We brought our truck in for a new a battery, and an oil change, and general inspection for some issues we had. After paying $1200 for these services, the next time we tried to start the truck, the battery was dead. Turns out they never replaced the battery. We took it back and they did. Then a month later the oil light came on. We brought it to another mechanic who told us there was no oil in the truck, and the oil filter had not been replaced. They also never fixed the other minor issues we asked them to look at. When we went back to complain, they were very indignant, and only begrudgingly refunded part of our money. My advice is to avoid this place at all costs. They messed up our friends car when we went in for an oil change and inspection. They have terrible quality control. read more

I requested a quote for a variety of regular maintenance inquiries. Some of the items were a wonderful price; others were much more than other locations. Overall, the staff and facility seem to be really nice. I just wish auto shops in general could be a bit more transparent and consistent with their pricing. These guys diagnosed and fixed an issue with my car that the dealership was trying to make me replace the engine over. They even worked with me on close distance pickups and dropoffs as to not burden my friend who was giving me rides too much. Pricing was also fair from what the Blue Book pricing tells me. I arrived promptly at 7:30 (their opening time) and was the first customer there. Hoping to get new tires put on my car in a timely fashion, especially since I was first in line. This turned out NOT to be the case. They serviced multiple people before me, I'm assuming their "buddies" since they were all joking around instead of working. You can hear the mechanics in the shop cussing and yelling at each other...NOT professional, especially early in the morning. Finally I was asked by an associate if they had gotten to me yet...I explained that they had not and I was the first customer here at 7:30. ONLY THEN WAS MY CAR TAKEN IN!!! OVER AN HOUR AFTER I GOT THERE AND MULTIPLE PEOPLE WERE SERVED BEFORE ME. In total, it took over two hours. Ridiculous!!! Had they followed proper customer service, I would have been in and out in a timely manner. If no stars was an option, Hershey Tire would certainly receive it. read more

I will never recommend Hershey Tire and Auto Repair in Staunton, VA to anyone! I brought my Jeep Liberty in for a simply tire alignment. I had to make an appointment a week in advance. I brought my Jeep in 15 mins early. My appointment was at 12pm. The lady at the front desk informed me that they would give me a call when it was complete. So I went back to work and waited for a phone call. At 2:17pm I still had not received a phone call, so I called in and spoke with the woman at the front desk who was extremely rude and told me twice that they will call me when they finish and they were backed up and just got to my vehicle. So I said ok and waited for another hour. Mind you, when I scheduled this appointment they told me that it would take maybe an hour to be done. So at 3:08 I left work and called them again to check on the status of my vehicle that has been with them for over 3 hours. I waited on hold for a manager for over 8 mins. The manager, Chris, answered the phone and all I had to do was give him my first and last name (didn't even mention which vehicle I had) and he immediately stopped me and said "Oh, I'm sorry ma'am. No one has called you yet?" I told him no and he goes on to tell me that my vehicle was done when I called the first time at 2:17, they had just backed it out of the garage when I called. So I explained to him that I was already half way home and I had to pick my children up and would be back in the morning to pick my vehicle up. Well the following morning I came in to pick my vehicle up so I could go to work and I tried to start it and my battery was dead. So I walked back in and had to have them jump my vehicle, making me an extra 15 mins late to work. And the man who jump started my vehicle said to let it run for about 20 mins and it should charge the battery back up. So I left and went to work. Well that was not the case. They killed my battery. Nothing was wrong with my vehicle or battery before I brought it in. All it needed was a wheel alignment. I called again today and spoke with the same manager, Chris, and explained that my battery was dead and he tried to make me feel incompetent by saying, "Well something must be wrong with your alternator." and asked if I could bring it in for him to look at. So I had my husband bring my Jeep back in, after once again having to jump start it. My husband waited in the office for over 45 mins for Chris to come out and look at the Jeep. While he was in there he noticed an elderly lady sitting next to him that needed an inspection on her vehicle. The mechanic came out and told the lady that they couldn't pass her vehicle because her ball joints were a little loose and she had the wrong head light bulbs in her vehicle. My husband found that very suspicious and tried to tell the lady to take her vehicle somewhere else. The lady at the desk asked him to wait outside for the manager. So he went outside and waited for Chris to come out. Chris finally came out and told my husband that it was not the alternator. But he could put my battery on charge for an hour and see if that fixes it. My husband had already been waiting for almost an hour on him to come out so he said he has a charger at home and he can charge it there. They do not want to right their wrong and I will never be a customer of theirs again. If anyone needs any work done on their vehicle I highly recommend going to Mack's Service in Churchville. It is about 15 mins from Hershey but they are wonderful in there and do not rip you off. (540)337-6515. read more

Eh, I am torn over what to say about Hershey. I have gone to them several times and have been pleased with the customer service and the price. This includes oil changes and tire rotations. I have also have purchased several tires from them. And in the past they have won my trust and business by proving their honesty by telling me my car doesn't need a certain service or repair when I thought it did. That said, I have lost trust in Hersheys because they told me recently my car needed pads and rotors for all four tires, a $550 job. This confused me because I had the front brakes+rotors changed 14 months earlier. Also, an odd coincidence bec they sold 4 pads and rotors to a family member a few month earlier. At that time, I didnt even doubt Hershey's integrity. This time, I went for a second opinion, and was told the front brakes were fine. The rears needed pads but not rotors. I had that work done at the second shop. Just goes to show, you can't let your guard down anywhere. Everyone is out to make a quick buck, even the "good guys." read more

These folks saved us! Our family, along with some friends in another car, were forced off the road by a big rig and both cars got flat tires. We found Hershey Tire Company by chance and by some miracle they had our rare tires in stock at their warehouse. They were delivered within 10 mins and they were done changing them in 30. Our friends car needed a tow so they recommended a local service but couldn't get to the shop until after closing time. They stayed around late to help us with the second set of tires. And, on top of all of that, they were so sweet to us! They popped some popcorn for us and gave my kids some cookies to keep us entertained! Thank you! read more

I bought my tires here because of their stellar reputation, but live a significant ways away (70 miles). When I came in on a Saturday to get my tires rotated, they told me they were short on staff that day and were closing shortly. I told them I'd traveled a great distance, and the lady behind the desk graciously agreed to find a way to fit me in that day. I have to say, absolutely amazing service. We were traveling home to Florida from DC and had some tire issues, we ended up in Staunton for the night. The next morning (Saturday) we stoped in at Hershey's to get some tires.....from the beginning the customer service was amazing, the lady at the front counter gave us some excellent prices and was very friendly. I used to be a customer at Hershey but never again. In the beginning they treated me great but as time went on more and more problems came up with my vehicle. I took my vehicle to other mechanics for 2nd options. I was told by them that someone had modify my vehicle and their are parts missing. Also when I was a customer they would tell me I needed fluids flushed and new windshield wipers right after they had changed them. I would never recommend anyone to them. !!!WARNING: DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! There are so many things wrong with this business I don't know where to begin. I went to Hershey Tire a few years ago to get an inspection but when I pulled up into the parking lot an employee came out side and screamed at me for parking in the wrong spot, even though there was no sign and only about ten parking spaces which were occupied. When I went in to tell the manager they told me that's just the way he is and I should move my car. That wasn't the first time I had trouble with them, they had done other work before which was very expensive and didn't seem fix the problems I had with my car so I found another mechanic. But my 60 year old father's car broke down and he found them in the phone book. He called Hershey Tire and the people in the office were extremely rude and unprofessional my father only called to set an appointment to fix his car, after trying to explain what was wrong with the car several times, the woman at the front desk told him to shut up and let her explain what was wrong, When I showed up there to get an explanation for the way she had talked to my father, An older gentleman standing in the garage stopped my and told me I needed to go inside and apologies to the woman. needless to say I turned around and left and went to another mechanic. I do not recommend this company. They are very rude,expensive, and unprofessional. For your own sake and wallet find another mechanic. read more

In a word: DISHONEST!!!! I came in to have 2 tires installed, and have a wheel alignment done. I was very upfront that I did not want my rims damaged at all and for them to be extra careful. They said ok and told me to come back in 1.5 hours. 3 hours later they finally finished with my car. They had scratched up all 4 of my wheels while doing an alignment on my car, and then when I pointed it out to them, they tried to tell me that it was that way when I came in. Really! 4 perfect circular scratches the exact same size and in the exact same place on all 4 of my wheels. Now I am a car guy, not a day goes by that I do not check my wheels, tires and body looking for damage. I am one of those guys who parks at the far end of the parking lot just so no one will park next to me and ding my door. It drives my wife crazy, because I notice every little thing. As usual I had checked my car that morning, and drove it on the freeway all the way there. There is no way that the damage could have come from anything on the freeway between my house and there shop, especially not to all 4 rims identically. Just to be clear, we are not talking about curbing on the rims, this is actually closer to the lug nuts. Ironically he had not even seen the wheels before he started denying and making excuses, and as I have read in other reviews, they were very unprofessional and abrasive threw the hole process, even before they had screwed up my wheels. I will never go back to Hershey Tire Company. There are hundreds of mechanics out there who can install tires and do alignments, but you can't fix a dishonest person/business. It is only a matter of opportunity before they screw you. I never even asked for them to fix my rims, or pay me for them. Honestly, if they would have just apologized or even been willing to consider that the damage could have come from them, I would have dropped it and probably not taken the time to write this review, but after seeing the blatant dishonesty and unprofessional attitude exhibited there, I had to write a review to hopefully help others not have to go through the same experience. read more
