DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY! This place is an absolute joke. Completely unprofessional, disorganized, and disrespectful. If you value your time, money, or even basic decency--STAY AWAY. My sister made a reservation one full month in advance. Everything was confirmed. But when she showed up to pick up the vehicle she reserved, they gave her some ridiculous excuse that the previous renter took the keys, so the car was no longer available. What kind of business model is that? No backup plan. No accountability. Just "sorry, nothing we can do." They claimed they had no similar vehicles and instead offered her something significantly larger--a gas guzzler she didn't want and didn't budget for. My sister, who is not confrontational, accepted it hesitantly because she was confused and caught off guard. She wasn't even shown the vehicle ahead of time--only realized what she was driving when she stepped outside! As her older sister, I went inside to speak with the agent. While waiting in line, I noticed this same employee assign a vehicle to another customer--a vehicle that could've been given to my sister. I was on the phone with our oldest sister, calmly explaining the situation, when the agent suddenly decided to "help" me by skipping everyone in line. She immediately got hostile without even letting me speak. I wasn't loud, rude, or aggressive--but her tone was nasty and combative from the second she opened her mouth. She then had the nerve to say she didn't have to talk to me because I wasn't the renter. Excuse me? I was simply advocating for my sister, who was being taken advantage of. Then she stormed to the back, clearly trying to escalate the situation rather than solve it. I assumed she was calling the police--it turned out to be the owner, who shockingly condoned her unprofessional behavior. My sister then came in herself to try and resolve things peacefully, but the agent continued to make excuses and push blame elsewhere. She acted like she was doing us a favor by offering the wrong vehicle and had zero interest in finding a solution. When we asked if she could confirm with the airport location before we wasted time going there, she replied, "They don't answer the phone." What?! She tried to spin the situation as an "upgrade" when in reality, it was a financial burden and a complete failure to honor a reservation. To top it off, when we were still trying to figure out if we should drive to the airport or request a refund, she suddenly declared they would no longer serve us. Then she snatched the paperwork and keys out of my sister's hand. When I asked her to give us back the contract (our only proof of the rental), she didn't even have the decency to hand it back like a professional--she shoved it into my hands. Absolutely disgusting behavior. The agent was beyond rude, and the owner was no better. I wouldn't trust these people with a tricycle, let alone a rental vehicle. Save yourself the stress, the money, and the disappointment--go anywhere else. This is BAD BUSINESS, and they should be ashamed of how they treat customers. read more

Is there a way to actually reach someone in the AVIS car rental office in Greenwod, Indiana 794 US 31 North? I've called the local number and it ALWAYS sends me to another site. When I made my reservation, they emailed me a confirmation number. When I tried to retrieve the information it said not found. They didn't have my phone number either when I had to deal with the automations on the phone. I finally reached a live person and they confirmed that the instructions say to pick me up at 11am tomorrow. I asked to be transferred to the Greenwood location, but they said they have their phones turned off. All I want is peace of mind that they will indeed pick me up tomorrow at 11am. Their office closes at noon, so there isn't much time before they close. I would have gotten the reservations for today, but they said there weren't any cars available until tomorrow. I emailed customer service and just got an automatic response. No help at all. Wish me luck on this one. I don't know how to reach them. Driving to the location is not possible. I don't have a car! I reserved a 12 passenger van on 12.28.22 for our family spring break trip in March 2023. 48 hours prior to our trip, I get a text message that they will not have the vehicle I reserved, but they could get me 2 cars instead. That was their only way of trying to help. They apologized, but an apology won't get my family to our destination. The lady at the desk is completely incompetent. A car was reserved for my husband to pick up to go out of town for work. He gave his name and the lady couldn't find him. He asked if she wanted his wizard number she declined. Then "found" his reservation. She then proceeded to tell him that his wife (me) misspelled his name that's why she couldn't find it. I had walked at that time to find out the delay. She was still insisting i misspelled his name and it needed corrected. We've been married over 20 years, I make mistakes but that would not be one. I expressed that I logged into his Avis account to make the reservation. He shares the confirmation with her that she had also previously declined and it was then discovered she was looking at someone else's reservation. We rent from Avis nearly every week with his job but I now know that while this location may be the closest if we are renting from our area it is but the one to go to. read more

After having a reservation and paying money for Uber to get the vehicle they didn't have any cars available. When I walked in to get the car, the gentleman said they were going to call me. I had the car reserved for several hours before arriving to pick it up. I will not be reserving a car with them in the future. They didn't refund me for Uber coming or going. Do not use this location!!! I made a reservation for a rental in November for the week between Christmas and New Years. When we arrived to the location on 12/24 we were told the only car available was an SUV. We reserved a smaller vehicle as we didn't need an SUV or want to pay the gas prices for a much larger vehicle. My husband asked to be compensated for the gas mileage variation and the woman at the counter, Susan, said we received an "upgrade" so no discount could be applied. I asked the woman the mpg difference between the car we reserved and the car we were given and she said she'd look it up. I told her we made a reservation for a reason and would like the car we reserved. The woman replied, "you're lucky to get anything." I said excuse me? And she handed my husbands drivers license back and said she refused to complete our transaction and walked to the back room. We called customer service and had to drive across town to get a car, we were given a discount for our trouble but I've never experienced such terrible customer service. I will not use Avis again after this experience and urge others to stay away! read more

I was initially drawn to avis for their discount for healthcare workers and appreciative for a discount during the times of covid and I thought my hard work has been recognized. I absolutely regret my decision and I will never rent through Avis again. I prepaid for a car for my parents back in January of 2022, during covid, and 11 months later, my parents go to the Greenwood, IN Avis to pick up their car and they are told they can't. For security reasons, their daughter (with the same last name and same address) is not allowed to prepay for a car and put the reservation in my father's name. My parents had to sit in the parking lot for over an hour waiting to try and pick up a car that was pre-paid for them. They are told to talk with the Greenwood, IN supervisor. She does nothing to help them and sends them to Avis customer service. One lady answers the phone initially, then they get sent to the customer service supervisor, Freddy, and he did absolutely nothing to help them pick up their car. I was even willing to come and show my ID (again with the same address and name as my parents) to pick up this car and Freddy says there's nothing that they can do to get a rental. They were trying to charge my parents double the amount that I had already pre-paid for them, just to pick up their car today. I'm convinced that Avis is a scam and I can assure you, we will NEVER be renting a car through Avis again. read more

We rent cars a couple times a year for various trips out of state and we always use Avis/Budget! The service is great, but we don't always get the size car that we pay for. In fact twice we have been given a smaller car than what we paid for and been charged more for it. Be careful and make sure you know your car sizes so you're not taken advantage of! read more

DO NOT USE THIS LOCATION!! The lady that helped us was rude and rushed us through the process. She handed me the keys and I had to ask which vehicle? After that I said well can we check it to make sure everything is good. She responded, "you can check it". We have rented through Enterprise in the past and they always walk the vehicle with you and make sure you are satisfied. This wasn't this case at Avis. I went to view the vehicle and found it dirty inside/out. As I was doing this the employee locked the door and rushed to her vehicle and left! I tried to call that evening and just getting the national line and they weren't much help. The next day I called the location to tell them what happened and they told me that it was the owner of this branch that had helped me. NEVER AGAIN!! read more

We were given an SUV for 7 days that had doors that didn't lock! Called customer service when we realized it and was told we should have told the person that rented it to us when we took the car. Well, we would have but no one ever took us out to show us the car and we didn't notice it didn't lock until we were 6 hours away from the business. The man at the desk pointed to the parking lot and said "it's the red SUV". That's the most information he gave us about the car. He never went outside at all. Then customer service said we would receive some type of compensation for the vehicle since the location we were at in TN didn't have an Avis closer than 2 1/2 hrs away to switch the car. Of course, we were charged the full amount today. When I called customer service this afternoon, they said there was nothing noted on my account about compensation and it only said we should have switched it with another car! The customer service woman said she doesn't have authorization to compensate anything, so I asked for her supervisor. After holding for a few minutes, she said they didn't have any supervisors available. What a joke! I've attached a video of the doors not locking when it was "armed" with a pointless alarm system that clearly doesn't work. read more

I will not recommend this company or location. We reserved a mini van over 4 months prior to our trip in June and didn't find out until we went to pick it up that they don't have a van for us. They had been trying to get vans and couldn't. They only had a Yukon that has no storage for luggage and has no room for passengers in the 3rd row seats. We had 20 year olds to sit in the back row with their knees in their chest. I called customer service to complain and he gave me a claim number and told me that he would put notes in the computer saying Avis would refund half our gas and refund us the materials we had to purchase to haul our luggage. When I supplies the receipts to the email address provided, I get an email back stating there are no notes on the computer and they will not refund us our money. They did provide us with $50 for all the inconvenience we had but this didn't cover the expenses we had spent. Very poor company and will NOT ever use this company again regardless of the money it would save. read more
