I'm a very courteous rider, and whenever someone was walking toward me on the sidewalk, I would simply move into the street, let them pass, and then ease back into a driveway since there is no bike path along Lakeview Drive. On one of those driveway transitions, I encountered an unexpected two-inch saw-cut curb that sat above the street. On a scooter with 9 1/2-inch wheels, the moment my front tire hit that raised edge, it stopped instantly and threw me face-first onto the concrete. The accident split my upper lip open, knocked out my two front teeth, fractured my left cheekbone, and broke my left little finger. Being new to Florida, I had no idea where to turn. While I was in downtown Sebring, I noticed the Burnetti, P.A. office and walked in just before Christmas. There was one staff member working that day, and after listening to what had happened, she told me all of their attorneys were excellent. I told her, "I need one of your best. Because Dylan is based in Lakeland and I'm in Sebring, we met by phone. He spent as much time with me as I needed, carefully explaining my case and answering every question. I've documented everything with photographs, ambulance reports, emergency room records, and ongoing medical treatment, and Alex has always made herself available whenever I've had questions or needed guidance.
