The service and quality have greatly diminished in the past year or so. The "Spring Greens" is iceberg and they have the nerve to charge the same as they did when they actually used Spring Greens. I went to The Herschel's Restaurant tonight in the drive thru and sat for about two minutes and no one came the speaker. No sign saying it's out of order, so I drove to the windows and the young girl pretending like it didn't work then said oh yes it's working! I preceded with my order. Once completed she looked out to the front like she going to tell me to pull around for her to bring out my order. "Mind you the front parking wasn't full", No she tells me to pull to the back door and she will bring my order out to me! I felt a certain type of way! It didn't feel right. Another solid choice on 'restaurant row' in Mt Pleasant! Order at the counter when you enter, while reading from the big overhead menu. Fix your own drinks, then wait at a table until they bring your food. It won't take long, and the food is worth the wait anyway. My wife loved her smothered steak, and I loved my Double-Bacon BLT Sandwich! Would've gone 5-stars if it had included a tiny bit more bacon! Great flavor, though! Good food and great service. This is a dine in fast food restaurant. They had just general items on the menu, my husband had the burger and I had the steak fingers and gravy. The steak fingers were no different than the one you get at Dairy Queen which I am not a fan of. Disappointed but had no real Expectations so it was all good. This has to be the most overpriced hamburger and tots I have ever bought in my life. Kid u not I got about 12 tots for 2.99 and the burger well it's nothing to write home about. With Whataburger and brains down the street I would highly recommend either of those of this place. read more

This was a welcome place to pull off the highway to eat, and worth the 4+mile offshoot. Great menu and awesome salads. We had the chicken mimi that was pounded thin and grilled to perfection. It was covered with veggies. We had the harvest salad with grilled chicken. We also ordered a scoop of chicken salad to have a little extra protein. The salad was really exceptional as was the dressing. It had so many wonderful things in the combination and worked well for a keto diet. The scoop of chicken salad was a pleasant surprise since it had a smidgen of dill in it. Really good chicken sakad. Thier tea was brewed fresh and tasted like they filtered the water. Hubby and I went here for lunch. He had the chopped steak with mashed potatoes and okra. I had the turkey, bacon, and Avacado sandwich. We both had chocolate shakes. The chopped steak was so overcooked that I've seen charcoal briquettes lighter in color. The potatoes were slightly runny but he said the okra was ok. My sandwich had so little avacado on it, I don't know why it was listed. The chocolate shakes had so little chocolate that they tasted like vanilla shakes. We mentioned all of these things to a server who's only comment was "That's how all of our food is fixed.". No offer to get us something else or replace what we had with fresh. So we ate quickly and got out of there. Won't be going back ever. The food was NASTY, the shakes were horrible and the attitude of the server SUCKED. I was expecting gourmet premium chicken like what I would find on a #15 sandwich from McDonald's... The buns? Clearly it tasted store-bought and no considerations in adding the white buns as a second option. Also it seemed a tad overpriced, but it's worse when you don't get what you pay for when you take your first bites on the sandwich. Also, please!!! Pleasantly surprised. On our way home to the DFW area from Hughes Springs and decided to look for a new place to try. So, I yelped and found Herschel's. It was on the way home; so, we decided to give it a try. We didn't expect to love it as much as we did. The staff was super awesome, and the food was soooo good. The hubs and kiddo got burgers and said they were very good. The hubs also tried the onion rings and kept trying to get the kiddo and me to try them because they were so good. And I got the salad sampler with broccoli salad, chicken salad, and garden salad with ranch. My salad sampler was fresh and flavorful. Oh. And you get free ice cream!!! We will be back!!! read more
