First off, their receptionist is the type of person who loves to irritate you with stupid questions. Either that, or I am giving her too much credit because she's actually just stupid. She invites possible customers over and does not schedule them or let anyone know to expect you after she assures you that she will. For having scriptures printed on their receipts, they are the most dishonest mechanics I have ever dealt with. I took my vehicle for a simple alignment. They charged me over $120. I get a call saying that the camber will be an additional 250+. I declined and told them to align it without the additional cost. They went out of their way to adjust the camber to an extreme degree. So much so that the front end was vibrating on the freeway after 60mph. You could actually see that the bottoms of the wheels were tucked inward about 2 inches. It has never been that way. The wheels were not straight at all. Instead of doing it right they sabotaged it to an extreme degree thinking I would come back and pay the ridiculous prices for a simple $89 alignment which should already include Camber, Caster, and Toe. Careful, they will sabotage your car if you don't agree to pay their outrageous prices. DISHONEST. Using bible scriptures on their quotes/receipts to try and convince you of their honesty. TRASH. I will tell EVERYONE I KNOW TO STAY AWAY. You have been warned. read more

I brought my vehicle in to find out what the issue was. An inspection was done on the car. The mechanic claimed that the issue was the brake booster, then they came back and said it was the radiator cap and back brake. When the vehicle was picked up, they were asked if the car was suitable to drive a long distance and they stated that it should be. The warning light for the engine came on during the drive and the engine eventually died. This was not competent work. Had they properly inspected the vehicle and told me that the gasket was an issue, I would have made different arrangements and would not have driven it off the lot for such a long distance. In fact, I would've towed it. I left a message today inquiring about all of this and no one has returned my call. The car is now DAMAGEDabd I'm out $750!! I paid this establishment, $750 for nothing. read more

I am a Military spouse New to the area and my vehicle was overheating. Not only did they send me a full diagnostic analysis of what was going on, but it included pictures of the issue. As a female I feel like a lot of shops tend to take advantage and try to over sell you on things you don't need. I called ahead to inquire about services (oil change and coolant leak repair) and duration And was told if I brought it in within the hour they could have it done by the end of the day. I dropped by vehicle off at 10am and got a text update with a link to my vehicle's status and courtesy inspection status (which is pretty cool) around 2pm. However, the text stated "Hi Ryan, your vehicle is ready for pickup at Jay's Automotive! We couldn't find any coolant leak at this time." Even though my garage floor says otherwise. What I found out later, was that there was never a diagnostic conducted they simply checked the reservoir and said there is enough coolant in it. Their building is clean and the gentleman at the front was very courteous, but dropping my vehicle off and waiting four hours for an oil change and not even attempting to look at the other issue is problematic. *Update* Jay's reached out and asked for an opportunity make a better impression. Had my car towed to Jay's after seeing the good reviews they had. They were all so friendly and helpful. Gave me and my son a ride to our hotel and it was only a short hour and a half or so later that I received a call about my car. They told me it was something that would be taken care of at the dealership so I needed to tow my car to the dealership and they didn't charge me the diagnostics fee. They also sent a "digital inspection" which showed all the areas they checked of the car, gave a little information and/or a photo - very nice touch. WORST EXPERIENCE. Live in Marfa (nearly 3 hours away). Called on a Monday to make a Thursday appoint. Drove out Wednesday night after work to make the 8 am time the guy gave me. Get here and my appt wasnt in system. Ok fine, hotel was literally down the street and a 15 min walk. Asked for a late check out at 1 pm just in case. Checked out and walked back and my car was barely being seen. Work began at around 1:40. Said that it'll take 2 hours. Lo and behold it's 4:26 and still not done. Had plans to run errands AFTER my car service expecting for it to have been done by noon the latest since I thought I had an appointment. Now I have a late start on errands and will be making a nearly 3 hour drive back LATE. I would've rated it a zero but Sam at the desk was nice. But no, who ever is answering the phone needs to actually make the damn appointments and not just say "come in at 8 am". Wasted money on a hotel and wasted my fucking day. read more

My brakes started squeaking about 1 week ago while in San Diego and have greatly worsened, since. I found this business to be highly recommended by the Yelp community, and Yelp offered a coupon deal, so I decided to give it a shot. The exterior of the business looks cheap and sketchy, but looks are deceiving. The interior is warm and modern, the staff very polite and professional. I was offered water/coffee/soda by their friendly and knowledgeable secretary, Maria, and they have a nice waiting area with a high-quality flat-screen TV where several of us customers were waiting. All services were posted with prices and the business offers a 2 year guarantee on all work, which is backed by a network of providers across the country. I called early in the morning and was told by Maria that they could provide the service for my car. I drove in and my car was taken in within 10 mins; in another 15 mins, I was quoted on all services that I would need, and I gave them the go-ahead. Maria had me download their app from the Play store, and it included coupons for different services, plus a long list of the services they do provide (which is more than what Yelp has posted)...they are a comprehensive automotive shop. Within about 2.5 hours, the front-end brakes, wheel alignment and safety inspection were completed. The cost was less than I expected and all staff were polite and professional. Really surprised! I was sent here for my state inspection by the guy at Extasy Window Tinting. It looked like a hole in the wall place from the outside, but when I walked in, the waiting room was nice! They had drinks and seating. I was greeted by the receptionist who was very friendly. They had me in and out in 10 minutes! I also was surprised when I went to the bathroom (expecting a run of the mill gross bathroom on the side of a building) and they actually had pretty tile flooring and walls and a plant, everything was very clean! They also offer 10% military discount on services. I will likely come back! read more

This place is terrible. I took my car there and they replaced the transmission. That was ok, I guess. They fixed the air conditioning system then it started overheating. I have the upper half of the engine rebuilt, and it has a new radiator. When I start the car and go on my way home the speedometer is no longer working. Then when taking it home the tranny starts slipping a little on the way home as the car is overheating and dies one time. I get the car started, without the ac on, and go home. I tell them my speedometer is not working now after the work they did. They told me to bring it in and they will see what is wrong. I brought it in and left it so they can fix it because it must have been damaged when they were working on the car. The mechanic told his supervisor that it was not working when I brought the car in the 1st time and that is a big lie. They were trying to charge me $195.19 to fix it. I told them no way. I don't mind paying for the part but there is no way I will pay for labor also on something that they did. They said they would fix it for free. I told them no way I will pay for the part. They said OK. I picked up the car paid for the part and the speedometer stopped working about a mile down the road. DO NOT TRUST THIS PLACE. IN WHAT PLANET IS IT OK TO CHARGE PEOPLE TO FIX SOMETHING THAT WAS BROKEN BY THE MECANIC. I will never go back to this place ever, ever, ever again because this place will intentionally damage your car to get more money out of you. P.S. After reading the reviews from people I decided to take my Jeep to them for an oil change and Inspection. So far great customer service and I was surprised to hear that first time customers get a free oil change, that's pretty awesome. I used to go to Master Lube near my house but I didn't like the service especially after an inspection tech told me that my aftermarket headlights weren't legal. Okay, this was my first time at Jay's and I dropped $600 on a brake booster, oil change and my state inspection, so I'm feeling pretty deflated right now (literally). However, I'm told that this was a fair price for these services, so that's a positive. Another positive is that even tho the shop looked extremely busy, and they told me it might be a couple of days before they could look at it, I received a call that evening telling me that they could have it fixed the following morning. Now I'm not an idiot and I know that life is about making a profit, but the third positive is that I left Jay's feeling like they cared about me coming back. I will definitely be a return customer. Be Careful, They used to be awesome, now they starting to decline. Took in my Honda Van, for a Powering Steering pump repair. I checked under the hood, was missing Engine Cover. Had to go back in and get it from them. The Mechanic put it on, was unhappy, seemed over worked. Took in my Honda CRV for coolant, thermostat and hoses. Seemed okay, all hoses replaced, new coolant, etc. A day later was leaking, got under the hood, found that the clamps were barely tightened for the heater hoses. So far they do the work they say they do, but starting to get sloppy. Last but not least, So be aware they are somewhat expensive, but so far they have done what they have promised. Just Double Check your vehicle when you leave. Update: They contacted me to followup. They were very polite and apologized for my inconvenience. read more

Took my truck thee for collision repairs and they did a poor job. My paint started to chip off months afterwards and they got upset that I complained about it. Bunch of scams and poor management. Owner threatened to hit me with a metal rod because I kept complaining that did they something wrong to my electrical wiring for my doors and windows. Don't ever take a motorcycle there also...they do not know how to repair motorcycles. They couldn't even put mine together correct. read more

I can't believe the first review on here - he said he was in and out in 10 minutes, was served a cold beverage, and the place was busy, and he only gave them 3 stars??? Come ON, fellow Yelper - give these guys the credit they deserve!!! My sister and I were driving through town on our way from Tupelo to San Diego, when her car started making an awful screeching noise. I pulled over, called two places that couldn't get us in before they closed (the screeching started late in the afternoon at 4:30pm, mind you), and then thankfully called and spoke with Johnny at Jay's Automotive II. At first he said they could take a look, but that he didn't think he could get anything done until the next morning... as it was almost 5:00pm, we needed a tow, and he was still a 20 minute drive from where we were. I explained we needed to be in Tucson that evening, and he walked me through some steps to try and remedy the screeching on my own. When that didn't work, I called him back and he said he would take care of us. Johnny sent his tow truck guy, who was there in 20 minutes to get us. He picked us up by 5:30pm, and had us to the shop just before 6:00pm. We got to the shop, were offered cold beverages (at no charge!), and relaxed with a glass of wine as they started to work on the car. Within 30 minutes, they had found the problem (rocks wedged between the brake pads/rotors on both front tires), and we were out of there by 6:30pm and on the road. Did I mention they were super friendly, courteous, and empathetic to our situation. ALSO, very reasonably priced. Just like other posts mention, this place looks sketchy when you pull up, but it's very nice inside. They were so friendly! Since my vehicle needed a diagnosis, they suggested to have someone else go to pick me up. My car has a number of issues, but they fixed the big one today and provided a list of recommendations and prices for the other problems. To my surprise they also offered military discount. Fantastic!!! I was traveling across the country when my AC stopped blowing cold air. This literally happened 10 minutes outside of El Paso. I showed up with out an appointment and even though it was obvious they were busy, they got me in immediately and on my way again in 30 minutes at an extremely reasonable price. I was fully expecting to be turned away, but that wasn't the case. Everyone I had contact with was extremely friendly and I would definitely recommend having car issues taken care of here.
