I have to give Heroes 5 stars for being the only halal restaurant in the Midland area. They have a nice selection of lamb and chicken dishes. Not a big fan of pickles on everything, so I remembered to ask to have them removed on my 2nd and 3rd visits. My favorite dish was the Lamb Shank! Also, I like the Jasmine rice way better than the Biryani. The Biryani is not really a traditional IndoPak type Biryani, it's basically rice with chunks of potatoes that were added later and seem out of place. Would be better without the potatoes altogether. Overall, nice little restaurant, very friendly staff and tasty food. Definitely worth a visit or two. read more

Ordered hummus for an appetizer, and was surprised to receive hummus with no pita bread. I asked if any bread came with the hummus, and was told it didn't but I could order it separately if I wanted to. Really?!? That's a first. Hummus was very average......not great, but not bad either. Had the beef shawarma, and it was tasteless. Overall, the food was disappointing....and I have no clue how this restaurant has so many great reviews. Typing this as I eat... SO SO GOOD. I got it to-go and normally food doesn't fare well when taken out of the restaurant but this stands the test. Tabouli, Tzatziki, Hummus, Baklava, can't remember the names of the dishes we got... basically beef and chicken on the rice! Honestly this is incredible and will be my new "Chipotle" everything is so light and refreshing. You can tell the amount of love that goes into the food and it's definitely a family-run atmosphere I was lucky enough to witness a few family members including kids come in around dinner and they were all passing around olives and you can just tell they're enjoying what they're doing and it's enveloped into the food. Pita was so light and fluffy, I didn't feel one bit of guilt eating it. Will DEFINITELY be back. Do not let the location fool you, very special food awaits inside. read more

Awesome restaurant. Quality ingredients, great food, and fantastic staff! I ordered the combo Shawarma and discovered that it's not the typical processed meats you find but a higher quality shawarma that they have to make themselves. Also I have now been introduced to Turkish coffee. I am also no longer allowed to order Turkish coffee by my coworkers because they can't stand me when I'm this alert! The keto menu has also made it remarkably easy for me to get vegetables into my diet today especially since I'm on the go most of the time between work events. I truly appreciated the variety this restaurant offers because it is rather unique to the Midessa area. Where do I start with this place I've heard so many rumors of this place was good, we decided as group to go.. On arrival there was one table there with two people sitting.. We ordered the food Everyone order different plates so we all can try each other's food .. small potions, not fresh as they say, not for my palate taste wise..I am from back East and I KNOW what Gyros supposed to taste like this was nowhere near Mediterranean food.. Their sauce is not real Tzakiki and the hummus is meh. I would rather but it from HEB.. I guess you get what YOU PAY FOR.. all six of us will not be going back to this place ever again. WOW!!!!! .... just, WOW! Hands down the best quality food in Midland! Sure, that isn't saying much cuz Midland is whatever the exact opposite of a foodie town is (a food desert maybe?), but this place is still SERIOUSLY delicious!! Having grown up in SoCal where there is such a wide selection of food types to choose from and lots of competition, I'm used to a certain quality of food that, admittedly, is very hard for most restaurants in the Midland-Odessa area to live up to. But this place does exactly that! This is for sure going to be my new go-to takeout spot that I don't have to feel guilty about either because they have healthy options too. If you're an oil field worker and live in a man camp or are just looking for tasty pre-made meal options that fit with your diet, this is also a fantastic option as they sell pre-made meals! My favorite items from their menu (that I ate way too quickly, hence the lack of pictures to accompany this review): - combo shawarma (I got mine over biryani rice and topped mine with their delicious tzatziki. Only change I'd make is the option to remove the noodles from the rice. Then again, they do have plain rice as an option. But the potatoes and just general spices in the biryani are on point. The combo meat is DELICIOUS too!) - hummus (WOW! especially with their pita which is so fluffy and tasty!) - dolmas (I'm often not a fan, but these are super tasty! Not over-cooked, delicious lemony glaze... yum) - falafels (again, often not a fan because most falafels I've tried are too fried and a bit greasy. But these are crunchy and fried while still also tasting light and fresh. This was honestly the worst gyro I've ever had. The meat was so thin it was see thru. The tomatoes seemed canned. And overall, disgusting. It went straight to the trash after one bite. The baklava was not nearly as bad, but nowhere near good. Considering how much I paid the the meal, I'd have been better off at literally any fast food restaurant. International menu blows my mind! I cannot believe Midland has this hidden gem. Staff is very inviting/welcoming, they were more than happy to answer my many questions about their menu items. Had lunch here with my husband & grandson after learning about it on Daytripper. I have to say the food was delicious & we will definitely be back. My husband has the combo shawarma with rice & hummus, I had the gyro over salad. Both were very good. We had decided not to order food for the little one, we figured we would just share with him. When I got my salad the owner noticed that our grandson was really enjoying the tomatoes & cucumbers so he brought him a dish of his own, at no charge. Our grandson, who is 20 months old, loved the rice too. My husband also had the Jamaican tea with his meal & Iraqi Tea after his meal & enjoyed both. The reason giving 5 stars is the gentleman I met at front was very proud, in a good way, of the restaurant. He seemed to really care about my experience. It is small restaurant, with a lot of two top tables. I ordered a chicken gyro, and I cannot remember the name of my side, it kind of tasted like yogurt with cucumbers. My drink was a ginger lemon tea that I thought was amazing. I did not like the taste of chicken, to me it was dry and not any flavor. I did not like having a tortilla for the gyro bread. The side was just did not work for me. As I said in beginning the ginger tea will be bringing me back to try other entrees. I believe the chicken, maybe instead of chunks, maybe shredded with longer time being marinated or seasoned little more, with Greek olives. read more

so COVID is in full force and I was SUPER excited to see the mask required sign on the door. we decided to order to go(one other customer at the time with a mask) and were waiting for our order when a couple of gents walked in one without a mask and the other with a cloth on his mouth. they asked for the owner and he walked out and gave them both masks. they obviously knew each other as they began to speak as one guy puts the mask on and the other says no he wont and begins to twirl the mask in his fingers before he sets it on the table. normally i dont care about this as long as people stay distanced, HOWEVER, the owner was with him for a good amount of time before heading back and forth between the kitchen and the dining area-all while making contact with the man. it begs the question of what his staff is doing. i mean if you cant even ask your friend to wear a mask what are my expectations for the people we cant see? WE WILL NOT be back. i am an avid supporter of small and local but safety and cleanliness is expected. the sign said mask required - i ask you to please remove it if that is not the case as it is very misleading. read more

I absolutely loved this place! The service is great, the food is amazing, and the portion size was just right (I didn't feel like a pig when I finished my plate). I'm on a strict diet but I was able to order without any changes to what they offered. They even had unsweetened lemonade, something I've never had but is my new favorite drink!
