I'm an Iranian American US military veteran and refugee from Kommiefornia and I have been starved for good middle eastern food, code named Mediterranean food, here in West Texas for months. I just found out about Heroes and had to check it out. They were very kind and clean, and did everything right. One bite of the lamb and beef kabob and saffron basmati rice brought me home. The guy comes up to me and asks me if everything is alright. I'm tearing up I haven't tasted kabob or hummus or falafel done correctly in ages and it tastes so good. I know it's silly to salt my food with tears but between the fresh pita, the tahini, and sumac I can't help myself. The dill pickle garnish was a little confusing and I am use to whole roasted tomatoes and yogurt with mt kabob, but I don't care. I'm happy for a fleeting moment here. Delicious and healthy! I ordered the Iraqi Kabob and the Iraqi tea and felt more energized after. Their food feels very healthy and the salad fixings were fresh. The staff was very helpful and cheerful, they taught me how to pronounce Gyro properly without making me feel silly for saying it wrong. Food was spectacular. Tasty,, satisfying and delicious. Breath of fresh air in Midland. From the time you sit down till you leave, you feel like you are in downtown Beirut or sitting harborside in the Dubai marina, due to the ambiance. Music is subtle, charming and well thought out. There was a wide selection of freshly prepared meals, appetizers and desserts. I was exhilarated to find authentic Turkish coffee. It was like coming home to sit down and eat here (even though I was born on the Western Canadian Prairies). Management is very friendly and accommodating. I watched a young give a rather complicated order and they delivered it exact to her rather specific tastes. Coincidentally, they delivered my order at the same time. Very well run. So I had the chicken shawarma wrap and I felt like it was just okay. There's really not much going on in the wrap. Chicken, lettuce, some sauce, and pickles. I thought that the pickles in the wrap was a little weird. Never experienced a Mediterranean place pickles in their food. It wasn't necessarily bad but I thought the taste was out of place. The overall taste of the wrap was just average. The fries that come with the wrap are lightly fried, so they taste pretty healthy. Goes well with the overall theme of the place I guess. My co-worker friend liked the pickles in his salad (I think he got the gyro?) though so each to their own opinion and it clearly works for other people. I thought the salad portion was pretty small for the price though. Maybe it's because my friend is a big guy but dang that salad looked tiny hahaha. read more

So this place has an incredible gyro!!! Seriously, 11/10. However, I wouldn't necessarily recommend their rice bowls or things of that sort. Their tzatziki sauce isn't really the norm, I feel like you either love it or you're really disappointed by it. I was the latter. It just wasn't as refreshing as tzatziki sauce should be in my opinion. However, it still worked out great on my gyro. Just didn't really blend well in the bowls or anything else. Their garlic sauce though, mmmmm!!! I liked this place, and I would go back! I'm a sucker for Mediterranean food and their gyro was good enough to get it again. The FIRST Mediterranean restaurant, and successful at that, to exist in Midland/Odessa. I am so thrilled that I can get a shawarma and Turkish tea without having to drive five hours away. The owner has impeccable hospitality and is very generous. My shawarma was so delicious and consisted of fresh ingredients. The pita bread was so fresh and tasted homemade. That's hard to find. I'm normally very excited to come and eat here and when I saw that masks were a requirement, it served to reassure me that requirements were being met to ensure my safety and others. Unfortunately, while I was waiting for my order, two individuals came in without masks and while they were offered a mask by staff, they refused to wear it and continued to sit and chat with the staff. It appears masks are more a recommendation and friends are exempt from this requirement. I left wondering if the staff preparing food is even required to wear masks/gloves or if they are exempt because they 'don't feel like it'. Needless to say, I won't be back. read more

Baba G, was something the cat dragged in, paid extra for saffron rice just a yell spot on white rice. Drinks they served in cans we had to ask for ice! I love the bold and bright flavors of Mediterranean food. That's exactly what this place lacked. They charged extra for absolutely everything. I got the saffron rice and had to put extra, but when I got my food it was like they put half saffron rice and half white rice in there. The family and I stopped for lunch on the way through town. The counter staff was helpful and friendly. The food was really good also. My sons ordered Gyro plates and they looked like good portions. My wife and I ordered the rice and meat plate with a side. The portions on these were fairly small and my wife's side of hummus didn't come with anything to dip in it. Normally you would get pita to dip. We had to order a pita which was extra. This and the small portions on our orders is the reason for the four stars, otherwise we enjoyed our meal. read more

FINALLY!!!!! I've lived in midland for a year and grew up in the Houston area. I missed this kind of food when I moved out here. The service and food are awesome!!!!
