I have to say and the most respectful way possible that Hertz is gone downhill to the highest extent in years, particularly the Hartford Weston Street location. I do not like to downplay any place of business however there are major areas of concern. from reading the reviews that are not being addressed and it's more just like a money grab from dealing within the Uber aspect of this. I will also be following up with a complaint to Uber and it does not stop there because I am writing a lengthy communication which will be sent out to all the higher-ups and BBB I'm not sure how it can go because it only seems like a rotation that you find trying to speak to someone of a higher caliber. so with that being said, this is why I am on yelp. I work within the Uber industry as a part-time job and I am provided services from Hartford only because it's the closest location to me but the manner of how I have been spoken by Keydoe which I've let it slide a lot because you try to give people the benefit of the doubt and try to learn people for who they are, but when it comes to me working and spending my money, my hard earned money. There's a lot of things that need to be taken in a consideration here and I don't think they are especially at this location. I have to say that again. My money is earned not given to me so when I'm investing in a company, which I am investing in Hertz because I pay out of my pocket to rent their vehicles to do my job and to the standards that it should be there's a big area of concern here and when I try to address the concern with one of the representatives I got a tantrum I would say he was more upset at the fact that I was willing to wait and vehicle that they give me service engine light on and other mechanical issues and when I say it had a hole in the floor of the driver side, the rug was completely ripped that was two cars that day that he was trying to give me that we're not up to standard,especially for the price that we were being paid. I've switched my vehicles out three times with the 2nd time being no fault of there's, however the 3rd rental that they tried to give me the was not in a condition to drive on the road so they switched me out into another vehicle which it doesn't appear that the third vehicle was closed out which resulted in Hertz charging my car for two vehicles one that I never even drove off the lot with they switched it out that same day so when it came time to renew, I am being charged for two cars, but I only have one . when I tried to call last week to speak with a manager and I was not addressed and was unable to contact so I went in however, my concerns were weren't taken serious and you get the runaround the vehicles they give you are damaged. They're either not clean properly or is something wrong with it to where they're telling you you need to go and get it repaired or just take the car for the week and bring it back to exchange the following week which I have taken multiple days off of my job to go to Uber to address these concerns and spend hours in the lobby trying to take my concerns up with the representative who will try to fast talk you and talk you into believing what he's saying is right and what you're saying is wrong and then get upset when you don't agree with what it is he wants you to do. I've experienced it firsthand. I have a witness to that to what I have experienced sexual favors being asked l, and as I try to be calm and humble, it took me to another place that I should not have to be with anybody in a place of business. I don't care if I do know you or if I do not know you in a professional world you want to be treated with that, and Hertz Hartford on Weston is everything but that. I have rented vehicles with Hertz for many years and I've always gotten the highest level of appreciation for being a customer. I do not feel appreciated here and I'm really looking into considering going to another state just to rent a vehicle because of the lack of respect carelessness on which how things have been handled I've had to call Hertz many occasions for being overcharged which results to be refunded days later and it keeps happening and now I'm facing being charged for two vehicles when only one is in my possession and the one that they're trying to charge me for I never even took that car so please tell me what is going on with this company and why the manners have changed in which how you deal with people I have multiple people that I could align that has complained on the way the Hartford Hertz is operating and nobody there seems to Care at all. They just take your money and send you on your way. They don't care if you're overcharged they want you to call customer service. They have nothing to do with it but when you call customer service, they're rerouting you back to the location it is a game! read more

Only I can say is Unbelievable service, WORST EVER. Supposed to return the rental on Saturday before noon. I called at 11:12 and Leti put me to wait until 12 o'clock obviously at that point location is close. Call the online service and they put a note on what happened and said they shouldn't charge me for Sunday. Come here now Jason said to me that's not truth and it's nothing that he can do to help. And funny enough no original charges were in but the late "Sunday" fee was charge immediately after talking to them #hertzPLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS GETTO LOCATION #hertzsucks! read more

First of all, I'm gonna give you the old school direction to get here. The "official" address (shown above) is unreadable using GPS and I had to use my streetwise to figure out where this place is. This Hertz location is on the corner of Talcott St. and Columbus Blvd. Look for the yellow and black Hertz sign (look carefully because you will miss it). It's located next to a parking garage. Don't look for "Constitution Plaza" because the city planners probably shot some coke when they plan this city. There are 3 Constitution Plazas in 5 blocks radius. Say what ... ? The service was OK considering we are in Hartford, although we weren't too happy that the car we reserved was unavailable. The guy who works there said that it doesn't matter what you reserve, you show up and pick whatever car that's available. We were being extra smart so we brought our camera to take "Before" pictures of the vehicle before we drive it out of the garage. The guy who works there said since we paid for insurance, we can go ahead and wreck it because the insurance covers it anyways. O.....K. Will definitely come back again (now that we know where it is). TIPS: 1. Try not to rent a car out of the Hartford-Brainard Airport because they charge significantly higher. 2. If you don't have a credit card, they will run a credit check on you when you pay using debit card. Also, they don't accept cash. 3. You can return cars to a different location where you picked it up. read more

I'm renting a vehicle thru the car dealership I bought my car from while it's being worked on so hertz is who is providing the rental. I was so disgusted when they brought the vehicle to me the way they did - there's crumbs/dirt all over the seats and floors, fingerprints and smudges all over the screen, mirrors and windows, dirt and old lettuce inside the cup holders, vents and dash have a layer of dust on them and 2 old cups from fast food restaurants on the floor. I went in and asked for wipes because I wouldn't touch anything in that car without at the very least wiping down the steering wheel, blinkers, radio and anything else you touch when driving. They told me someone would be back to clean it out, which was making me late for an appointment now. They came back with a smaller car which is nothing like the one I was supposed to have and claimed that a "new girl" was to blame for the dirty mess. Then after I get in I realize they just shampoo the seats and put the car thru the wash and did not wipe ANYTHING down inside this car either! What a shame!! Even grocery stores wipe down the cart you use to shop with for a few minutes but a car rental place can't thoroughly clean a vehicle that your driving in for 3 weeks! What is wrong with this company. I am disgusted with this company and I want an SUV like I was promised. If it was up to me I would never go thru this car rental company again!! I'm in total disbelief that this is happening during a world wide pandemic. But it shows you the level of care for the customers- none. read more

In my experience, most rental car companies are pretty much the same in terms of prices, car condition, and the other details that actually matter. Therefore, when deciding what company to use, I end up choosing based on 1- convenience and 2- friendliness/customer service. This location fails on both counts. Their hours are short, and there is no way to drop off a car when they are closed (and they are closed all day Sundays and most of the day Saturday). Customer service is politely uncaring and unwilling to resolve concerns. read more

Horrible horrible horrible!!! I had to go to the airport to drop someone off and needed a bigger car just for the day. So I go to the website and look at the options. Before I could look at the available cars at the location, I saw that this particular location was closed on Sunday ( I needed the car only on Saturday) and I planned on returning it back on Sunday. Since the location was showing closed, I decide to call the location and ask them if they had some kind of 'key drop off'. So this guy picks up and I explain the situation and he tells me that there isnt any such 'key drop off' available. Well, fair enough no problem. I was almost about to say 'okay thank you' and continue with the reservation online. But this guy starts talking and asking when and for how many days I needed the car for. I decided to keep the car for Sunday and return it on Monday. Anyway, so I tell him all that and then he asks me which car do I want. I told him that I needed a little bigger car since I needed to put some luggage in the trunk and he tells me they have a Camry in full size. That was fine for me since its a full size and then he asked what time I wanna come in to get it. I said on Saturday morning at 10:30 and the guy says okay cya at 10:30 tomorrow and the conversation ends. Any normal human being would think that the reservation has been made after providing all the detailed information. Come next day, I was running on a tight schedule. We had a long 2 hr drive in front of us to the airport. So I head to the hertz location in anticipation to quickly pick up the vehicle. Now here's where the fun starts- 1. There is only 1 guy at the counter..Just ONE guy and 3 customers ahead of us. 2. Now Although he was polite and kind, after serving about 2 customers and almost after about 1/2 hr waiting, asks me my last name. I give him my last name and he tells me he cant find any reservation in the system? 3. After about 5 more minutes, he gets help with another guy joining him at the counter. He tells me 'Sir we dont have anything available right now'. We only have a Chevy cruze available which is a mid sized car. Great! I have a mid size car myself and why would I want to rent a mid sized car then? 4. At this point I was totally frustrated and I take My CC and License and walk out of the place. Reservation here is a joke! No point in reserving a car if you cannot provide the customers with what they need. Not sure if it makes a difference but you just lost $120 and a customer who rented twice from you before because reservations mean nothing to you. read more

Other than finding the place, as the address listed brought me to The Hartford Steam Boiler building, I had a really positive experience here. Since I work downtown this was super convenient for me as my car was hit and couldn't drive it anymore, all I had to do was walk there to pick it up (I realize this is rather subjective statement). I worked with my insurance to make the reservation and Hertz contacted me right away. The night before they called me to confirm and asked if I needed to be picked up and brought to their location which I think is a nice touch. The location is really nice inside, super clean and modern decor. I rarely post reviews, but I was not in the greatest of moods given my current situation with my car when I visited here, and my day was brightened because their customer service was fantastic. For that, they deserve more stars. I worked with Jason over the phone who was very friendly and Joe worked with me in person to get me all set up in my rental car. I couldn't decided whether or not I wanted to go with the insurance and ended up getting it in the end, which made more work for Joe but he was extremely polite. This was a rather busy time as there were a lot of people and both Joe and Jason kept their cools and were pleasant to all the customers. Thanks for exceeding my expectations, keep it up! read more
