This afternoon at 2PM my mom Claire had her third stem cell therapy treatment from Hersh Medical. The procedure was conducted at Douglas Murray, DC (a clinic for chiropractors, acupuncture, and Massage therapy). It began with the doctor taking x-rays of Claire's Wrists. I intend to have x-rays taken again 9 to 12 months from now to compare and post them. After examining the x-rays and explaining what the doctors (Neil Hersh and Steven Dundas) saw on them they listened to Claire (my mom) and answered her questions. During this time they explained to her what amount of stem cells cc's (cubic centimeter or cm3) they recommended. They said that they could not tell how where she would need injections and of how many cc's would be enough to make a difference in her levels of pain and recovery. Based on the x-rays and my mom's description of her pain level (she has arthritis) they prescribed 2 cc's per wrist (4 total). My mom decided that she was going to live at least 10 more years and wanted to enjoy golf and opening jars for the rest of it she wanted the 2 cc's. They will use less if you say so. The procedure was conducted by Dr Neil Hersh. Claire described that doctor as cleaning everything to the point that her hands and everything else was immaculate and disinfected. He ensured everything was super clean. She said, "It was efficient and highly professional. He kept me informed every step of the way. The pain level of the injections was tolerable." After the procedure was done we had to wait at least 15 minutes afterward to insure everything was good. The doctor instructed her to keep her hands up (like shoulder level and criss crossed over her head) during that 15 minute wait time. It had something to do with preventing her hands from swelling. Along with the standard instructions to drink 64 ounces of water, no strenuous use of her hands, no caffeine, and eat health, one new requirement was to get a splint for her hands (it would apply pressure to them without being too tight). I drove her to walmart where we bought the splints for her hands and took her home for a nice dinner. I had to do the cooking for her this time (ha ha). She describes that her hands feel fine now (7 pm) and that there is no pain whatsoever. The only downside so far is that mom is supposed to lay off golf for 6 weeks. In a week she might get to practice putting but she is not supposed to strain her hands. You know how you've been told that some things are too good to be true? I was hoping that would not be the case for Amniotic Stem Cell treatment. I've been active in sports my entire life, and had arthroscopic surgery on my right knee 30 years ago, and then again 10 years later. Arthritis in my knees was causing me a great deal of pain. On some days I could barely walk and I was tempted to ask my doctor for a handicapped placard. When things got bad enough, my doctor would give me a cortisone shot which would stop the pain for a while. Trouble is, there are a lot of dangerous side effects from cortisone and I knew it wasn't a permanent fix. The Doctor even said, eventually I would need a knee replacement. I didn't want to go there. In searching alternative treatments for answers to my problem I found a seminar on stem cells. I had been using supplements for decades to help with my knees, but as my knees got worse, I needed something more. The stem cell seminar was very educational and well worth attending. They showed before and after x-rays of knees that received the stem cell treatment. Not only did they regain cartilage, the bone spurs had been eliminated. Knee and hip replacements are only good for 10 years. Considering the major invasive surgery needed for replacements verses the injection of stem cells with a needle, I would rather try the less invasive method first. Insurance doesn't cover the cost for a stem cell injection, but they will cover knee or hip replacements for tens of thousands more. There have been zero adverse reactions to stem cell, whereas there have been deaths from knee and hip replacements. I spoke with a man late last year who had to have his hip replacement redone because it was wearing out. This time he had life threatening complications and almost didn't survive. I went in for an evaluation. They determined that I was a good candidate and we went ahead with the stem cell injection in both of my knees. I am glad I did both because it gave me a comparison. My bad knee swelled, but my other knee was fine. This was not an unusual reaction so I wasn't overly concerned, just uncomfortable. I went on to work after my injection, cooked dinner that evening and retired early to bed to stay off my legs. I got up three times that night. The first time my bad knee was very stiff and sore, the second time it was still sore, but not quite as bad. The third time I could tell a lot of improvement. After researching stem cell therapy I opted for stem cells injections into my knees rather than knee replacement. I have had bad knees for at least 12 years and one operation on my right knee and one procedure on my left knee. The injections were no problem for me and it was done in the office. It really took about three months before I noticed any difference in how my knees felt. I went back into the gym and started rebuilding my legs. The injections help get my back into the gym but I had to do the work and I had little to no pain. I have arthritis in both knees so I feel some pain from that but I am able to golf now without pain. I had the procedure on June 4th for arthritis in my knee. I was hopeful, my husband was skeptical. But, I must say that after 6 weeks I have no pain in my knee at all. I can get down on my hands and knees to garden, I can walk up and down stairs with no pain, I can stand, march and bicycle with no pain. I have not tried running yet. I am very happy so far and when I get new xrays this fall I will know if cartilage has grown back and I will report back at that time. With that being said, the relief from pain for several weeks has been wonderful. The process was very easy and the recovery was even easier. I had the shot and after 15 minutes of rest time I was done and walked out of the office. The pain relief was immediate. I was told that this was because the fluid from the injection was cushioning my bones, not that the stem cells were working yet. So , I went to their presentation and left halfway through. It was a scare about all the other ways that have been used up until now. All of it was true, but why spend a hour working to scare the crowd. Present your product and let it speak for itself. In my book I would look to another medical group to have this done. One that does not need to hard sell the crowd. read more

My 91 year old mother and I met with Dr. Hersch, Josh (office manager/intake), Dr. Dundas, and Darren today in San Francisco, after a friend and I attended a talk by Leigh Dundas in Palo Alto yesterday. We ended up receiving amniotic stem cell treatments for my hip/thigh pain, and Mom's lower back. The staff was great, and very professional, even as they handled a "3-ring circus" of intake, doctor consult and exam, treatments, and post-treatment patients. Although overall, we were there about 4&1/2 hrs, we were checked on frequently by the staff and kept very informed of what was going on. Treatment was performed with cleanliness and care, and a minimum of discomfort. We left with great directions on actions to take to promote the best possible outcomes, and assurance of follow-up calls from the staff to continue to monitor our progress. Mom and I were impressed, and very hopeful of good results to come. I'm feeling some soreness in the injection sites this evening, but understand that that is to be expected. Positive results would certainly make this a much more desirable option than the hip replacement procedure (with greater risk and cost) a doc had previously told me I'd eventually need! I will try to post progress updates, as Brett's post was great to read (though I'd love to get an update on that too!) 2 months later... (5/12/17) It's been a bit hard to tell if my hip/leg pain is improved as I quit taking Advil/Aleve, so feel my symptoms much more. Some days putting weight on my left leg causes a lot of pain, causing me to heavily favor that leg. An occasional Tylenol helps. I'm trying to exercise more (mostly yoga currently), and that seems to help. Joshua has recommended 20 min of heating pad, MSN, Vit C, and glucosamine, in addition to my normal vitamins to help. I'm still hopeful I will get some benefit from this treatment. Regular follow-up calls have shown that this clinic cares about results. My Mom also says she hasn't noticed any real improvement in her back. She is mobile, but doesn't exercise, which could be part of this. We are both hopeful that the next 6 months will result in noticeable improvements and wish we had better news to report. read more

I strongly support stem cell therapy, however I would run as fast as you can from this group. It starts with a high pressure sell with a bunch of promises they appear to have no intention of keeping. Nevertheless my pain was intense and I was open to trusting them. It was followed by injections in my neck that were so painful I was screaming and crying halfway thru. I found out that the "doctor" was only a PA and had given the injections without anything to numb them. Despite the fact that he had been advised that I take about twice as long for numbing agents to work. He decided that just torturing me was the thing to do rather than take a few minutes to numb my neck. Now my arm appears to have some nerve damage as he may have damaged a nerve. Dr. Hersh advised that he would personally see me if the injections did not work and for my pain would give me a free injection. I've tired to get an appointment to follow up, but his scheduler isn't allowing it. Injections that bordered on assault, promises that sound great, but are not fulfilled. Now, out almost 10 thousand dollars, in more pain than I started with and have to start all over. read more

I was in extreme pain suffering from Spinal Stenosis and Spondylolesthesis and still am and at the time I went to their "makeshift office in Ventura", the owner's wife told me that the stem cell would help take my pain away and asked me if I had CareCredit and I said, "yes" and so she took my CareCredit card into another room and learned how much credit I have available on my card and charged my CareCredit account with even more than what was available in credit and had me sign papers knowing this treatment would not relieve me of my pain and without looking at my Medical Records and X-rays of which I provided, saying to me that they could not open on their computer and it would not be necessary for them to see to treat me. At the time, I thought that didn't sound right, however, I was in extreme pain and crying at the time and disoriented, definitely not thinking clearly - just very desperate to get relief from pain. I learned shortly, thereafter, that she even over-charged my CareCredit account and Dr. Oz had a show telling the public to "beware of all these Stem Cell Treatment Centers popping up all over the country taking advantage of desperate people in pain and charging them thousands of dollars to where the consumer is borrowing thousands of dollars to pay for this stem cell treatment and that it is a SCAM!" I'm still in severe back pain and anyone considering Stem Cell treatment on their BACK suffering from Spinal Stenosis and Spondylolesthesis, I'm here to tell you 4 months later, it does not relieve your pain!!! I've filed a complaint/dispute with CareCredit and am requesting a FULL REFUND. If I don't receive a FULL REFUND I will take further legal action and file a complaint with appropriate authorities. It's truly evil that Hersh Medical takes advantage of people like myself who suffer from spinal stenosis and spondylolesthesis, a degenerative disease. read more
