Mistakes happen--I understand that. But what I experienced was completely unacceptable…read more I had my breathing machine locked in my rental car--something I rely on to breathe and function--and there was absolutely no one available to help me access it. I was essentially left without a medically necessary device because your company had no system in place for emergencies. It is beyond unreasonable to expect someone to wait until 8:00 in the morning to access something they need to survive. This isn't about convenience--this is about basic human safety. I cannot understand why security does not have access to a key or any way to open the lockbox in a situation like this. That is a serious failure on your part. When a company deals with customers traveling at all hours, there should always be an emergency solution in place. While I will acknowledge that the staff I interacted with when I picked up my rental were friendly, that does not make up for the fact that I was left without access to something I need to breathe. Because of this, I would not recommend this company to anyone. It is alarming that every other rental company in the terminal had someone available to assist, yet your company did not. No customer should ever be put in a position where their health is at risk due to a lack of basic support. Now before anyone says well you left it. Yes I did and like my first paragraph says people make mistakes.

If you are renting from SIXT at Indianapolis International Airport, be warned: this location is…read moreoperated as a franchise by Tom Wood Think, Inc., and they engage in predatory post-rental billing practices that corporate SIXT refuses to override.  I am a Gold-tier loyalty member who rents weekly for business, yet this franchise slapped a $519.95 charge onto my personal card ($400 "Odor Removal" fee plus arbitrary concession inflators) for a vehicle that was inspected, cleared, and accepted by their return agent upon drop-off.  Here are the documented facts of how Tom Wood Think, Inc. operates: Billed for Services Never Rendered: SIXT support confirmed on system records (Complaint #163749) that the vehicle (Chevrolet Traverse IN-354FBS) was turned around and re-rented to a new customer the exact same day. Specialized smoke decontamination requires extended out-of-service ozone detailing. Immediate same-day turnaround proves zero detailing was performed, $0 in actual expenses were incurred, and the car was clean upon return. They literally billed me $400 for a service that never happened on a car that never left the road.  Misuse of Sensor Data: They base these penalty cash-grabs on raw readings from Bosch optical sensors, conveniently ignoring Page 2 of Bosch's own manufacturer report, which explicitly states that raw data "neither implies any actions towards end-customers nor gives decision-making advice". Ambient job-site smoke near open windows was weaponized into an automatic $400 cash grab.  No Receipts or Documentation: Despite repeated demands, Tom Wood Think, Inc. has completely failed to produce an itemized receipt from a third-party detailing vendor, out-of-service fleet logs, or device calibration records.  Hostage Funds & Broken Support: Beyond the fraudulent fee, they actively hold $501.15 in stale authorization holds on settled rentals weeks past standard release windows. Frontline support pushes you into automated AI bot loops and bouncing email addresses (noreply.service@sixt.com).  When escalated to the SIXT Office of the COO, executive management admitted that because Tom Wood is a franchise, corporate defers to the branch's "inspection records" and advised taking the matter up as a credit card dispute.  I have formally initiated a chargeback with American Express, filed complaints with the Indiana Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division and the FTC, and will be re-evaluating our corporate vendor preferences.  Take your business to a legitimate corporate car rental agency. Tom Wood Think, Inc. will clear your car in person, re-rent it hours later, and quietly hit your personal card for hundreds in phantom "services" after you walk away. *********** response to comment************** Don't let the canned corporate response below fool you. As explicitly stated in my original review, I have already taken this exact issue directly to executive leadership--specifically Rachone Jackson in the Office of the COO (Complaint #163749 / Case #20100663 (tel:20100663)).  The Office of the COO personally reviewed the file and sent a final refusal, explicitly washing their hands of the matter because this location is a franchise (Tom Wood Think, Inc.) and telling me to just file a credit card dispute. Dropping a copy-paste response on Yelp pretending you want to "review what happened" is purely for public relations and damage control. You already reviewed it, refused to produce detailing receipts or out-of-service logs, and refused to fix it.

I called throughout the day, multiple airports, even my airline tried calling to ensure I would arrive in time. I called the support number and they advised me to contact the location directly, even gave me the number... But no response. Fast forward, I FLEW from my gate to the rental counter to make sure I got there before they closed. I was chastised for not updating "my reservation" even though they had my flight number (which didn't change, just the time). The girl at the counter spent more time talking with associates about flights still arriving, even though they weren't notified. Mind you, I was NOT the only person at the counter getting a vehicle; more were coming down the escalator. NO ONE was helpful to ensure I received the vehicle I had secured and had I not run from my gate, who knows what would have happened. Sidenote - they were all quick to inform me they DO NOT have phones at the counter even though they are online and listed through the airport with a direct contact number. NOT helpful for airlines, customers, or prospective customers. Won't be renting again anytime soon

Crazy that there are a lot of really low scores. Maybe I was just really lucky. The person was very helpful and friendly at the desk. I pre-purchased when booking, but the person went through the usual song and dance (offering insurance, how I want to return the gas tank, etc.). Standard stuff really. They didn't have the level of car I booked so they upgraded me. Once the paperwork was done they instructed me to head out to the stall and get in the car. Just a really streamlined and easy experience. The vehicle was nice and I was excited to get on the road. The exiting process was standard and easy as well. This airport had easy to follow signs on the return. I cleaned up what I could and got my stuff and left the car along with the keys in the return area. Smooth sailing!

The only reason i give this 3 star is because management fixed the problem quick and easy. i only paid like $230 for collision and deposit. if i were you i WOULD NOT go to front counter, go straight to the managers at the HERTZ office outside. The cars are nice and well kept however.
