I recently requested a free estimate for a property in East Quogue which required extensive tree work. There were several dead and dying trees, and the remaining trees on the property hadn't been trimmed back for a good 20 years. They were overgrown. Every tree on the property needed work: either removal or extensive pruning (20+ trees). These are tall, mature white oak, pine, and maple trees. I called several tree removal companies for estimates. Santos Hernandez not only promptly called me back within an hour, he scheduled the in person estimate appointment quickly. He gave an extremely fair and competitive quote for the job after meeting me at the property and seeing the scope of work. He promptly emailed the written estimate and certificates of insurance (liability and workers comp) for review after our meeting. He was courteous, knowledgeable and professional, and I immediately felt comfortable. (I can't say that for other companies that I felt were subtly trying to manipulate me). We accepted the quote and the job was scheduled very quickly. The 4 man crew showed up early (by 7:40 am) on the day of service and promptly started at 8 am. They were polite and extremely hard working. They worked the entire day until almost 4 pm and it was a flurry of chain saws, bucket trucks, and stump grinders- a HUGE job. They raked and cleaned up everything. They all were wonderful. You can tell they are experienced in what they do. They removed all the heavy branches overhanging the house. They checked with me as to where they could move a bucket truck during the work. They had to drive onto the lawn at points to be able to get to all the trees (which of course I didn't mind). I appreciated being asked. In summary, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this company! Experienced, knowledgeable, efficient and they offer extremely fair prices! This is a family run company that takes pride in their work. I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. If I could give them more than five stars I would! Contacted Hernandez Tree service to have some trees cut back and pruned. Had an estimate a couple days later and the price was fair. They came back to do the service and it was completed professionally and quick, prior to starting they confirmed with me again on exactly what I wanted. We observed this team removing a tree around the corner from our Brentwood property. We stopped & got a business card. SANTOS is a great communicator. He was able to come by and provide an assessment. He assures his team's insurance and registration with business services. Two quotes were provided by email based on our consultation. He was knowledgeable about our interests. He gave suggestions which we appreciated. An email followed our discussion. All quotes & coms are simultaneous (text, phone call, email). We accepted the quote to remove very large oak trees. The price was competitive. The crew who removed the trees were productive, careful , clean and courteous from start to finish. The tree was cut one day. The second day was stump removal due to high winds a & equipment readiness. The teams were early which is on time for my standards. Crews were at the property 7:30 am, ready and setting up. During the services, the crew communicated all concerns such as moving the children's slide or any of our personal belongings. They performed the removal with rope as promised by leadership. Cleaned up as quoted. They left the stump mulch. We are fine with that mulch. We intend to use for a fence line garden bed project. I called Hernandez Tree Care at 9am. By 9:15 someone was here to give me a quote. I had 2 large branches that snapped and were hanging on or snagging on other branches. I got a great quote for trimming the broken branches and cutting the one hanging over my house and the crew showed up just a few hours later. They made quick work of the cutting and clean up. My ma hired them to take care of two precarious trees, one of which was massive and cracked and dangerously close to the house, and the other was close to the neighbor's fence and car. Their price was very competitive. The guys showed up when she was out with the grandkid, so I stuck around while the crew strategized and maneuvered equipment to handle this challenge. They were friendly and courteous and did everything just as she asked. It was impressive to observe and they did the work efficiently and with great care. Cleanup was good and they ground the stumps. A few months back we had a couple of trees removed from the backyard and a tree in the front trimmed. They left a couple of huge branches hanging over the street and one fell blocking the entire street. It wasn't a windy day or anything, the branch just fell. I had to chop the branch up and move it so that cars could pass. I called Hernandez and asked them to remove that last branch that is now on the verge of falling as well and clean up the rest of the debris. They wanted to charge me additional money. That is absurd. How did they not recommend that we remove those branches initially? They're the experts. I was very turned off and would not recommend this company to anybody. read more

Trying to get any tree guy to not only show up in June after Covid when EVERYONE is doing outside work , putting up pools, staying home for the summer etc has been next to impossible. Most tree guys have been giving me dates 3 weeks to a month out. Other companies also quoted me almost double the price for the same work. He came quick for estimate and was able to fit me in knowing I was having above ground pool put in. Guys who did work were quick, polite and good clean up. So, just staring into space one day I noticed a tree swaying with the wind in the back of the backyard. This three story, 2' diameter tree should NOT be swaying. After a closer look I noticed branches on the ground and quickly realized this tree is diseased. So I went on Angi and was connected with Hernandez Tree Svc. I just used Hernandez Tree Care Service to remove a dead tree, trim several branches, and to prune an overgrown tree. These guys were awesome! They worked quickly and safely. They carefully tied off branches, so nothing fell and hit other live trees or structures on the property and did a thorough clean-up when they were finished. requested a quote...told them i'd get back to them...2 days later i get a text that they were coming to do the job..i did not hire them at that point..i told them NO..i get another text that it was a mistake and they were coming the following day..i went crazy...these people are aggressive beyond belief...i just got another estimate for the same job and it's almost half the price by 50 bucks....no wonder why hernandez was in such a hurry to do the job...they didn't want me to find out what the job really should cost....aggressive, dishonest and ripp offs..... i would never hire these people ....EVER! read more

Winter tree removal. Great job at removing two of my trees in very difficult spots. One over my pool and one hanging over my neighbors house.
