TERRIBLE SERVICE EXPERIENCE! I was told by a reputable auto service center that I needed a primary control module updated or replaced and had to go to the dealer because only the dealer could program a PCM. The reputable car repair shop diagnosed the issue and explained the solution. I provided Hertrich the diagnostic paperwork with the codes, the Dodge Ram service bulletin that described the problem and how to diagnose it and the technicians notes with the corresponding voltage readings. Service manager looked at everything and told me not to leave it because he didn't want to "lead" his technician toward a particular problem. He also said in his experience, it was the oil pump. I told him I wasn't paying for another diagnostic if it was the PCM because I already paid for that once and if it were something else then okay. It was the PCM exactly as I had been told by the reputable service center. When I picked up the truck, I asked why I was being charged $200 for another diagnostic when I had provided the diagnostic report, the service bulletin and the voltage readings confirming the PCM as the problem. He said, "W don't accept outside diagnostics." He refused to deduct the $200 diagnostic which consists of hooking up a computer to a plug and waiting 90 seconds for the reading. I had stopped servicing my truck there several years ago but had no choice since they are the only Ram dealer in town. DO NOT BUY OR SERVICE HERE! read more

Let's face it no one enjoys the process of buying a car, or at least not typically. I decided to change vehicles to a new to me one that Hertrich had at their dealership. The process could not have been more straightforward, from initial contact through getting my new keys, etc. Every step of the way, the communication was clear, concise, and without "gotcha" words. Everything was simply clean and done with smiles on both sides. Financing was actually impressive as I was told that the rate I had been quoted from my initial financial group was going to be .75 higher than what they were able to find for me. Winning!! The car was detailed perfectly, so much so I questioned if it had ever been used. The salesperson (Luke) was very friendly and professional at every step of the process. We will never do business with Hertrich again - Hertrich broke my jeep and wanted almost $1000 to fix it - here's how:  Dropped off my vehicle last week - they replaced the battery.  Things were still not 100% after picking up my car, so I called the next day and made an appt to bring it in on Monday.  The technician performed a refreshing IPS software - then I was contacted to let me know that it completely wiped out my radio/dashboard and I will need to replace the Instrument Cluster for approx $872 because - I was 185 miles over my warranty. They stated multiple times that they performed the test to "Chrysler standards".  They said once the cluster is ordered, I could not drive my Jeep and would need to leave it there until it was fixed - and that Clusters take approx 2 weeks to be delivered. I drove my Jeep home from the dealer, the radio was working fine but I did not have anything on my display, nor did my Speedometer or Tachometer work - how is this safe?? They said this was "normal" and there was nothing they could do until the radio cluster was repaired.  They recommended we go back to the original dealership for service. We then drove out-of-state back to the Jeep dealership where we originally purchased the vehicle and they performed the IPS software refresh again, and found nothing wrong.  The refresh was successful and The Jeep is now fixed.  We did not need to order or replace any parts and the original dealer saved us from spending an unnecessary $872. read more

Only reason for getting 1 star instead of 0 is the salesman I dealt with, these people are a complete joke sold me a truck that " passed inspection" within 2 weeks found out all the tires were dry rotted when I had a tire explode and destory the entire bed side. Had to have all 4 tires replaced called to see if they would make things right and nope I was told to call my insurance Also in this 2 week time period I was suppose to be informed if I would be getting a 2nd key and got no response to that either, when I inquired about that the manager Rob felt it was okay to start cussing at me and didn't think twice about it until I called him out for trying to talk to me any way he felt As a customer you are suppose to be treated with respect this guy Rob had no regard or care for respect, absolutely ridiculous way to do business. CUSTOMER SERVICE IS STRAIGHT ASS!!! Tried to charge me a diagnostic fee for the same problem I TOLD THEM I was having. Bad service: Dropped off my 8 passenger van, that was purchased at this location, for service and they kept my vehicle there a month and a half but would only pay for a small rental car that did not fit my family. When asked why we were not given a comparable rental vehicle we were basically told take it or leave it.. Totally unprofessional shop and the service we had done on our van was done poorly. I was working out of town and decided to spend my money in the community I was staying in while staying in Elkton, MD and working in Delaware state. Hertrich Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram was the dealership I chose to do so at. Working a 12hr nightshift 7 days/wk was the first battle(and what I thought would be my only battle) when considering this purchase. I had bought many vehicles from out of state over the previous 11-12 years, perhaps 18-20 to be close in total purchases with several being out of state. Never before had I experienced the lack of customer service and transparency as I did when dealing with Hertrich. Multiple purchase orders drawn up all having different numbers in them, and none of the math being correct in that it added up differently when computing taxes, trade in allotment, balances owed. They also were phenomenal in stating one thing but yet doing another!! It's been 2 months since we agreed on pricing, and there is still no title delivered for the purchased vehicle. They sold me a truck that had a software update past due and denied that there was an update due on it. Once home, I had to pay a local dodge dealership $165 to have the vehicle checked out and have the update done. I traded 2 vehicles in on the truck I bought, and 1 was a very fair valuation whereas the other was ridiculously low. This left me upside down on a deal I should've been right even on in the end As far as payoffs were concerned and an appropriate balance on the new vehicle. They botched the payoffs on the trade ins as well as the taxes required for the out of state purchase and transfer. I highly recommend steering clear of this dealership as it is hard to say who else all of this has been done to along the way and how many people have just paid whatever they said to pay and not looked at all of the numbers to make sure they match up. I also had to make an additional payment on one of the vehicles traded and so their payoff on it was considerably less than what it was said to be originally before we were 23 days out on a 20 day payoff quote. Again...look at other dealerships and compare pricing...as they admitted their huge markup on this truck to regain after they supposedly lost on its previous trade In. When they talk about "passing the buck on" to the next person...I believe the intent is to save someone money or something valued like experience and knowledge. However, it seems this statement is exponentially opposite when in reference to the aforementioned dealership!! Took my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee to Hertrich of Elkton for repair of a Tramission overheating warning light. Under the supervision of Manager Patrick I was charged the following to correct my transmission overheating : $129.95 for a diagnostic check by Hertrich employee Technician Rich. The repair for the "indicated code" was to replace the a clogged Condensor or cooler. $686.20 to replace cooler/condenser combo. Tech Rich $382.87 to replace the transmission filter and pan gasket Tech Rich. $1199.02 Total Repair cost These repairs DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. In less then 10 miles the warning light came right back on with the transmission overheating. I Took the Jeep back to Hertrich on the following Monday. The new estimate to fix the problem according to employee Perry. $35.00 Adapter plug $45.00 Fluid $50.00 transmission pan gasket $565.00 transmission valve body $259.90 Labor $954.90 Total estimate I declined this estimate and instead took my Jeep to a local service center where the problem was fixed for : $290.31 Parts and labor. I seriously think the Jeep dealership discriminated against me since I was a women and charged me for unnecessary parts and labor. They misrepresented the actual problem and lied about a code during the diagnostic check. Originally they fixed the Jeep according to the code then retracted that statement saying they were guessing since the diagnostic never presented a code. Finally, they WOULD NOT HONOR THE CUSTOMARY 25% DISCOUNT TO CHRYSLER RETIREES! I would have given a negative star if available. read more

I purchased a used vehicle and within a few days it had engine problems. I had problems throughout the entire process of buying a vehicle from them. The service department did not want to honor the warranty that came with the vehicle. Then a week after warranty ended the transmission needed a complete rebuild. The experience and service I received from Justin Ramirez, sales, and Nick Tsalafaos, sales manager, while purchasing my used truck went above and beyond. I dealt with Justin mainly through phone calls and texts negotiating the price before showing up to test drive the truck mainly because they are over an hour away from me. I am not one who enjoys the car buying experience, but these two made me feel really comfortable. Justin did everything and more to make sure I was happy with what I was getting. Had a huge issue with the service department not putting dash back together correctly, twice! However, it was finally fixed right. The Sales Manager, Nick Tsalafaos, called me directly from his own personal cell phone owning the issue and truly apologetic about my experience there shows a lot of respect. He knows that other than a recall here or there that I do all my own maintenance so I'm rarely going to be a customer, but I felt as important as anyone else would feel that is there quite often. Please understand that he hasn't been there long so if you read the bad reviews, that may have been true for their time, he is turning that around. read more

I almost had the same experience Kathy E. had with them. I scheduled my appointment a week ahead of time for a Saturday. I dropped off my car on Friday night with $41 oil change coupon. I received a call at 8am Saturday from Lawrence. He said, they looked at my car and if I wanted to upgrade to the minor service plan which included tire rotation($80). I said, no just the oil change. Then, I didn't hear from anybody until 12:30. It still wasn't done. I came in at 3pm and expected it to be done and still wasn't touched. They close at 4pm, so was I going to miss work on Monday because they had my car. No communication on their part. I took my car and left disgusted. I won't go back there again. I had a bad feeling the last two times I was there because of some shady information from the service tech and service manager. read more

TERRIBLE SERVICE! Took my car in for a recall issue, was told a loaner car would be available for me. After waiting 30 min I was told no loaner cars were available and they couldn't get me a rental car for several hours. I asked if they could take me to work and they said no, the shuttle driver called out sick. So I got back in my own car and left bc I had to get to work. Frustrating to say the least. Before I left, the Service Manager (Dan, Dave?) told me to give him a few days to get a loaner car in and he would personally hold the keys and call me so I didn't have the same issue happen, and the only thing I had to do was promise to give him all 10's on the survey (bc now he's doing me a favor right....NOT!). Nonetheless I agreed bc I wanted to get my car fixed. A few days go by, weeks, a month, still no call. I called this morning to check on the status and personally spoke with Dan/Dave who must have amnesia because he had no recollection of me, my situation, or our conversation. He said the "best" he could do for me is reserve a rental car for me at Enterprise, which is offsite, and have someone from the dealership drive me over when I drop my car off for service. I told him I wasn't comfortable with that arrangement after what happened last time, and I don't mind waiting a few days/weeks to get a loaner car. He told me he has no way of securing a loaner car or knowing when one will be coming in bc they come in and out all the time. So I asked to get on the loaner car schedule. He said there is no schedule. Ummm ok, so I guess people just line up on the curb and whoever hops in the driver set first gets it? Funny bc when I made my FIRST appointment I was told a loaner car would be available for me. Complete BS. I told him I work 10 min away from the dealership and if he called me when the next loaner car was available I would zip right over and he basically said that's not going to happen with no real explanation why. Unreal. Terrible customer service, and I will never do business with Hertrich again. Oh and might I mention I'm a repeat customer who bought a brand new car off one of their lots several years ago? Never again. You lost a loyal customer and it's definitely your loss. read more
