Worst experience with Hertz at their McEwen Road location. Reserved on line. Need something larger than our Jeep Cherokee and that's what we reserved. Confirmed the night before and they confirmed they had a larger Luxury vehicle for us. Went to pick it up and it was smaller than our Jeep Cherokee. Extremely disappointing. Didn't want to put the 2000 plus miles on our low mileage vehicle. Well guess what - we ended up taking our Jeep! Will NEVER use them again nor will I ever recommend them again. This was the WORST car rental experience EVER!!!! It was the Crappiest piece of crap car. I was shocked they would rent such a dinged, dented & scratched car. when we opened the doors every seat was covered in stains. It was just gross! When I asked for a different car they insisted this was the 1 & only car they had. I found that hard to believe. I needed to rent this car while mine was being repaired. The other person responsible for the car accident insurance was covering the cost. Maybe this is the type of car they rent out in that situation. Regardless it was a horrible car & I refused it. I went to Enterprise & was quickly taken care of & drove off in a shiny new 2016 Jeep Liberty. That's how you treat customers. Dont waste your time with Hertz!!!! read more

We were required to use Hertz due to the other parties insurance. We have used enterprise in the past with no problems. I scheduled the rental car a week in advance, the representative confirmed when and where I was to be picked up. I get a call an hour before the scheduled time saying that the pickup area is too far away and that the reservation needed to be switched to the Huber Heights location. I asked if there would be any issues with such a late notice, she assured me that no, it would be fine, but gave me their number in the event that there was. Time came and went, no car. Called Huber heights, they had no record of the reservation. I do not recommend this company. read more

Wish I could give ZERO stars! So here is my experience.... my company scheduled a business trip for me. The reservation was made in advance just go pick up the car and go. Seems simple enough right? Wrong apparently. So I go to the location give my name, guy behind he counter asks for my ID and Credit Card (which I assume is for identification purposes) no charges are discussed and my signature is never asked for. I get the car and leave. A few hours later I check my credit card balance and I have been charged $358! Which again was never discussed/explained/signed for and therefore never authorized. (This also overdrafts my account and now I have bank fees!). So I contact them immediately. Explain to the first guy the situation, get put on hold for close to 10 minutes, another guy picks up the phone has no idea what I am holding for so I explain the situation AGAIN. He (not so friendly) says he can't fix it in less I give him my corporate credit card information to replace my credit card. Of course I don't have this information. So I contact my boss and my boss' boss who then contact our home office who then contacts me then contacts Hertz who are AGAIN none too friendly and make it out to be my fault....because I gave him my credit card when he asked for it......really? Keep in mind they had the corporate credit card information the entire time since it was used and required to make he reservation in the first place. So now there are five people on my behalf trying to get this corrected. Fast forward five days.... I still don't have my money back! I call their 800# for customer care. I'm told that only the store can help me because my Rental Record No. begins with the letter 'L'?? If I feel like the store isn't helping me then I can email customer care and wait for them to email me back but I cannot talk to anyone outside of the store??? What kind of business is ran like this? So I call the Hertz store AGAIN to speak with the manager, Dan. I explain everything AGAIN. He says he heard something about me a few days ago.....past that he knows nothing. So he says he's going to look into it and call me back today. OMG! Fine, ok (what other choice do I have right?!?). We hang up. One minute later he calls me back. Dan, the store manager, proceeds to tell me that he can't do anything for me until I return their car. He says it was due back at 8am this morning (this conversation is taking place at 10:52am) and demands to know when I'm planning to return it. Ummmm.... go check your lot it's been sitting there since 11-11:30pm Saturday night.... It's Monday!! It's been there for two days!?! The employees were awesome however management not so great. I ran into horrible road conditions on my way to Alabama. Needless to say they made the news due to the 8-11inches of snow they received in addition to the road closures. I called to see about dropping the car off in AL and how much the fee would be and I was told that I needed to return the car or pay $650/day for the term of my contract because that vehicle belonged to them. read more

DO NOT RENT FROM HERE. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. We wish we would have. After a car accident (not our fault) our car was at the dealership getting fixed. Our insurance paid for the rental car at Hertz. We had the car for no longer than two weeks, and when my husband went to drop it off they were too busy to drive him back to the dealership, so they said to just drop it off there and someone would pick it up later. He asked them if he needed to sweep the inside of the car out and he was told NO, IT WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM. A few days later we noticed a $50 charge from them. Called and talked to a lady, who supposedly picked up the car. She said it was a cleaning charge because the car was filthy. She also explained that she was doing us a "deal" because the regular cleaning charge was $250 (apparently our car was SO FILTHY they had to SEND IT OUT because their vacuums wouldn't work). When asked what was so dirty, she stated that the floor mats were covered in HAY. We live in the city and have not been near hay in as long as I can remember. My husband is also allergic to hay and suffers from severe asthma--hay would have been a huge threat to be in the car with the air blowing particles in his face. When my husband explained this, she changed her story and said it was pet fur. While yes we do have a couple of cats, they have not needed transported in two months and have had no reason to be in that car. MY CAR is not in the shop, and had we needed to transport them IN CARRIERS they would have been IN MY CAR. My husband asked what color of fur it was, she said it was gray and white. We have two BLACK cats, so explain to me how WHITE pet fur is our responsibility???? She then changed her story AGAIN saying that it actually could be black pet fur. My husband asked for photos and she said she did not have any. My husband asked for the manager who, coincidentally, wouldn't be in until the next day, but apparently he would give us a call. The manager never called us, so my husband called him and finally managed to get a hold of him. He listened to our side of the story, but said he would have to wait until the lady we talked to came in to "get her side." My husband once again asked for pictures of the car, and the MANAGER said, "We will go out and take some pictures." UHHHH what happened to SENDING IT OFF TO BE CLEANED?? How would this car be SO FILTHY from OUR PETS if it had already be cleaned??? My husband pointed this out, and again the MANAGER stated that the woman we spoke to ACTUALLY DID have photos--but again, coincidentally she wasn't there to prove it. He explained how we were getting a "deal" because the cleaning charge was actually $200. My husband pointed out that he was told that the cleaning charge was $250, and again their story changed, "Oh yes, it is $250." With everything that my husband says, they change their story to fit ours. They refuse to take our charge off, and told us that if we fought it we would be placed on some sort of black list to prevent us from ever renting from them again. FIRST OF ALL you think I'm going to rent from you again????? SECOND OF ALL, Hertz, if you are reading this, don't think we've turned away in defeat. Customers: go to Enterprise instead. read more
