David and his Father helped me on the spot as I was traveling west back to California! After tooling around west Texas for a few days, my '79 camper bus starting "missing" - as if running low on fuel. Being literally 1000 miles away from home, I had that queasy feeling in my stomach that I might get stranded on some lonely expanse of Texas desert. After doing some quick research near Marfa, I nursed the bus to El Paso. As soon as I arrived, David and his Dad immediately jumped on the vehicle. I thought I'd have to grab a local hotel for at least a night - not expecting such service. After about 30 minutes, and few lines reconnected (that i could not see myself), they said all was fine. They didn't want to be paid for the service either - but I insisted. I was back on the road in under 45 minutes. Amazing. And yes, I made it back to California without incident. In this day and age, I really appreciate the immediate attention these guys gave me. I now proudly wear one of their stickers (David, "do you want a sticker?") on my bus window. If you are traveling near the El Paso area, don't know the area (like me) and find yourself in one of those "what's going on with my VW" moments, you are best served stopping by Herrera Service, right off Interstate 10, due south of El Paso. But i had to share my experience, my car's ac was not working and i am driving from Louisiana to California so i stopped by herrera service and i can tell you then went above and beyond they were so helpful. They had other cars to do but they insisted on helping me even though i came last minute. They were fast and I was in and out in ten minutes. First timer going to this VW shop and let me say I experienced superior customer service there. The A/C on my Jetta was not working properly but Brenda and her team were able to diagnose the issue quickly and repair it while I waited. The mechanics there definitely know their stuff, and so does Brenda. She is tech-savvy! I highly recommend this shop to any one that owns a VW. They will take care of you the same way they took care of me. This shop kind of reminded me of the good 'o'l fashion customer service from the old days, oh how I miss that. It is rare to see that now a days since everything is so "corporate". Their prices are so much better than the dealership or any other VW shops around there. Best car repair experience I've ever had since owning a VW (2008). Incredibly honest, efficient, and fair. My boyfriend and I both got our VWs serviced here last week, and were equally pleased. Poncho and Brenda are stand up people who are honest, and hard working. I take my Golf GTI there and they are very reasonable and do good work. I had ordered a performance clutch and I had numerous issues with the company I purchased the clutch from. They were very patient and worked with me to help get the issues resolved. Most shops would have charged me through the roof and would have not been so helpful on top of that. I would greatly recommend Herrera's to anyone looking for great honest service a good price!! read more

Last week, I stopped 3 times to talk to Alfonso Herrera, owner, about my 73 VW Beetle and to schedule repairs. We agreed that HE would tow my car to his shop on Monday, April 4, 2016 as my home is only 5 minutes away. I showed up at his place on Monday at 9 a.m. to remind him and to accompany him to tow my car. He said, he could not do it right away, took down my address, phone number and said he would call me before he came over. I waited ALL DAY Monday and Tuesday and he never called or showed up to pick up my car. I have a big problem doing business with individuals who do not DO what they said they WOULD DO. To me, personal and business integrity is extremely important and apparently this is a quality that Mr. Herrera does NOT practice in his business. BEWARE . . .
