I first went to Newark Toyota in 2023 to have my catalytic converters replaced, after they were stolen. Toyota charged me over $3000 for replacing the two stolen catalytic converters! Then in the spring of 2026 I started to have symptoms indicative of one of the converters failing. I took my vehicle to Toyota and discuss the issue with the service advisor Jason Curley, in early July of 2026. He instantly told me that Toyota only warranties are catalytic converters for one year, which is absurd for a catalytic converter or any emissions related part. He also tried to pass the buck by saying "" that's a Toyota policy "" finally, he scheduled my vehicle for inspection to see if the catalytic converter was in fact, failing I arrived at my appointment and while they were inspecting my vehicle for an hour and a half, I was eventually told that Indeed one of the catalytic converters was failing. I was told that I would be contacted within the next couple days, by Jason Curley after he attempted to contact Toyota to see if they would provide a good faith replacement. I did not hear from Jason Curley for over three weeks! When I finally did, he left a voicemail stating that he contacted Toyota and they weren't gonna do anything about it, because it was out of their warranty. I contacted Toyota corporation who when requesting a review regarding this matter for good faith replacement told me "" we will not do a review because your vehicle is too old "" I would not recommend anyone obtain service through Newark Toyota, in the future, and be aware that Toyota's parts warranties are awful! They also seem unwilling deviate from anything regardless of situation! I will be escalating this matter to further authorities for resolution.. read more

My 2011 Camry has 390,000+ miles on it, and the recommended service and quality of service is consistent with what I received at my previous service center. The service department at Newark Toyota was the worst. Yesterday, I completed my service here. I am undergoing Toyota care service with a valid date and the vehicle has just reached the mileage threshold. In spite of this, they did not accept it. They charged me more money and did not provide complete information about what recommendations have to be made. The person Louis was the worst. He was rude and not prepared to provide customer service. In my opinion, management is also similar. In addition to this, I have given my vehicle for a minor dent. They replaced my bumper and sensors and claimed the amount. My vehicle was kept at their facility for more than a month. I would give a Zero rating and would not recommend anyone to go here. One thing I've noticed is that when trying to avail multiple services, the agents only apply one coupon during billing instead of informing customers upfront. I was informed my wipers needed to be replaced. Even though I know the blades were quite squeaky i don't recall the rubber slipping off the wiper for both the front and reaer wipers. Looks like it was pulled of the blade during inspection. read more

Walk in first to parts parts manager talking to an outside tire salesman refused to break his conversation to assist. Receptionist sent me to service needed a key made and programmed, service advisor was not busy reading his phone. Told me to go get the vin number and mileage!! When a vehicle is coming in the shop it is the service advisors job to check in the vehicle not the customers. I had been bringing my 2019 Toyota Highlander to Newark ToyotaWorld for years until my most recent terrible experience. The consistent lying about needed repairs and uncharging is unbelievable. In July 2024, after charging $180 (that would not be applied to the work) to inspect a sound, I was told that my front left control arm and serpentine belt needed to be replaced and for a wheel alignment to be completed for a total of nearly $1400 - after getting a second opinion, it was discovered that they installed my front left driver side brake pad incorrectly and the clip was rubbing against another part causing a noise. I paid $60 for the repair at another reputable shop. Absolutely despicable to charge me to diagnose the issue that was CAUSED by them when installing my brake pad improperly and then to upcharge me on a bunch of stuff that was not even needed. read more

Ok so I been waiting 4 months for my car ( toyota cross ) to be built and delivered, my sales agent Ajay Bhan, he comes off very nice but in reality he can care less. After 4 months of waiting for the Cross he called and said the car i ordered after 4 months has arrived 05/29/2022. So I get there after spending 5,000 in rental car fees. It took me 10 days just to get an appointment to get a simple oil change. I wasn't even asking for a specific time. When I came in for the appointment, it took over an hour and a half to complete. Only after my vehicle was appraised & I pd deposit did the salesman take me serious. Then I was told I would be contacted monthly to keep me updated on the arrival of the vehicle because it would take 6-9 months, which I already knew so I wasn't surprised. I have been going to Newark Toyota since I bought my first Toyota Scion in 2008. Since then I've bought 2 other Toyotas and have continued to exclusively use Toyota for their services. Their customer service has gradually just gone downhill and last night when I picked up my truck was probably my last straw. My truck was there 2 days and my service manager was going to be off starting day 2 for the following 2 days, OK, no problem. After that, it's like I didn't exist. No one called me to let me know my truck was done. I had to call and no one called back. When I called the general customer service number she was useless, couldn't get ahold of anyone either and couldn't walk downstairs to get anyone. No one knew if they fixed the issue, because the mechanic left too . I am the one who had to point out that my Toyota exclusive battery was only 3 years old and still under warranty. They went from being the only people I'd bring my vehicle to, to hiring a bunch of dudes who only know how to say 'I don't know', 'I'm not sure', 'Call back in 2 days if you still have problems'. To boot, I never got my 20 point inspection paperwork either. I did get a receipt for the $2K I dropped though. read more

I recently purchased a 2017 Chevy cruz, and I certainly must say it's been the worst experience I ever had dealing with a dealership. The sales person Chris Delos he will sell you a lemon car and not bat a eye. I've had the car a total of 2 1/2 months, already the brake pads are finished, the a/c they supposedly fix before purchase only works when it wants to, the check engine light is on alread. I made 3 trips to Newark from Dover (hr drive) to fix the a/c situation. Ive been thru 3 temp tags already waiting for my hard tag (they had a situation with my title I had nothing to do with) I don't even have the patience to list all my problems with their service. If you have to go DO NOT purchase a "certified" used car. Now Im stuck with 2 month old purchase that's in the shop already. Be cautious is my advice to everyone read more

As it pertains to the service department. It's a nice place, there's the 2 stars. As for the service, it's the worst of the Newark area car dealers I've dealt with (Martin, Porter, Newark Jeep). They took over 2.5 hours for an oil change and rotation, despite having an appointment. They did not apply the coupons that they were given, and tried to get my 18 year old to spend another $2400 on air conditioning and fuel system services. They said the car needed brakes and tires, OK I can see that as legit. But also a cabin air filter that I changed 2 months prior? Honest? I'll get a brakes and tires second opinion. Slow service, doesn't honor their coupons, tries to take advantage of a young consumer. Bought the car there (and another), and this is a repeat performance with slow service and "forgetting" coupons. I'm done. read more

My appointment was Friday for my Toyotacare. Frank was my service advisor. I made my appointment online. Service drive was backed up when I arrived. My back tires were perched on the alignment sensor - not sure if it was a good read or not. Appeared to be people in front of me, but valet then Frank walked over to me. Told Frank I could walk back to work - asked about shuttle - Frank kept nodding (??). Looks like they have Uber Service - not offered. I assume they got my VIN from the door or the dash - unsure. Service done in one hour five minute. Came to pick up. Got a receipt - no multi-point, no explanations- just a receipt. Car seems okay upon driving after - only minor things out of place. I'll try again, I'm hopeful. Just too many questions and not enough answers this time. read more

Frank was completely dismissive of my issue and even changed what I said about the complaint on the invoice when the technician said different than what I said. I live with the car, the technician drove the car for minutes. Frank said "service advisors can't test drive cars because we generally have too many things going on" when I asked him if he ever drove the car himself to listen to the rattleS I have been complaining about for six months and fifteen thousand miles. I have opened up a complaint with Toyota Customer Care and they'll, I'm sure, be in contact to let you know how disappointed and disgusted I am with Franks inability to fix my very minor problem but his ability to completely annoy and disrespect me as a human. When the car was complete he came out with the ipad and said "You're all set, he drove it and said the noise is gone I just need your signature" so I signed, he turned around and walked away. Even when making an appointment in advance for minor car maintenance (oil change or tire rotation) there's still a 2-3 hour minimum wait time. Waiting room is clean, large and offers free drinks so that's a small compromise. read more

I called with lots of questions about replacing my key for a 2005 Scion tC, because another Toyota dealer seemed to be charging large sums for what seems to be a simple fix. I spoke with Niles, who was patient and great at explaining terms that I didn't quite understand. He gave me a quote about $200 less than the other dealership (a significant sum less for a key) and warned me about suggestions to reject in order to save costs. I initially had a great experience but less than 60 days after the purchase of the vehicle the dashboard lit up. After speaking with the dealership I brought the vehicle in to the service department. I was informed that a spark plug was cracked causing the engine to misfire, I was charged $180 for the diagnostic, $71 for an oil change, and $77 for coolant. I was also charged for the rear camera diagnostic which I purchased knowing that it was broken (no big deal since I know how to use my mirrors) and that it could not be fixed by Toyota. The rear passenger door didn't open on test drive but I was told by the sales person the child lock was on. After reading the manual something did not seem right. While at the service center the door was taken apart and I was informed the door lock system was broken and would be $455 to fix, if I was going to get it fixed then. I ended up paying $521 upon leaving the service center for nothing to have been resolved. Since then I have not been able to drive the vehicle. And although the car has been started everyday but not driven, the vehicle will no longer start. I have communicated with the dealership in person and over the phone in a professional manner. However, I have not heard a word from Toyota World until today when I had to send an assertive email letter requesting resolution. I have been referred to communicate through my attorney. I would like to have this fixed without legal action but it seems as if they want it. I just wanted my experience to be publicized so that others may not fall victim. read more

Colleen was warm, friendly and personable. She went above and beyond to insure I was informed, properly advised of the needs of my vehicle and comfortable with the recommended service. LeeAnn Nelson I have had 2 cars now with this dealership and 4 service experiences here. Everyone has been BAD, but this last one is unconscionable! I had a leak from my ac unit that created pools of water on the floor of my vehicle. My car smelled like laundry left in the washing machine for 2 weeks. At first they didn't want to give me a loaner car and I had to complain to the manager. They had my car for 3 weeks, with terrible communication from various people in service, telling me a different reason for the leak on 4 different occasions. They then brought in Servpro to clean the interior taking out all of the carpet and sound deadening material(with a fight). They replaced the undercoating and then tried to give me my 6 mo old car back smelling HORRIBLE. I was in the car 20 mins and got a severe headache, red eyes and trouble breathing. We had the car towed back to the dealer. They said that they've done all they can and all that I can do is call Toyota. They are out of it. No support or help from the dealership. I would seriously rethink buying a car or having service done with this group. They claim to care about customer service, but it is non existent. 4 strikes...you're out! read more
