Rented a car from this location that I paid in full prior to picking up. Upon arriving, they were not able to provide the car and proceeded to try scheme after scheme to find a way to get me to lose my payment to them instead of simply refunding me or giving me a different vehicle. Tim Cooney made several threats to me and Edwin Castelan was also a nightmare to deal with. All because they didn't want to admit the mistake they had made in double booking a vehicle! read more

This must certainly be the worst location in Hertz's network. I often rent one way from airport to home , dropping cars off here. If there is a surcharge they can sneak in, they will try. I give them gas receipts. Guess what shows up on the bill? Fuel surcharge. This time they charged me the extra fee for having plate pass in the car--almost every airport car does--first time I've been charged that AND there are no tolls between the airport and home. Bad enough: has taken HOURS to resolve and become a quest because Hertz can't fix it, plate pass has to! Picking cars up here, they are often dirty or poorly maintained. And good luck getting them to pick up the phone during business hours. Just don't. read more

When it comes to the customer service from these three guys phenomenal. Branch Manager Tim Cooney, Edwin Castelan, and Tyshawn Grant. Tyshawn took care of me my 1st day I've rented a car from Hertz and when I had some billing issues Tim did all he could on his end even sending emails out to try and figure out why I was being charged twice a week. They day I came in for a billing issue I've witnessed Edwin handle a pissed customer also dealing with billing issues and kept the situation at ease and did what he could to provide answers the customer needed at that time. The only problem I do have is not with these three gentleman it's the billing department that they have no control of when it comes to renting cars for Uber. Hertz please I would advise you to look into this ASAP. These guys already deal with a lot to have to be trying to resolve a problem that the billing department needs to fix. read more

This business is the most horrific rental experience of my life. The only positive thing I can say is that the girl who was working in the Morristown office was very nice, polite and patient and my issue has nothing to do with her but with Hertz and their policies as it was my first Hertz experience. I've rented cars for 20 years of business travel and never in my life experienced a scam like this. First, they have no parking and due to area construction you should plan to circle the block 4-5 times to find a parking space. Next, what they don't tell you when you book the rental is that any additional driver, including your spouse that you live with as shown on both your drivers licenses, will cost an additional $13.50/per day per driver. It's something you'd have to read in fine print as it was never mentioned when you call to make the reservation. read more

If I could give them no STAR I would. I reserved a car yesterday at the 901 W SUNRISE BLVD, FL location. When I got to the location to pick up the car, I was told by the agent that sits in the front at the right with the DREADS, that there was no midsize vehicle available and that there would be none available for a while, but I could get an SUV vehicle at a HIGHER RATE. When I looked in the lot there were more than 10 midsize vehicles there, it was after 3 PM, and this location CLOSES at 5 PM. I called the customer service and was told that in fact, they were midsize vehicles available at the above location. The customer service representative asked to speak with the agent. He was told that there were no available, and the agent then told me to come back later. Now he change what he told me when I first got there. The customer service representative told me that he saw in his systems that they were vehicles available, but he guess that he was wrong. I requested to speak to a supervisor, and he came I told him my issue and he also checked his system and told me that there were vehicles available so he would call the location to see why they did not want to rent it to me, I was put on hold. After waiting on hold for almost 5 minutes, the supervisor came back and told me that he too was wrong. I asked him if they were midsize vehicles available? He started to beat around the bush and changed what he had previously told me. I asked the question once more about the availability of the midsize vehicle, he then told me to go back at 4:30 PM and the agent might rent it to me and he did not know why the agent was giving me a difficult time in renting the midsize vehicle that I had reserved. All this was that the agent was trying to UP SALE me. THIS TYPE OF ACTION IS UNACCEPTABLE, I WILL NEVER RENT FROM THIS COMPANY AGAIN!!! read more

The actual location isn't terrible, the employees are okay and helpful. The garage where the cars are kept is a little sketchy and could use more lighting. Hertz as a company could use an overhaul. They charged my card $100 randomly, which I blocked because I returned the car on time and in good condition so there was no reason for this extra fee. Then, I saw that they refunded the entire cost of the rental and deposit ($120 rental fee, $200 deposit, $320 total) I knew that was an error, so I called to correct it and pay for the rental. The agent on the phone was very unhelpful and said that it was not a mistake and I will not be charged again. "The $320 is your deposit being refunded." were her words. I asked her to make a note of that on my account if she is so certain that I was going to basically get a free rental. To which she nastily replied "I don't need to because it reflects on your account already." Fast forward 2 weeks, they charge my card for the cost of the rental, $120. Thankfully I had a feeling this would happen so I was prepared and willing to pay for the rental like I was trying to do before when I called customer service... So just be careful with this company and document everything. read more

I recently booked with Hertz ahead of time for a trip to Cancun since I had a very tight timeline and wanted to use a trusted company. Upping arrival, I let the service rep know I was on a tight timeline and they used this to take advantage, making my insurance options exorbitant compared to normal. I was left with little choice and they knew it, making it predatory. Insurance is mandatory in Mexico. I contacted Hertz and they continually pushed the blame to the company in Cancun even though it's using their name under licensing. I asked for one of two things: a partial refund (roughly 2/3 of what was overpaid, not the entire amount, so as to own my part) or a free rental on my upcoming trip that was roughly the same price. This equated to about $200 of the $600 total paid for a six day Chevy Cruze rental. Instead, they doubled down on "can't do anything" and offered me $50 credit towards a future rental. I will no longer rent through Hertz, Dollar nor Thrifty. read more

Company policy during COVID is apparently to send a Lyft to bring you to their location rather than delivering a vehicle directly you to you. This is because they shrunk the staff size at every location in the area. This means exposing yourself, a Lyft driver, and the office staff at this location to possible infection. After pointing this out to Tim, the manager, he went out of his way to get a car delivered to us promptly. He did this while maintaining and exemplifying excellent customer service. read more

Booked a rental at this location a week in advance. Called and confirmed the rental. Upon arrival there was no car. I called the office and was told they don't have any vehicles. No other explanation and nothing about getting me one. Thank goodness Go Rentals we're located at same location. The helped me get a car. Called Hertz's 800 number and got zero help. My insurance is State Farm. After an accident that totaled my car, Hertz was the referred rental place to get a rental by the claim department of Hertz. After this company being around for such a long time I found the experience to be not the best. I sent a Lyft to use by the company which was surprising to me being that they did not have any one to pick me up. It had taken the driver a while to find the Hertz which was inside the dealer ship of volks wagon. How was the driver to know this or me as a consumer. Got the rental to find out a couple of days later the battery to the car key was low after 3 days, car not clean and dusty inside. The employees were gracious to help me out, but my concern is how can Hertz make it better for those who work for Hertz who are either working alone or don't have the assistance needed to serve the public. I made a reservation with Hertz when my own car broke down and I was dealing with daily doctor's visits. I was told the car would be coming from Powder Mill Towing in Parsippany I when I made the reservation I specifically requested that they pick me up and drop me off and they agreed. They told me I just needed to call one hour ahead to confirm that someone was coming At the time of the reservation I requested that I be picked up between 8:15 and 8:30 in the morning. When it came time to be picked up I called at 7:20 am to confirm that someone was coming to get me. I was told that no one is in the office until 8 and I would have to wait until then to call I called at 8 and they didn't know anything about my pickup so I was extremely upset. I made it clear that I needed a car as soon as possible due to my daily doctors appointments. They finally sent an Uber to pick me up and bring me to Powder Mill Towing. I got the rental car and went on my way Two days later the car bucked a little and the check engine light came on. I called Powder Mill and let them know that I needed a reliable car and wanted to exchange it. They told me that they did not have a car available but they would check around. They called me back shortly after to say that their sister location in Morristown had a car available for me and I should go there to pick it up I went to the Morristown location which is in headquarters Plaza. The Hertz parking is on the third level. If you're familiar with that location in Morristown you know that the parking garage has a reputation for being unsafe. There are robberies there and many homeless people stay there to get out of the weather. There are no security cameras or any other safety features visible in that area. I went up the elevator into the building and there was a sign that said that the Hertz office is in the North Tower but there were no signs indicating where the North Tower was. I finally found some women walking through the building who look like they work there and they directed me. I found the North Tower and after further help from the security guard there I found the Hertz office. The entrance inside the building looks like you're going into someone's basement. It did not look like an office at all but after going around a couple bins in the cement hallway I found the office I went to the counter and told them that someone from Powder Mill Towing had called to reserve a replacement car for me. The person I spoke with said he didn't know anything about it and that they did not have any cars available at all. I told him I need a car so after a long discussion he called around to other Hertz locations He called three supposedly nearby locations. He said the Hertz offices in Augusta and Fairfield did not have any cars available however they had some down by Newark Airport. My schedule did not allow me time to drive all the way to Newark and I told him that. I requested that they have someone bring a car up from Newark and I would be back to pick it up later however they refused to do that. The Hertz agent finally told me that I would just have to deal with a car that I had and that he simply couldn't do anything. He said it with an attitude as if I was just there to annoy him. I said to him that I expect that if the car breaks down they will come and get me with a replacement car. He asked me if I had paid for their roadside assistance package and I said no. He said well if the car breaks down it's your problem to get it towed. Needless to say I was pretty pissed at that but figured I had to be somewhere and I would deal with that when the time came so I left in disgust Fortunately the car kept running for the final three days of my rental period. When it came time to return the car I called Powder Mill Towing to confirm that someone would be available to bring me home after I dropped off the car. They asked me if my rental was through an insurance claim and I said no. He then told me that they refuse to drive me home unless it's an insurance claim. I argued with him because I had made this specific request when I made the reservation but he was adamant that they would not drive me home Because I rented the car first thing in the morning at 8:30 a.m. I had to return the car by that time. I had to have someone get up early drive a half hour to my house and then 20 minutes down to Powder Mill Towing to return the car. Then they had to drive me back home. It was a big inconvenience If you are considering renting from Hertz don't go anywhere near Powder Mill or Morristown locations. They are owned by the same person who obviously cares nothing about customer service read more

After using Hertz in Morristown a number of times I was fortunate enough to have a young man named Josh assist my rental.For the first time it was explained to me the benefit of the insurance (which I never purchased before) as well as my options for refueling which this time prepaying it saved me quite a bit of money..After signing the contract Josh delivered me the car and did a walk around but went one step further by explaining the accessories on the car as well as local eateries that he though I might enjoy. Previously I have rented from the airport and was given substandard cars where as this vehicle I received was fairly new with low mileage and spotless. All said and done I was in and on my way in 15 minutes without a hitch vs. going though a 40 minute process at the airport.I'd rather UBER here than rent at Newark Airport .Thank You Josh and staff you've got a committed customer read more

Car sat outside until Saturday when I had to come back to nj to drive it to the office for them to pick it up. Rude staff not focused on customer service. My life was turned upside down after Hurricane Sandy and i had to rent a car because mine was totaled. I used to love Hertz until I tried returning my rental car here at 5:50 PM, 10 minutes before they closed. Instead 2 employees argued with me until 6:15 PM and hung up on my wife who called them in advance of my arrival to let them know I was coming. It was laughable. I returned the car at another Hertz location the next day and it took less then 5 mins. Do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere. read more

i've been renting here almost 40 weeks a year for the last 3 years. in a nutshell, this location is fantastic. From day 1 at hertz the service was incredible. i know what service means because i was renting at both Avis and Dollar in Morristown, and they don't even begin to compare. hertz's service is quick and easy. a typical rental for me, consists of reserving a reservation online, when i arrive at the hertz counter, i receive a warm greeting from the Agent behind the counter, whether it be the past manager Robert C Schenk, the current managers, Jason or Carrol, or one of the 2 mike's there's always a cheerful greeting. i never wait in line because my contract is pre-printed with my keys and a ticket to take the car out of the parking lot. it takes under 30 seconds. literally. on return, i simply fill out the mileage and gas level of my car and drop my keys in the drop box i drop it off by night when they are closed or walk in and give them the contract and keys by day. i could literally take a video of me doing this process. it's so simple and quick, i think this should literally be a model for all hertz local editions. I've been around ALOT and this level of professional service is incomparable. During hurricane sandy these guys had to deal with an incredibly difficult situation there was a HUGE shortage of cars in Newark where they get their cars from, and it was literally impossible for them to get cars, nevertheless, i had reservations booked in advance and Jason and Carrol made great efforts to not just get me my car, but gave me an upgrade to a nice car too. it was a very hard time for them, they had people calling in 24/7 asking to make a reservation, and they simply had no cars. you couldn't book one online but that didn't stop people lining up at their store and spamming their phone lines for cars. unfortunately they couldn't make everyone happy. but personally i think it's selfish to write a bad review about a company based on their experience during a hurricane. it's not like they magically were'nt affected 3 of the workers had no electricity during hurricane sandy and thankfully hertz did so they were able to work. i suggest if you rent in Morristown that you stop by hertz in headquarters plaza and see what real service and great prices is EVERY DAY OF EVERY YEAR. i could go on for a lot longer, i am deeply grateful to the hertz crew at Morristown, they are by far the greatest hertz employee's I've ever encountered. a great team that offers a great and unparalleled service. I have been STUCK with a F.O.R.D. (Found On Road Dead / Fix Or Repair Daily) for nearly 2 weeks. I had asked for a Toyota RAV4 for MULTIPLE reasons which they were ALL aware! 1 came in LAST WEEK & they gave it away. I can not get in touch with them because they do not have an answering machine to BE SURE they swap out my vehicle. Since I have been doing ALL THE WORK calling in every day, I expect THEM to swap them out. I am unable to leave an "after-hours" message... are they avoiding me? The people who didi answer were BEYOND RUDE. The workers are VERY NICE (John & Darnell), the others do not know what they are doing. Allen let the RAV4 leave a week ago KNOWING I wanted it. I actually came to this location due to a negative experience in another Hertz(pun?). The District Manager was very calm and professional, and laid out all of their optional services and rental protocols. There was another employee there--I can't recall the name, sorry--who was also very helpful and friendly. I felt informed and at ease with the smoothness of the process.
