I had a question on my claim. Caroline researched it and answered all of my questions. Also, she helped me get hard copies of my dental Report to Member mailed to me as I have my medical ones mailed. She called the Dental unit and Consumer Web Support area to complete this! She explained to me that PPO doctors are also participating with the Federal Plan. I really appreciate her patience and understanding in helping me. Thanks Caroline! Shout out to Kristen too who followed up on letting me know how my dental RTM will be handled in the future as I requested! Excellent Customer Service all around!!!

Regarding the phone system: It was either never adequately quality tested OR the company (HMSA) is using it to frustrate patients into giving up on calling them for help. Regarding Chris: I told him I had a general question about coverage for a specific procedure. He asked me if it was about a service my wife had recently. I said it was related to billing on her service, but I told him I only wanted the general policy of HMSA regarding this service (as to when it would be considered preventive or diagnostic). He refused to answer my general question because it was inspired by a service she had. I told him that I did not want to discuss her procedure or her bill, that I only wanted to know their policy, but he stubbornly refused to answer that simple question. I've had enough of this type of bs.

Each time we complete the kit and send it back to UHA for testing, we receive the result by mail, and following a month+ later, we each receive a $50 target gift card. Yay! Very convenient, SUPER AWESOME, SO MUCH APPRECIATED! Now a not so fun fact: Twice, mister's monthly prescription drug was suddenly declined for coverage, it got so expensive, we had to apply for a coupon directly with the pharmaceutical. There was another temporary prescription that was declined upfront, which my husband against the doctor's orders, refused to take it since our cost was unaffordable. He worked hard to watch his health, and struggled for 3 years to heal on his own, without the help of medication. Can't complain much, as UHA is our only choice for medical insurance coverage paid in full by mister's employer. Was advised that the cost for UHA monthly premium is less than with other large insurance companies.

A problem arose because he had changed to his current provider in Jan, and by Medicare rules you're only allowed to make 1 change during open enrollment. Michele contacted Medicare and was able to get an application put through due to an exception to that rule because of a unique situation involving his current insurance provider and his current healthcare provider. What's most impressive about all of this is that because the application had to be submitted by Medicare, Michelle basically did all of this on her own. He'll be getting together with her on day one of open enrollment in October to upgrade his plan.

Fortunately, I was using a type of co-insurance at my main dental office and I renews every year. With this insurance, the cost of regular checkups including tooth cleaning twice a year is free. But I started thinking about a little more fulfilling insurance, so I called HDS and asked questions. I was able to understand what I didn't know until now by their explaining. Even if I have insurance, I will not be eligible for insurance treatment immediately, and I need a waiting period of up to 12 months. However, even during the waiting period, it seems that I can get a discount on the treatment fee at the dental clinic as an insurance member. When I heard this, I immediately decided to enrollment online. Normally, if you complete Enroll by the end of each month, you will be treated as an insurance member on the 1st of the next month. You will receive a card at home in about 2 weeks from registration. Currently, it seems that the downtown office has nobody but the customer service office is above. So when I called customer service with the phone installed at the entrance of the HDS main office, the staff came down immediately, opened the office, and explained various things and answering my questions. I certainly thought it was a little inconvenient system, but I was relieved because the staff who responded were very kind. It can be said that the fact that there are so many dentists in the HDS network has a high point for me as a resident of Hawaii. Well, I will gradually know how much benefit I have from joining this insurance in the next year. You're misinformed by listening to well intentioned family, relatives, friends and acquaintances and totally uninformed thinking you can believe and listen to Social Security or Medicare personnel. They're not responsible for misleading you or giving you false information, you are responsible for yourself. The Medicare guide is nearly 1/2" thick with some information like an overview not all information and elderly seniors like myself have a limited capacity to retain and comprehend everything I read. You need an EXPERT who knows the Medicare system and all the supplements which you may qualify for or actually need to supplement original Medicare depending on your situation. My uninformed friends thinking Medicare is sufficient until they see the bill or the cost of prescriptions and there are prescriptions they don't cover at all. Like the saying goes "it's better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it" and supplemental coverage may be exactly what you need and never knew you needed it. Vance is a professional individual, intelligent and honest person who will help you navigate the Medicare marketplace and answer any questions. The first woman was so great - answered my initial questions, then took me over to the cashier to pay for his premium. The cashier was so friendly and it was like we were old friends! After I was done with that, the first staff continued to give me info which was so needed and clear. I left there feeling so empowered and no stress!!!!
