    Time I went back

    I rented a car for a midnight pickup on 9/21/24. I arrived to be told my reservation needed to be done 24 hours in advance. This is not normal as I consistently have to rent cars and asked when did this change. I was told it was something they just did for that day. I told the Manager on Duty Alexander David that I rented through Priceline and how was I to know this and also it was available on Priceline. He said he understood and I could come back after 5am to pickup a car. He then gave me another managers business card name Peyton S. Hollan and wrote a message on the back. I was also told I would be upgraded and gas comped to make it right. I asked him what to do if the counter still said it wasn't 24 hours and he said that was just something for that day and they would prioritize me today. He then told me he was personally send a text message to Peyton also. I left upset but decided to try to maintain the reservation since it was still before my work event. However, I made it back to the Airport location at approximately 6:15 and was told it was still not 24 hours and they would have something that evening. I then asked to speak to Peyton. I explained my conversation with Alex to Peyton (noted Tri- Brand Station Manager- Enterprise) who told me he did not get a text and that what Alex told me was a lie. He said he arrived to no cars and nothing would be available until later. Later would be after my work event and no longer needed. I told him this was unacceptable and a waste of my time and I would not have come back up there if I had known this. I asked how would I get a refund and he said he would email Priceline if needed. I then asked for Alex's full name and informed him I would be complaining. I then asked him if he knew where I could complain and he told me honestly he doesn't know. Told him I would find it out. I immediately get into my car and google complaints against rental car managers and immediately get information on all. I would assumed Peyton did not want to make this easier for me. I will be posting this complaint on all platforms as my time and finances were made a joke with Alamo Rental. The fact that people usually rent cars for important matters and not just for leisure and this is how this is handled is ridiculous. Please note that my airport houses Alamo, National and Enterprise together, so Managers cover all areas.

    The entire experience at the IND location is always a smooth one. Excellent service seems to be ingrained within the entire staff. As airline professional I choose Alamo over the competition.. as they always have the best selection of automobiles and frequently upgrade my res.. this location is always so easy to depart from and return, as vehicles are adjacent to terminal

    We went with Alamo this time because the price was lower than the place that I usually deal with for the points/perks. As noted in other reviews, the check in/out was a breeze here. I arrived at the counter with 2 people ahead of me - one at the service counter and one using the kiosk. The person using the kiosk had some issues with it so I was up next fairly quickly. The system was very easy to navigate, however, the customer service guy came around the counter just to make sure that I got started okay. I was able to find my reservation and print out all of the necessary documents quickly. Once the customer service guy saw that I had everything, he came back one last time to verify that my ID match the name on the reservation and told me where to go for vehicle pick up. As we entered the area, we were immediately greeted by the person in charge of check out as we spotted the white 2014 Ford Fusion with the trunk open. Right away, I asked if the Fusion was available and she said yes and verified that it was within the class that we had chosen. By the time we had made it to the vehicle and put our luggage in the trunk, she had grabbed a checkout form and started around the vehicle noting any dings and scratches. She told us that the rule of thumb was anything larger than a quarter but humored me by marking down the dime-sized dent that I noticed. From arrival to the counter and exiting of the airport, the process only took about 15-20 minutes. The return of the vehicle was faster and easier. I pulled in and before I had gathered all of my belongings to get out, the guy had scanned the vehicle barcodes and walked around the entire vehicle performing his check in inspection. By the time I had gathered everything from inside the vehicle and the trunk, he was handing my printed receipt and said "thank you and have a safe flight". E-Z-P-Z. Overall it was a good experience...I think I will join the Alamo Insiders club.

    Great, friendly employees and reasonable prices. No hassle at all - this Alamo made everything easy. Decent car selection, too

    Fast. Polite. Quick. Car is in impeccable shape. Counter to car in 5 minutes. We'll only rent from Alamo from now on.

But what I experienced was completely unacceptable…read more I had my breathing machine locked in my rental car--something I rely on to breathe and function--and there was absolutely no one available to help me access it. I was essentially left without a medically necessary device because your company had no system in place for emergencies. It is beyond unreasonable to expect someone to wait until 8:00 in the morning to access something they need to survive. This isn't about convenience--this is about basic human safety. I cannot understand why security does not have access to a key or any way to open the lockbox in a situation like this. That is a serious failure on your part. When a company deals with customers traveling at all hours, there should always be an emergency solution in place. While I will acknowledge that the staff I interacted with when I picked up my rental were friendly, that does not make up for the fact that I was left without access to something I need to breathe. Because of this, I would not recommend this company to anyone. It is alarming that every other rental company in the terminal had someone available to assist, yet your company did not. No customer should ever be put in a position where their health is at risk due to a lack of basic support. Now before anyone says well you left it. Yes I did and like my first paragraph says people make mistakes.

Just before arriving at the airport, got my confirmation that the car was ready for pick up. After landing, I skipped the Avis counter in the airport and walked straight to the car. The counter looked slick though. There were few customers and an associate helping them out. In the pick up area, all the spots were marked properly. I found my car in the designated spot. It was a new VW Atlas with 10K mileage. The car had fully cleaned exterior and interior. But it showed the oil change due warning. We had the car for 4 days. We drove around a lot, taking it all the way to Louisville, KY and back to Indianapolis. We had no issues with the car. All the functionality worked fine in the car. Upon bringing the car back for return, an associate processed the drop off as soon as I parked. That was the fastest return processing I ever had. Overall it was another excellent rental experience with Avis.

Did not offer to help us rebook or figure out other options. Just told us they don't have a car for us and that we'll get a refund. We ended up renting from the Dollar stand next to Avis. Despite it being last minute, the cost of the last minute rental at Dollar was the same as the cost of the Avis rental we had booked ahead of time. A few days after our trip, we checked our account and saw the money had not been refunded. We called Avis and they said it would take 10-14 business days for the refund to show. Overall a very unpleasant experience with Avis, would not recommend them at all.

    Unhelpful customer service, no way to reach local office. No matter what number you call it gets…read morererouted to the national office. They tell you that they might just be experiencing a high volume of calls and to just keep calling them. The national office also will not help you if you made your booking through a third-party. They claim that they can't even put notes on the reservation, but they also claim that they can't see a flight added or any information that was added when we made the reservation initially. They need to fix their issues with third-party companies and either make it to where they can actually see what people are putting in with those outside reservations or be able to still modify them internally, regardless of how they were made. They basically told us since our flight was delayed past closing "make other arrangements instead" and to just show up a see if someone waited for us and maybe realized we were delayed. For context this has happened before, I had booked with Avis, added my flight when initially booked, called customer service to let them know that it was going to be delayed, and they stated that they added the flight as well. It was apparently not added and I was told that missing my rental pick up was my fault because I did not add the flight number and I did not get a refund. Recommend trying other rental companies at this airport, we gave them a second chance and it's somehow worse the second time. Hope we can get a refund this time if we aren't able to get our car.

Both times I've been able to get a car from the nice, but pricier folks at National. Just absolutely terrible. I will never, ever, ever rent from Avis again, at Indy or anywhere. Shame.
