Anything higher than a 1 star review has to be a mistake or they've clicked on the wrong location. This dark, dirty little hole in the wall of an ex used car lot is a joke, the cars they rent are filthy and not maintained, and the staff couldn't care less about you and are a general disgrace to Hertz. This location handles insurance related rentals and I'll pray for you if you have to go there. I was on my third car from this place after refusing the first two cars because they drove like they were falling apart. The third car broke down three weeks into the rental and this location was essentially useless for resolving the problem. The best part? Hertz customer service won't help either because it's an insurance rental so you can't just go to another Hertz location to get your issue resolved. I'm a longtime Hertz loyalty customer and I've never been treated as badly as I was at this location. I was given the option of rental companies when my car went into the shop and I didn't think I could go wrong chosing Hertz. They proved me wrong at every turn. I would like to give NO STARS-- The Greenwood - South State Road 135 695 South State Road 135, Greenwood, Indiana, 46142 location is the worse. I will be telling everyone I know not to bother going there. This use to be a good place to rent-- no way ever going back there. Their district manager was there the day we rented and was talking to the Manager who checked us in. The Manager refused our licenses and our triple AAA cards. The Manager would not look at my insurance card and did not take any of the information. He just gave us the keys to the car and had us sign. Did not walk us around the car. We were so taken aback- we didn't realize that he had totally added multiple things to our bill. As soon as we realized this, we called them. (Within the day) The Manager assured us it would be taken care on the return. We returned the car, and they did not take care of any of the issues. They said the Manager was no longer with the company. If you want a horrible customer service experience, a rental car charged twice what you booked, then go with Hertz. As for me I am going back to Enterprise -- they honor their words! read more

Terrible customer service, don't count on actually getting a vehicle. Called on 12/29/22 to get a replacement vehicle due to discovering the vehicle I received in Chicago and driven south had a bent wheel and several chunks missing out of the tire. After waiting on hold for 30+ minutes, "Brad" took the call. I explained my current situation, and asked if getting a replacement vehicle (Tesla Model Y) was possible. He let me know he couldn't get one that day but could have a replacement at 9am on 12/30/22, this worked as it was on the way back to Chicago. At 8:45am on 12/30/22, I called the location to let them know I was going to be there closer to 9:15, was charging the vehicle. Brad let me know that he wasn't able to get me a vehicle, and that he couldn't until after noon. I let him know we needed to be back in Chicago by early afternoon, and he basically told me nothing he could do. I asked if he could get one set up for me to pick up at the airport, and then says "the airport doesn't do Uber". Ask what he means, we are not Uber - he then says hold on a second. Then he tells me I need to call Chicago and setup a replacement through them... yet I had explained the situation the day prior when he told me he could get a replacement. Complete waste of my time, now forced to drive a vehicle with a bent wheels and chunks out of the wheel (none of my doing) to Chicago. read more

I had rented a car from the hertz on 135 in Greenwood. It was not the first time. My car had been in and out of the shop. This time I was booking every week for like 3 weeks. This last time when I went to book online I couldn't book the insurance. So when I went in that Monday morning I told the lady that it was not showing up as an option and that I would need it. She said ok. We got everything done. I went to get the car and start work. I was in a hurry because I do Home health care and had patients to see. So two days later on Wednesday I got into a car accident. I went to hertz to let them know and she said that the insurance was not on there. The lady was nice and said she remembered me asking for the insurance and said she knows she clicked yes for it and that they have cameras that can prove it. She had to contact the big boss who was supposed to contact me but never did. I went back in a couple days later and she said there's nothing they can do. The big boss refuses to do anything about it. When I told the manger that my license will be getting suspended he then said "oh you have 60 days" and walked away. For their mistake I'm getting punished. They don't care about their customers. Worst place ever to get a rental! read more

Insurance rented a vehicle for me while fixing my wrecked car. We had the rental for almost a month . When the repairs were finished I called Hertz told them we was returning the vehicle that day. They advised me to leave the rental at the dealership and leave the keys at the service desk and they would pick it up. We did that and a week later they charged my credit card $188.77 because they didn't pick up the rental for a week. Called Hertz and they said they would take the money back off my credit card but they never did. I had to file a dispute with Chase bank to get the money back. They are still sending me bills for $188.77. I keep calling them but nothing ever gets accomplished . Maybe I will try the BBB or Attorney General office. I will never use Hertz again ! read more

Worst location I have ever been too. Gave me a damaged car that wasn't damaged in the system. Thank goodness for pictures. Watch out! The customer service is awful. I called in my reservation and told them what kind of car I needed and paid extra for a larger vehicle because I am a taller man and was driving 500 miles to Atlanta. I also have back issues and need the room to have some movement. The agent that took my reservation gave me the impression it would not be a problem and even entered into the reservation the make of car I would like. When I get to to pick up the vehicle I get an Toyota Avalon. Granted it is a nice vehicle but it is a Camry with a nicer interior, which means nothing to me. I went back into see if there was anything that could be done other than I get on the phone or drive to the other Hertz locations. I rent cars a lot for both personal and am a Gold Card member with Hertz. Your grade for customer service at this location is a F-. read more

Clerks are not making notes in their system when people call to make changes so customers will be charged with higher fees, Andrew and her manager are totally dishonest, plus their attitude is really bad. Hertz customer service said that because they ate not recording phone calls in their system people is getting charged without any other option. Terrible office, dirty and poorly arranged. read more

I have never been more frustrated with a place in my life. I rented a car, went in to get it, and was told that they do not have any cars. After haggling about the reservation I was told " that's just how it is". I ended up having to go to Enterprise Rent-A-Car. I told the guy there when it happened. He upgraded me, gave me a discount, and told me that he would always be there if I had any questions to take care of me. The lady at Hertz Rent-a-Car left work as I was standing outside on the phone trying to get the issue figured out. This is the WORST PLACE, DO. NOT RENT FROM HERE! I had totaled my car and my insurance set up a rental through this Hertz. I tried to call to ensure they had a car ready for me, after attempting to call three times and no one answering my husband and I decided to go there anyway. Once we arrived and after waiting for 10 min, we were informed that they were out of cars. So I set up an appointment to pick up a car the next morning at 8AM when they opened. The next day we arrived at 759 am and no one was there. We waited around in the parking lot with about 5 other people. At 0815 the employee finally showed up. My car prior to the accident was a Chevy Cruze, they rented me a Ford Fiesta. Which this maybe something on the insurance end of things. But a few days of driving the car around I was getting something out of the glove box and saw that the registration had EXPIRED 4 months ago. When I called to tell them this they just brushed it off like it was no big deal, they told me someone must have forgotten to put the updated one in the glove box. They went on to say that it's a rental and if I were to get pulled over the police would see that and I would be fine. They have the worst customer serves and my rental smells so bad. I hope no one ever uses this place unless it is 100% necessary. read more

My first and worst car rental experience. I have gotten a car rental from Hertz and within the week the car broke down. At the time I made the mistake of making an assumption that it could be a simple battery drain and I may have left the light on(This is nothing more than an assumption). After towing the car to repair center, I was told the whole battery is damaged beyond repair and this could not have been possible with leaving lights on, the only conclusion they could come to was that the battery was faulty. I have facilitated calls between repair center and Herts customer service to convey the same and Hertz agreed to pay for the repair as long as the technician provided the conclusion in a written statement. After I have returned the car, Hertz deducted the repair cost from my credit card. I have raised the issue with Hertz more than 3 times and throughout their investigations of the issue, they did not even make a call to repair center to get a detailed account. The only reason they provided me on charging me was that 'I have left the light on which caused the battery damage'. I have told them many times this was an assumption I made and they have the statement from the technician saying that could not have been the reason. But Hertz is still insist ing on making me pay. I have raised a dispute to the credit company and submitted the same document, they have ruled in my favor and retracted the payment. Hertz now has sent me a new invoice with an implicit threat that they will report me as a delinquent if I do not pay for the repair. I feel like they are charging me simply because they can and I have no real recourse. I am sure they must be thinking what does one more negative review can do. I am posting this here to warn others of similar situations that could happen to them. Stay clear of this bully if possible. read more

I rented a car over the memorial holiday- to go to the race. When i went to pick up the car, I was told that any gas i DID'NT use would be refunded. I prepaid over $31.00 and only put 98 miles on the car. NOTHING was credited back to my card. Per their customer service, they dont credit gas back. I left more than 1/2 a tank for nothing. Had i known, i would have let the car sit in the drive way running. BEWARE. THEY WILL RIP YOU OFF. read more
