Okay, the customer service is great! That I can't dispute. However, the food is so off. I ordered the surf and turf. I requested my steak to be medium rare and it came out medium well. The three pieces of shrimp was battered in corn meal and was supposed to be deep fried. Apparently no one back in the kitchen knows how to fry. The batter came out raw. And when I asked if the could have my meal replaced I will have to wait another hour just to get it right. Well, by the time my meal came out. My company had already finished their meal. I'm pretty disappointed that we drive out here for something different and got exactly that! Wait time is unreasonable. The bad: my steak was ordered medium well, and it arrived well with maybe a teeny tiny pink line in the middle of the sirloin. My husband's mashed potato side was saltyyy. My SIL had ordered a medium steak but had to return it because hers was charred and overdone. They didn't even do damage control and offer anything to compensate. What a wonderful dinner on 7/15/21. We walked down from the BW after seeing this on Yelp. Very cool place and atmosphere and we sat at the bar. The bartender (forgot his name) but he made our evening so enjoyable. Made a great Margarita (I'm picky) and not only gave us great service but everyone around us. We ordered the surf and turf with 2 sides and 2 salads and shared. Salads were great - homemade ranch, cheese bacon and homemade croutons. Surf and turf - fried shrimp were awesome and the sirloin cooked medium rare wasn't as chewy as I thought it would be. So surprised- since that's not our usual cut of meat. But the sides yall! The salad was very fresh and I'm glad I ordered it. I opted for the daily special and kind of expected the ribs to be tender and they were not. The barbecue sauce was tasty and it came with pinto beans which were lukewarm and I opted for no other side since there is a substitute policy. My drink was the South Texas Punch and it was well made. This was my first time with family who live in the area and indicated this was the go to place. Salad bar had many items to include two types of soups. All fresh and tasty. I have to echo what a previous poster said. This is overpriced, glorified diner food and not even as good as diner food. The Britsch nachos, which cost $16, were a few measly greasy chips with a sprinkling of cheese and ground beef. Their "famous" Alvin's pepper steak was an inedible hockey puck stuffed with jalapeños and secret sauce served with cold fries. My wife's tuna also came to our table cold. This place just does not do it for me. Not one bit, which is why my review is now going even lower. I have been here a handful of times but after Saturday's experience; I can say I definitely do not recommend and I will not return, especially to the bar area. I'm mad at myself for not catching her name, but the bartender on duty that evening downright ruined our evening and made me even question why we went there to celebrate our friend's birthday dinner. We were sat down at the bar for 2 minutes with our menus after ordering drinks; the bartender came over and literally STOOD AND WATCHED us for 2 minutes straight while we looked at the menu and let her know we needed more time (I am really not overreacting; imagine how AWKWARD this would be). My friend even made a joke to lighten the mood on how we needed more time; but she still stood there watching us. In addition, throughout our entire dining experience the bartender would stand in front of us, talking to the other wait staff about customers and about their co-workers. How extremely awkward to be caught up in another person's drama. I get having a bad day, but honestly, this was just too much and extremely inappropriate given the fact that we are paying customers and having to hear all of this while we are trying to enjoy our evening. Last but not least, several times my friend would ask her a question as she was walking past us (we were no longer the only ones at the bar towards the end of this horrible experience) and she blatantly ignored him. My wife and I ordered the sirloin for 2 -- a 36oz steak, with 2 sides, and 1 trip to the salad bar (each). I'm usually reluctant to order sirloin because I prefer tenderer cuts of beef, but this steak blew me away. It was cooked to a perfect medium rare, as requested, and was seasoned just right. It was also not laden with large amounts of fat. My wife got the butter corn for her side and I got the grilled mixed vegetables. Both were fresh, and tasty. The salad bar is small but has all the main characters, to include a few surprises like 2 different kinds of pasta salad (good), potato salad (not so good), and these beautifully seasoned raw onions (great). They also had 2 soups on the salad bar but those weren't included. This is one of those places that people from the surrounding community go to give mom a night off from cooking duty. When customers entered, many were recognized by others already dining. There was a real community feeling to the place. When was in town came here twice, both for late lunches and was pleasantly surprised. The food is great and was amazed both times! First time had chicken cordon Bleu and was surprised how they did it, but it was great! Second time had a burger, and while was good, not the same taste as the chicken. When walking into this place your first thought is boy this is not what I thought it would be if I'm paying $30+ for a steak. Wait staff was nice and that's the only bonus to this place. There were 3 of us 1 ordered shrimp and mashed potatoes. The shrimp were standard size nothing big an ice cream scoop of mashed potatoes. $20 for 6 shrimp. Outrageous! Another had the sirloin and loaded baked potatoes steak was over cooked and dry. The potatoe hand about 4 pieces of bacon and 5 chives on it with little Cheese and they had charged us $.75 for the bacon and .25 for chives extra, are you kidding me that meal was $25. Last meal was the filet it was so small you need 2-3 to eat to be full potato wasn't warm. That meal was $30. We all got a house salad which was the best food but 1 got the salad bar which they charge you 2.99 extra give you one trip and it's really No different then their house salad because you can't get a decent salad in the small bowl and the fruit and noodle salads had no room to fit anywhere so the salad bar is a waste of money. It was just a huge joke for the price. When you mention to the wait staff they just say oh I'm sorry. Would never go back or suggest it to anyone. read more
