The Gold Plus kiosk is inside the garage. No surprise. They have higher end Ford F-150 or so it looks. Their idea of a Ford Edge or similar is this Nissan Pathfinder. Why is it that we often get forced to drive Nissans? We haven't had such good look with Nissans for rentals, as they don't seem to be the greatest quality. Let's hope this one is better. There is random white paint in a few spots around this SUV. On the passenger rear door, back gate, driver's side too. Also some scrap marks by the lift gate, no doubt from dragging items in and out of the trunk. read more

Absolutely shitty experience. I will never ever rent a car with Hertz in the future. I was charged for a cracked windshield without me being any responsible for it, the car wasn't in my possession for hours until it was checked by an employee later during the day after an over night drop off and all of sudden I have a cracked windshield to pay for for $588 which $130 of that is administrative charges. Photos have not been provided showing the real damage of the windshield. Just blame it on the customer and we are supposed to pay for it with blinded eyes. Customer service was absolutely NOT helpful. Hours wasted on phone calls and when you want to finally pay because you are sick of the bullshit, there's no easy way to take a payment. So nothing was resolved and I couldn't even pay for it and the customer service hung up on me. Absolute shit and really upsetting. read more

On July 12, 2025, I reserved a premium SUV (T6) vehicle with Hertz. Unfamiliar with North American vehicles, the salesperson implied that the vehicle, a Dodge Durango, that I was given, was in this category, even though it actually belongs to a lower category (large SUV (T)). At no time did the salesperson inform me of the change in category. My reservation was prepaid, and they did not refund the difference. The reservation is for a period of 3 weeks. It was impossible to reach the agency by phone, which systematically redirects me to the website. A complaint was filed with the international call center, but I have not heard back from the agency after several days. A complaint was filed with the "Office de la protection du consommateur" (Consumer Protection Office). I will also file a complaint with the police upon my return to Montreal for deception/fraud. PS: You ruined our road trip through this magnificent region of Quebec and the Gaspé Peninsula. Awful! Absolutely terrible! Never again! My reservation was for 7:00 p.m. Ben checked me in and said to wait until he called me. The wait was over 1.5 hours and there were only a few new people that came over that time! When I asked him why the wait was 1.5 hours, he said they were busy. When I asked why he did not warn me that it would be 1.5 hours and possibly that he would text me when the car was ready, he replied that he could not do that because he had "no idea" how long the wait would be. These statements are contradictory. Either he knew they were busy and that the wait would be long, in which case he should have offered to text me when the car came in, or he did not know - both are very disappointing. read more

There are no words for the disaster Hertz at the Montreal airport. It deserves zero stars. We stood in line for 1 hour to check in for our already reserved car. We have now been waiting another hour and still don't have a car. We are one group in at least 50 people waiting for cars for 2-3 hours. The issue is they have no one to clean and inspect the cars that have been dropped off. Side note: We are Gold members. There is no Gold line. So don't think that'll get you an advantage. There are no Gold cars waiting for you like at every other Hertz. This is a random Sunday evening in October. I can't imagine what a holiday looks like. This is by far the absolute worst service I've ever experienced at Hertz. We picked up our rental in upstate NY for a work trip to Montreal. Almost immediately our driver noticed the tire pressure warning message came on. We stopped to fill the tire only to stop again later to refill the tire and even bought a new valve cap since we determined the valve was leaking. We parked in a garage once we got to Canada, ate dinner, and came out to a completely flat tire. When my manager called Hertz to figure out options, he asked if we could go to the airport and exchange for another rental. We were told we could not do that, and the only option was to change our reservation to a one way and then pick up another one way back to Rochester. Or they said we could also pay to have the tire fixed and they would reimburse us. We told them we had a business meeting and would not have time to do this. Luckily our admin back in the office called again later and seemingly got it all straightened out.. When we arrived here after our business meeting, we dropped our car off and told them about the problems. They seemed willing to help but we are still waiting for our replacement 2 hours later. They keep claiming our car is being washed but let's be honest... Now they're also unwilling to give us a Canadian car because we're driving to the States. This is absolutely unacceptable and unprofessional. read more

I rented the car via Priceline.com. The price was great, and when I picked up the car the woman at the counter was very informative, great and was very helpful. Unfortunately when we returned the car that is where the horror started. The guy at the counter seemed flustered while we were the only ones in the office. He told us to sit down while he looked up our file. When he brought up the total, he told us that we couldn't pay by cash or debit, and that we had to pay by credit card. Then when he gave us the receipt he said the holds on our credit card would come off their system in a couple of hours, but that he couldn't give us a breakdown on the bill as to what part were charges for the rental and what part we're the holds on the credit card. Then he said the file was closed but that he couldn't close out the bill because he did not have access. He called his manager and was told not to worry and that the manager would close out the bill tomorrow and that everything would be ok. I called the manager the next day to confirm if we could come back and pay the bill by cash or debit, and he said yes we could, and when I why the other clerk told us no, he said that he was from another location and that he did not have full access to their system. So far that same individual without access has been working their for three days, because when my Mother who, yes helped me with the bill went back the same person was their as well as the manager. So it turns out that the initial clerk Charged her credit card for another $2400 dollars by mistake and did not remove any of the holds on the card and the bill was still not closed. When she told the manager that visa will charge her additional interest on the charges and that this mistake would cost her more money, the manager told her not to worry because the credit card companies don't do that! Then the manager told my mom that he was so happy that the week was over, and that the real manager would be back next week, so that he wouldn't have to deal with any of this stupidity!. We are still not sure if they returned the $2400 but are following up with the bank! Utter incompetence!! read more

Traveling from USA on our last day on vacation our rental got broken into, 2 windows smashed. Lisa and her team made it a very simple and quick transition to exchange our car and get us on our way. Especially considering she had to work with USA hertz paperwork and transfer it to Canadian hertz paperwork. Would recommend. Only downside was we had to pay for parking to get into and out of the international airport. read more

Do not rent from Hertz Montreal Airport, I would give this a zero star rating if that was an option. Service at check-in was horrible, even for so called "Gold' members. They did not have my car ready and seemed very disorganized. If you are unfortunate enough to rent a car from Hertz Montreal airport, be sure to watch at check-out that they note you brought the tank back full, otherwise they automatically will charge you $30+ for fuel and make you later prove with a receipt that you purchased gas before drop off. Total scam. Completely dissatisfied customer, will be switching to a different rental provider in future. read more

I agree with some of the other comments. I am a 20+ year Hertz Gold member. The counter staff tried some ham handed upselling. When that failed, she dismissed my direction to NOT give me the fuel service charge by telling me that at the end of my trip if the tank were near full they would only charge me for what was used. I should've been more suspicious, but at 8pm with my whole family there my focus was on getting out of there. Her promise was not honored. At the end of our trip I returned the car 7/8 full but was still charged $58 in fuel charges. I was lied to and based on the other review here it seems obvious that this is a common practice at this location. Hertz has refused to refund me. The rule seems to be buyer beware. In this case I screwed up by trusting them. read more

In my experience, this is the worst Hertz location among the 4 found in Montreal. The front counter staff are often clueless about company policies and are by far the most annoying rental agents I've encountered due to their persistent pushing of Hertz's Collision Damage Waiver and Prepaid Fuel services. They are also quite inefficient and the Gold Desk often gets swamped due to their incompetency. The rental facility is located in the parking lot facility which is only a few minutes walk from the main terminal. The facility is shared with other rental car agencies but renting from Hertz requires traveling the furthest distance. In addition, their car selection is laughable compared to the Avis or National desks steps away. I've reserved a fullsize vehicle on several occasions and they never ever have one available. Their only redeeming quality are their car lot attendants. I've been helped invaluably by them on several instances (such as when they gave me a Jeep Wrangler in serious disrepair on a SFAR reservation). As well, you are nearly always assured an attendant checking the vehicle and issuing a dropoff receipt which does not happen at the downtown locations. Unless you really need a car and have a limited timeframe, you are much better off purchasing a $10 daily transit pass and taking the 747 bus to rent from the downtown Hertz locations. read more

I had a bad experience with this company. First of all, Tony, the associate who greeted us, tried to charge us three different times for unnecessary upgrades in a very sneaky manner. (For example, offering us a car with a GPS without letting us know that cost extra, and informing us that he'd upgraded us for comfort to a bigger vehicle without us requesting something larger). This behaviour was off-putting, to say the least, especially since we were just renting the car for a night and 2 days and had made it clear we were budget-conscious. When we returned the vehicle, we were charged $83.00 extra for fuel and service! We had returned the tank 3/4 full. No idea where this 83 dollar charge came from. I will not be using Hertz at this location again and will not recommend it to friends. Have had much better experiences with other rental companies. read more

It was my only bad experience with Hertz. I am a Hertz Gold member and have rented from Hertz more than 5 times this year. When I arrived at this Hertz location, I was told that my reservation was cancelled. No reason, no explanation about who did it, just cancelled. I waited for at least 40 minutes to try to re-open a reservation and match the original rental rate. When I returned the car the next day, I got my receipt with CAD 25.71 as total due. However, the final amount on my credit card was USD 46.20 (CAD 53.62). I called Hertz and they said it was a penalty for driving too many miles. read more

As a Platinum American Express Gold member, I requested upgrade. I was told they do have a vehicle available for upgrade, but I have to pay for it $50/day upgrade fee. When returned I requested 4 hrs grace period (should be available for members), again, no available and charged me extra day. No happy with the service at all. read more
