Recently rented a suburban here. Pickup was easy and just as expected. My vehicle had a full tank of gas. Had the vehicle for 1 week. Returned it with a full tank and I slightly cleaned the interior and exterior to a condition slightly better than it was when I received it. Useless. Easily confused. Less than competent. Made a reservation through their service - I asked to pick up at noon and reservation was made without a hitch or even a mention. Pick-up day arrives and late in the morning (it was at least 10:30 am, if not later), I get a call from the location telling me that they close at noon, so, basically, eff me, I will need to come by when they're open on Monday. (Not "We see your reservation was for noon, we wondered whether you might be able to pick up slightly earlier as we have to [for whatever reason that their service should really already have planned in their reservation-making process] close on the dot of 12 noon?" - so I was puzzled.) When I asked for a little more information, turns out, they didn't actually have any cars - and wouldn't for the next four (business!!!!!) days...regardless of my "reservation" or "confirmation" or the (minimal estimate - was probably more like an hour) half hour I spent making the reservation by phone in the first place. (Yeah, even though they supposedly knew they wouldn't have car until at least Wednesday, they told me to come by in person on Monday. Great-great-great-great!!!) Hertz in general isn't particularly customer-centered but this location in particular is utterly disconnected from the actual world or common business practice. It seemed like they really expected me to say "Sure! I know I rented a car for X day, but shit, I was just going to camp in your parking lot for the first week!" and they were effing puzzled when I told them they could cancel their reservation and I wouldn't be paying a late cancellation fee. Unlike some of the other reviews, at least they had a car available! However, we were to return in on Sunday - and they associate at the counter warned us that if we did not meet the deadline, we would be charged overages by the hour. She did NOT mention that the office is closed on Sunday and they would not check the car in until Monday morning no matter what time we showed up and dropped off the keys on Sunday. (???? - Why the threat? Why not just say, "You can't return until Monday, so it's going to cost you an extra day."?) Anyway, we were charged a higher daily rate, an extra day, AND a late fee. I was able to call the 1-800 customer service line and the representative immediate, and without question, agreed to refund the additional charges. That saved the review for HERTZ, but the E-town office doesn't get much respect here. Not friendly, not helpful, not honest. read more

Made online reservation. Arrived given car with Tire pressure warning light on, told to just drive it around light will go out, no it won't! I did as asked noticing not one pressure sensing cap on any tire, came back in 15 and store closed for lunch. So waited till they came back by sitting in their lot. BTW no answering machine or forwarding just rings and rings when call also. I was told I can take the other car sitting out front that was dirty. I took as was on a schedule, got in saw only 1/2 tank, went into office she said I know we will make note of it. I went to car wash as I could barely see through windshield had to wash the inside also it was all smeared. Just saw on my final bill no adjustments or acknowledgements on any of I paid full price for this service! read more

The manager is awesome! Very friendly! I had talked to her by phone the day before my reservation, the next day when I walked in I had told the young lady my name and she was in the back and heard me she came out and introduced herself and we had a great conversation about family! I recommend this location to my friends and family! I will definitely be back for my future needs! read more

This franchise of Hertz conducts business in a less than desirable manner. I rented a vehicle and returned it as agreed in the signed contract only to find out a week later that they have billed me four times the amount than was agreed in the contract. I visited the business to point out the billing issues, but was quickly dismissed by a female representative that assure me that the manager was going to call me. They did not call me and a long tedious process that will take 30 days began. The location's representatives will not return calls to include the manager and his supervisor. Needless to say, I took my complaint to the Better Business Bureau and after one month going back and forward I was able to recover the full amount that was billed incorrectly to my credit card. If considering to do business with them, please refer to the Better Business Bureau website page to find out complaints similar to mine. Needless to say, I will never do business with this Hertz location ever again. By the way, I believe the same staff runs the Fort Knox Branch as well. read more

I usually go with enterprise, but my insurance company sent me here. Not a horrible experience picking up, pretty easy. I have the rental for about 3 weeks as my car is getting fixed. No floor mats were provided. I had my child's car seat in the backseat so I tried to pick up as much as possible before dropping it off, but I should have vacuumed it out. There was a little bit of mud as it had rained for the past 3 days but not a lot and it would have been better had there been floor mats. In the contract it says cars that are excessively dirty will be charged a $100 cleaning fee. This car is not excessively dirty, just needs a vacuuming and wipe out, something I thought they did anyway when rentals are brought back. Get a call the next day, as I dropped it off the night before, saying that I will be getting charged a cleaning fee. When talking to the person they get somewhat rude and say that the car is "quite disgusting". Really? A few crumbs from a kid, a mark from where their car seat is, and a very small amount of mud is disgusting? After going back and forth and their attitude coming out I said that's fine and paid the fee. I will never go through this company again. I've never had issues with enterprise and they always have floor mats in their cars. read more

I was mislead by the sales person about the Fuel Purchase plan and was charged way more than what i was told. I had a reservation to rent a car from Hertz location in Elizabethtown, KY. First of all, my car was unavailable and I had to wait close to a hour for them to prep my car a refuel it. I dealt with it without complaining. The sales lady offered me the fuel purchase plan. I confirmed with her that I will be charged at $3.22/gal only for the fuel I used. Not a full tank of fuel. So I returned my rental at louisville international airport and I get charged $58.76. I have pictures from the car instrument gauge showing how much I used. How is this possible? I'm in the army. I can assure you I don't get paid much. I'm using my hard earned money and going home for the first time after a year long deployment overseas. I don't have any money to throw away. I called the Elizabethtown store and they offered no help or refund. They are giving me a different story. this is very disappointing. I also called and emailed Hertz Customer service number and they didn't offer any help either. they didn't even email me back. person on the phone was useless. read more
