This place is a hidden gem. My family and I come here every time we are in Toccoa, GA for work. The service is always friendly and warm, and they are always very accommodating. Not a lot of options when it comes to GF or vegan needs, but that's not a problem for my family. The shop is smaller and everything is eaten togo due to the limited seating, yet the options are vast. My favorites include the blueberry donut and Apple fritter, yet close seconds are the jelly donut and sour cream donut. Love visiting this place and can't recommend more! read more

We always enjoy getting up early and heading to Hershbergers on Saturday mornings! They have a good variety of Donuts! My favorite is the Blueberry Cake, the Apple Fritters are great also! This is a countryside low-key place. Super friendly service , quick a lot of food for the money and it was delicious. They could maybe do something about the bathroom that didn't look exactly super clean and it wouldn't take a whole lot in my opinion because it's very small and gender neutral so that's kind of a thing I would recommend they would take a look at. read more

Last week I was headed to Lakeside resort in Seneca, SC to work on my next publication. I noticed a bakery right off the first exit over the state line. It was not until I went inside and saw some of the best pastries I had ever seen. It was a small, warm, and friendly environment. My favorite was the lemon filled donut. They are so hard to find these days. Not only was it huge in size, it was ginormous in flavor! I had to go back inside and thank one of the owners face to face as they would be closed on my way back home. I took small bites as to make it last forever. lol Keep up the great baking guys. The first sign of a good bakery is amazing smells coming from the kitchen. Freshly baked is your first thought upon entering the door. The customer service was friendly and welcoming. We arrived around 9AM on a Wednesday morning and you could tell you weren't first in line of the day but the selection was very good. We selected a couple of donuts, apple fritter and a pecan turnover, a loaf of cheddar cheese bread and a tray of assorted cookies (peanut butter, chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin). The prices are very good. ($6/dz cookies $4/loaf bread) The donuts are excellent. I haven't tried other items yet but have no doubt they are delicious. This is definitely a must stop if you are in the area. Keeping small business in business especially during the pandemic is to all of our advantages. Stopped in for some breakfast items to bring back to the camper at Hartwell state park. As soon as I walked in& smelled the smell of fresh baked goods, I was hooked! Picked up a dozen assorted doughnuts & pastry along with the best sausage, egg, & cheese biscuit that I've had in a long time. It was a great experience & a tasty one too. The sandwiches were good, but the cookies were awful. They looked like hockey pucks! I understand the need to use frozen pre-made cookie dough, but come on!! Oatmeal raisin; where were the raisins? Chocolate chip: no even slightly melted chips. All the same shape and size. No browning of the dough at all. We threw ours out. Whoever you are buying the pre-made frozen dough from is not worth it. If you travel I-85 between Greenville, SC and Atlanta, GA, you must put this on your list of places to stop. Less than 5 minutes of the interstate in Fair Play, SC. We just had doughnuts this time, but you will hardly find any better than these anywhere else. Great bakery... It's got a high standard to uphold. Years ago it was Dutch Maid, then Kauffmans... both super. Dutch Maid was stellar. I just picked up a chicken salad sandwich and it's worthy of four stars. It's huge to start with. I would be ashamed to have made this for myself. It's on a super soft fresh bun. Close to a half pound of chicken. The salad is flavorful and is mostly chicken. My only complaint, the former owners would carefully select only the best white chicken hand cut into large chunks. Now we see a slight drop in quality of meat. Nothing serious, and honestly it still is better quality than 99% of the salad you will consume. Their pastry is superb. We order ahead to make certain that they have enough of what we want. Usually it's a big order too. Enough for 10 big eaters for a few days. (Guests at our Lakehouse) Their cinnamon twists are worth fighting over. They do sandwiches for lunch. And I understand they have a breakfast also. Worth going back. read more

I was very disappointed in the customer service. The hours of operation say they closed at 3:00. I walked in at 2:46 to pick up some random dessert items for a party and when I walked in the lady working said "I'm closed, sorry!" We discovered this wonderful little bakery on our way to our lake house. Our schedule never worked with their business hours, but after reading the reviews we made a special trip during hours to check it out. The donuts are amazing. They go quickly on Saturdays so hit before 11 for a full selection. The donut itself is so fresh and amazing, the toppings take it to another level. The peanut butter and chocolate chips donut was so creamy, not overpowering with peanut flavor, just a good balance of salty and sweet (chocolate chips). We decided to preorder a pound cake and sheet of sticky buns for the following weekend since family would be visiting...AMAZING! We haven't tried any of the other menu items besides the sweets. We will return for lunch as I'm sure we won't be disappointed. This place is a must, not too far off exit 2 so if heading North on 85, well worth a short detour. read more

Hershbergers Bakery will blow your mind! We have been going to Kaufman's bakery for the past few years every time we travel to our lake house in Townville from Atlanta. We timed our travel to make sure we'd pass when they were open. The husband and wife team that has taken over the bakery has not only managed to meet the great expectations we had from the previous owners but exceed them. The donuts are awesome! From the traditional apple fritter and glazed to the totally unique Carmel donut they are all over the top delicious. We will drive the hour and a half from Atlanta year around to get our special occasion cakes too because no one makes them better. Do yourself a favor and check this little place that's off the beaten path out. It's worth going a few miles off 85 anytime you are near.
