I should give the fragrance away!? To whom? I wasn't told! I reminded the clerk that "I was a customer in his store and didn't expect to be spoken to in that way or be treated in such a horrible manner!" Mr man returned with a Store credit. Since I was soured, I phoned the NYC location. Amazing to me the customer service staff declared the Boston location the rudest and the one in which they received the most complaints. I asked to have my credit converted to a cash refund and please remove my name from the mailing list and emails. I was refunded my money. I have since returned with a dear friend who married an oral surgeon and she dripping in Hermes. I would think the service would be better and was for her. Came in to purchase a gift for my SO and it was my first time in store so I didn't know what to expect. There was a walk-in line which I waited for about 20 mins; 3 people were in front of me which wasn't that long of a wait but I would recommend an appointment before hand, just to be in and out and avoid the line. Hermes is, arguably, the best of the best when it comes to textiles and leather goods. It is one of the few remaining brands with quality that is, essentially, untouched over the ages. They way things were done then are they way things are done now; hand dyeing, cutting, stitching, etc. They offer a huge selection of goods, from clothing to purses, wallets, belts, house decor, baby items, and so fourth. The first time I visited the Boston location was about 2 years ago. I had always passed by the awnings and peeked into the window, but never dared set foot in. I finally mustered up the courage to go in and I'm very glad I did. The sales people can be a bit snobby at times, but they're all extremely kind and know the products inside and out. They'll sit with you for as long as you want, going over various colors, materials, styles, and the like. Prices are quite a bit higher then you'll find anywhere else (they make LV look like a bargain) but, as they say, you get what you pay for. I had a belt custom made for me to a specified color and size, and after wearing it constantly for almost a year, it still looks like new. Don't be afraid to ask to see something, they're more then happy to let you, and they usually have more options in the back room to bring out for you. They have a few smaller / slightly less expensive items that make great gifts for the significant other (male or female), as well as a many once in a lifetime pieces. High-end boutiques can be pretty intimidating, and in some ways, are pretty counter to what I usually do/buy. However, I'm a big fan of Hermès fragrances - they are sheer genius, all of them. Their presentation of their fragrances is great; all the bottles are available for viewing, holding and spraying. I was gently asked if I needed help, but the sales people weren't pushy at all. I got a nice amount of samples when I'd purchased a bottle of Elixir des Merveilles. I noticed that the staff is multi-lingual as well. Hermès makes many different kind of objects (from porcelain to scarves, to jackets and purses), so there is quite a bit to look at, although the shop itself is fairly modest in size. I've found the staff to be very friendly, although it must be challenging because some of the tourists wandering around can be pretty demanding. Horribly rude and unhelpful staff! I was not surprised to see other unhappy reviewers state similar complaints. I too shop at Hermès worldwide and this particular location does NOT live up to the Hermès stellar reputation for customer service. I'm not going to waste my time going into details. Suffice it to say my experience was quite similar to most of the other negative reviews here.
