My son was craving pizza and we were tired of other pizzerias locally and national brands which just don't satisfy our pizza needs so he searched for anchovies and Heroes came up. The reviews were iffy but this is a clean place, bar atmosphere with a lot of repeat customers I'm sure, and they're pizza great!! I was taking a break so throw down, sat at the bar and order a beer and ordered a pizza and a calzone to go. It did take a while, but I was happy having a beer or two and chilling on my phone which is what we do these days.. we looked at the pictures online and my son decided to get a calzone with anchovies, pepperoni, and jalapeños!! I thought he was nuts, but this is a huge pie and lasted for two days meals! The crust was perfect he said, and I'd say the same for my pizza. I just got a pepperoni, black olive and mushroom medium pizza and it fed two of us easily and was one of the better pizzas that I've had in a while. We got some mozzarella sticks to snack on as well, which were hot and great cheese pulls . Bartender was fantastic and service was great. Highly recommend ! read more

We tried this place instead of Pizza Hut. I said to DH, "You can't mess up pizza, can you?" Boy did I regret those words. This place has the absolute worst pizza I ever tasted. And the fennel overpowers everything. Never again. The dough was actually stale and where is the tomato sauce. Yuck. read more

Not sure why, but we live in Winder and have never been here. We will be back! Cool to see a laid back, casual place that so many regulars clearly love, but newbies are made to feel welcome, too. The service was exceptional.. we were waited on by several people, all very friendly and helpful. I ordered the calzone - WOW!! It was the size of a large pizza. I really wanted a veggie version, which isn't on the menu, and our waitress totally hooked me up. The dough and marinara was homemade and delicious. I'll (gladly) be eating leftovers. This is literally school pizza. It tastes and looks like it came from my elementary school (my high school did a better job than this). The meatball sub was obviously frozen meatballs on an oversized hot dog bun. The fried ravioli was also obviously frozen but decent. The decor is also ... off-putting to anyone with sense. This was some great pizza! Came here with my husband and we met up with some friends. Sat in the back of the restaurant and it was really cool to see all the veteran pictures; so many of them were 50+ years old. The owner told us that customers had brought pictures of veterans in their family to hang on the wall. That was so special to us. Tried Heros for a second time ... just disappointed and will not return. When the owner asked my kids how everything was, they were honest and said "gross, won't come back". The pizza tasted as if made with old cheese, was overly saucy, and not appealing visually or taste-wise. The staff is polite, but polite don't make good food! I've been hearing good things about this place, so I decided to give it a try. As someone else said from the outside, you might easily miss it. Inside a very attractive atmosphere. Nice layout for dining or sitting at the bat. Very clean. The pizza (we had the Supreme) is the best I have tasted in the area. Staff are very friendly, courteous, and professional. Cheesy garlic bread actually has lots of melted cheese, unlike other places. And the bonus for me is it is only 5 minutes from home. read more

But for the resturant itself it is Owned by 1 guy who is verry kind and loves the military the esthetic of the restaurant is great. all in all the food is great and I would definitely recommend this place read more

Pizza was not cooked and the dough was like 1/2 cardboard and 1/2 doughy the cheese tastes like a moldy mess it's so gross, and the veggies were like a mush and onions were terribly strong tasting. The food also took almost 2 hours to get. This is definitely not a child friendly environment more of like the new biker bar hang out. I do realize that y'all are new but this is definitely not a good way to start off y'all's business. We definitely will not be coming back. read more

If this was supposedly the best pizza in town, I'd hate to taste the worst. Food was ok but not great. Service was very good. Nice people. Plenty of TVs for sports but place a little ratty. Great for ex-military, bikers and locals. read more

Food was horrible! Placed an order around 3:30 with a pickup time for 4:45. All three pizzas literally tasted like they cooked it as soon as the order was placed and just sat there until I picked it up which was about 10mins before 4:45. Ate here today for the 1st time I give it a 10/10 the chicken Alfredo is the best I've had!! The owners are friendly and welcoming!! This is a hidden gem in our home town and I will frequent it now!! The home made garlic knots are to die for!! And the fact they have gluten free options for my cyliac son makes it even better I'd love to see this place prosper they are the best I've had in a long time!!! today from Heroes I ordered a small pizza with extra cheese mushroom sausage and onions. Unfortunately, I did not realize that this pizza comes without sauce unless you order one of their sauces. I overlooked that and wish that whoever took my order would have asked me about sauce on my pizza. I've never had pizza my whole life without sauce. It would've made a big difference. unfortunately I hardly taste the sausage on the pizza maybe due to the extra cheese. The crust was nice and fresh. I just wish someone would have asked me about sauce. So I just give this a fair rating this time. It will not keep me from ordering from Heroes as I have enjoyed their food before. I'll just be more cautious on my next order. The restaurant is big enough in size to have big parties. They also have a full bar. Heroes is is a friendly neighborhood restaurant to go to. And friendly service. I picked up my pizza and it was ready within the given time frame. See you again soon. read more
