    I reserved a car for 4 days as my vehicle was in the shop for repairs and the shop didn't have a…read morerental available. I booked the reservation at a cost of $36/day. The shop advised me a day later that there was a delay with one of the needed parts and I would need the rental longer. I contacted the Gwinn Avis location where I got the rental from and the rep I spoke with said she'd extend the reservation. I asked if the rate would change and she told me "no". When I returned the rental today, I was given the receipt. I expected a bill of about $350-$400. Instead it was over $1,100! I nicely asked the rep why. She reviewed the contract and pointed out the fine print that said if it needed to be extended, the additional daily rate was $115/day. I tired explaining that I had missed catching that when I signed and said I understood that I had signed but that extenuating circumstances happened just before needing the rental causing me to be very distracted and to have missed this (we had a fire at my home and I was living at a hotel temporarily while clean up and repairs were being done). She could have cared less and replied with "your misfortune doesn't change the fact that you signed the contract." I said there has to be something that could be done especially since the rep told me the rate wouldn't change. She told me that the conversation was over and to get out. I am a customer service manager and have been working in the industry for over 30 years. I have had to kick rude customers out who were making threats and/or swearing/yelling. I did none of these and was still treated as such. I am very appalled at the lack of empathy she displayed and the poor customer service. Come to find out - she's the manager! DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS LOCATION AS THEY ARE FRANCHISE OWNED AND ARE TERRIBLE!

Owners were so rude, and clueless…read more Sharon Dunn, the owner, wasn't even there at the counter and they gave us a phone number to contact them and we left three messages and contacted them for almost an hour before she returned the call, and then she acted like she didn't know we had a reservation and went with all the information all over again. And mind you she was still at home when she wanted all this information. He finally had to go down the way to enterprise who hooked us up with the very last car but we end up paying $250 more! Recalled several numbers for customer service for thrifty they just wanted more information and then they completely stopped contacting us. A horrible experience. They do not even deserve a one star review! We wasted a lot of vacation time with all this mess.

Hertz and national were staffed but out of cars. We called local thrifty and they said they would be there in 15 minutes. When the guy arrived he says: " your late!" in a pissed off tone. I asked what people who are delayed are supposed to do? He immediately EXPLODES and says: " I don't have time for your BULLSHIT! I WILL NOT be renting to you!". We promptly left as he was out of his mind. Needless to say I will be telling all of my friends and family to avoid this psycho and this Thrifty location!

    Completely wasted 5 hours of my time. They had a car for sale on FB that was advertised as an…read moreall-wheel drive, but also front-wheel drive in the same ad. I called him up, said I'm interested, but is it AWD or FWD? He said for sure it was AWD, and that the ladies in the office must've screwed something up with the ad. Fair enough, asked him what else is wrong with it, he said it had a battery drain. Ok, anything else that needs fixing, replacing, addressing, etc? He said no, it's very clean, so I made the 2.5 hour ride after telling him I'll be there in 2.5 hours. I get there and he's gone, nobody knows where he went. I check out the vehicle and notice 3 out of 4 tires are down to 3/32" tread remaining (bald!). One was weather cracked so bad I could nearly see the air, and all were mismatched brands. I opened up the driver's door and the driver's leather seat had large chucks of leather missing. "No big deal" I thought, seat covers and new tires, but I'm wondering at this point how in the h#ll this guy overlooked this so far, there's not many vehicles for sale on that lot. I start up the vehicle, which woke up the LARGE exhaust leak at the flex joint area underneath the vehicle. And now the "best" part...I look on the tailgate, no indication of it being AWD. I look under the rear end, no CV axles, differential, rear driveshaft, nothing. It was a front wheel drive. By this time he'd made his way back into the office and I confronted him, saying this vehicle is not AWD, and that I essentially wasted 5+ hours of my time, along with all the other obvious issues that he failed to mention. In what seemed like a small fit of fake disbelief, his response, "sorry, bud!" And another thing, I told him on the phone if it's what he's described, I'd give him $5800 for it (it was for sale for $6500), he said he couldn't, he already had $6000 into it. I've been in the auto industry, including car sales, for 20 years. I knew right away that was a BS line. Wholesale pricing on that car was in the $4000 range, average private party value was around $6000. Only had the vehicle advertised for a week at this point, said his guys "went through it" (obviously not, hence the exhaust was super loud and a cheap fix, coming from a 1' piece of flex pipe that could be replaced for $30). But all of the sudden he has all this money tied up in this vehicle. Absolute bullcrap. Buyer beware!

I have been round and round with Sonju's agent Purco services. They have not been cooperative in examining my claim and are now threatening my credit report although I have repeatedly told them that my credit card company is still examining the claim. This was a fraudulent claim by Budget and Purco plain and simple. I will never rent here again and neither should you. Frankly this business is a scam.

We attempted to replace the car by…read morecontacting the Budget Rental center near our destination in Gwinn, Michigan (at Sawyer Intl Airport) on 3 different occasions on Saturday and Sunday, including leaving a voicemail that was never returned. After contacting the corporate help center, it was recommended that we simply visit the Gwinn location. When we arrived, the Budget employee, Daphne, was immediately disrespectful and very briskly informed us that she had no cars available for us to use (with no explanation as to why almost all 14 Budget parking spots were filled). When we attempted to ask for a recommendation for any alternative method, she instead answered the phone and began ignoring us. After finishing her phone call, she went outside without another word, leaving us stunned. When she returned, she expressed surprise and frustration that we were still there and then told us we should have called ahead to see if we could switch out the vehicle. When we told her that was what we did and it was the corporate office who told us to just come by, she said (verbatim) "Well, this isn't corporate. They have no idea what's going on here." Then she said we should've left a message. When we told her we did, she proceeded to tell us that we did not. However, in an attempt to prove us wrong, she began to check the voice mailbox and discovered there was one saved message, likely ours from 24 hours before. We never found out if that message was ours though because she then began ignoring us again and talked through us to help the customer behind us (who also seemed angered by the service). It was then that we left because it was clear we were not going to receive any help or apologies for her behavior. Daphne was incredibly rude, disrespectful, and embarrassing to a paying customer that her employer had (inadvertently) inconvenienced. There is no excuse for Daphne's behavior and she has soured more Budget rentals for us.
