6 months ago I made a reservation for a van in St. peters. Upon calling, 2 days before the reservation, I was informed that they did not have a van and would give us a 7 passenger suv. NOT what we wanted at all. When I asked if they could transfer one from O'fallon location, they said they would try to get one but they had another reservation for a van the day before (thus unlikely). I called O'fallon and spoke with a very friendly lady representative who gladly rented their van and cancelled the St. Peters reservation since it was over 24 hours in advance. I called them before going to pick my car. They didn't even talked properly later i went to pick my car and they are very arrogant and the lady is very rude to the customers and not even looking at the names to give the car and giving the wrong car and very frustrated to her behaviour. read more

Horrible service . Anita was checking people in and assigning cars. She had a very difficult personality. She asked my name and typed it in to tell me I had no reservation. I showed her my reservation on my phone at which time she ordered me to read it to her. She was angry that I had a reservation after she loudly proclaimed I had no reservation in front of a line of people. She then charged me an additional 200.00 with no explanation why. Keep in mind I paid for my reservation in May . I would not recommend. Additionally the car they gave me air conditioner did not work. Brad called at 9:00 am, the morning of the day I was to pick up a rental car at 3:00pm telling me they don't have any cars available. I ask can I get a car within 24hours once again he stated "we don't have any cars at all. He said he had a wait list he could add my name too. I have a reservation!!!! And he never called, glad I didn't wait for that disappointment too. I called other hertz locations and none had any cars available at all. Helpful text on arrival specifying my car and space in which it was parked - bus dropped us off right at the space. Very cordial staff both at arrival and drop off. Our car was clean and well maintained. I would only point out at drop off, one staffer was armed with an iPad and the other with the older "gun & holster" equipment; the iPad was so slow that the staffer called over her co-worker with the "gun & holster" who very promptly checked us out, and sent us on our way (fortunately both staffers were available or we would've been waiting a long time for that iPad to respond ... it would appear that someone in the "office" with a great new tech idea didn't bother to adequately test its use in the "field"). read more

I rented car from St Louis Lambert airport. The staff was very courteous when they picked me up and dropped off when I came back. St Louis Hertz has a little different pickup procedure for gold members. They drop you off at a certain location where the cars are all ready. You just see the Parking spot number on the board with your name and there you go. You don't have to ask anyone or talk to anyone. One attendant on the gate checks ID and hands the papers to you. I would have appreciated if I was emailed the procedure beforehand (or some instructions in the car) for people like me who are not familiar with hows and where's. I kept looking for people before I took the car out. I had no idea it was that easy :) now I wish all locations had this facility. But overall experience was good. No complains with the car too. Been a presidential and 5 star member at Hertz for 10 years. Was extremely disappointed with recent rental return. Had 7 employees standing around, but no one was willing or able to help with a simple issue involving the return. Took 15 minutes to find out no one was willing to use my own rental to drop me and my kids off at our hotel across the freeway less than 2 miles away. It wasn't just the lack of support, but the whole disinterest in listening and valuing a customer regardless of status. STL Hertz needs a cultural adjustment to meet the level of service I've had at competitors in the area and other Hertz locations. Was a very frustrating experience and despite doing my best to provide feedback and get the issue fixed with nearly an hour with customer service, in the end they just disconnected and gave up. Great service and I've always had very nice, clean vehicles. The only issue I would mention is with the shuffle service back to the airport. Each time I've rented through you the shuttle goes to both terminals and the van was extremely packed. Yesterday there were so many suitcases that people couldn't stand in half of the van. In addition, drop off/pickup was a nightmare due to all the luggage, people and terminal traffic. Please consider having separate vans per terminal. read more

Arrived at store and explained that we had had to drive from Edwardsville where our rental had been confirmed at a store that would not be opening for business until June 22, we were told by Kristen, the manager, that that was an HQ mistake and not her fault. Then, they tried to upcharge us for something, and when I asked to talk to Kristen, she was, and I quote, "too busy to talk to customers." Wow.... Car was great. Return went great. Came in on a reservation from insurance company. Branch manager Deborah Berg was thee most unprofessional and disrespectful individual I've ever encountered. She had a bad attitude along with her build, the second I walked in, you can sense it a mile away. Because I grew irritated with Gieco (DON'T EVER DO BUSINESS WITH) she began to act very nasty towards me. I shut her down, she didn't like it and threatened to void out my rental, minutes later she shredded my paperwork for the rental. Prior to this, I was picked up at the body shop off Highway 94...she told me to "get out of her store!" in the presence of a customer. She threatened to call the police and said she was calling me a lyft. I was embarrassed and humiliated. After a huge confrontation, she finally asked her other employee to check me out. During all of her threats, I called authorities for a stand by because one more threat from her and I would've lost it on her. This was one of the worst experiences of all times! That evening I attempted to report her to the area manager Ben Lavery at 636.439.9072. I left him a brief voice-mail, to no avail nor surprise, he never returned my call. I love Hertz at Lambert Airport. The service is always friendly, even if you're not getting what you want. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure courteous customer service. For the past two years I have been a monthly renter, so I am always there hopping out of one vehicle and into another. I've haven't had a problem yet. There is great potential for having issues with their corporate office or HQ (wherever the 800 # leads), but I've only ever had to call them for reasonable accommodations that could not be resolved at the location. Otherwise, Hertz is great and they are the only rental car company I will ever do business with. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service. Had a reservation for two month prior, hertz failed to pick me up or have my vehicle ready. Had to take a beater for a rental and go to the airport to exchange. I will never rent from that location again. Waited for shuttle at St Louis airport for a long time , got to offsite location off the highway access road - wanted to trade up - took a few minutes but got it done relatively painlessly , inside of windshield dirty ( few rental car companies know how to clean the inside of a windshield) - car was fine - drop off was hard to find- overal experience OK read more

Service was amazing. Quick and the location was great. Right next to the airport. The only bad thing was that their selection was quite limited but that was probably due to the holidays. Car was clean and there was enough room for our family of 5 plus ALOT of luggage. Its was cozy but it worked. We stayed at the Hilton the night before our flight back which was literally right next door to Hertz. My husband dropped off the car and walked to the hotel. Once again, Hertz did not let us down. 1st time renting here. When I walked in the lobby was empty with no one to greet me. I was 10 minutes early for a noon reservation. After a 5 minute wait someone came out from the back and asked if they could help me. I said I was there to pick up a rental at noon. She replied that I would have to wait until noon because the rate did not start until then. She quickly recanted after seeing that it was for 1 week. The car had not been filled with fuel or washed yet and I was told I would have to wait. I type this while sitting in the lobby waiting. read more

Pretty poor. Rented from here a few times. Gold service was adequate -- car was waiting in the slot emailed to me. However two of the last three rentals had issues... 1. Car assigned to me smelled of vomit and and ground in dirt that had not been cleaned. I booked "intermediate" so was allowed to pick from gold choice. I picked out a car from gold choice and when exiting I was asked "So you wanna upgrade to this?". The car was clearly in the gold choice section and not the upgrade section with no additional cost marked. The woman then was muttering "Well, they know they can't put no full-size in Gold Choice. You gotta book a full size to get full size". Anyhow, after some wasted time and an offer to go get something else even though it was their mistake parking the wrong car in Gold Choice I was allowed to keep the Impala. 2. Booked a "Hybrid- Prius or Equivalent . Seats 5 adults, 2 large suitcases and 1 small suitcase. The regular Prius is pictured. The vehicle was actually a Prius C which is a tiny Yaris with a hybrid powertrain. It certainly cannot hold 2 large and 1 small suitcases (actually barely held 2 small) and barely fit 2 adults and 2 children. Also the car did not have a current license plate sticker and I was actually pulled over by the police for this. They let me go with a citation as it was a rental. When I mentioned this there was simply a "Oops. Sorry about that". read more

When I arrived there wasn't anyone at the gold booth. My vehicle wasn't ready and when I finally was issued one it wasn't the class I had reserved. Had to "upgrade" to get the room I needed for my gear. When I returned I had an issue I needed to discuss at the counter and the attendant tried to bully me by threatening to call the manager. When I asked her to do so she made a call to someone then rudely took care of my problem. Extremely unprofessional facility. read more

As a Gold member I have been accustomed to good customer service and a decent car of my choosing. Upon arrival, my name was not listed on the Gold Board. So I went to stand in line to find out about my rental. The guy working the desk, didn't greet me or make eye contact. He just looked at his computer and said stall 125. That was it. No, have a good day or thanks for renting with Hertz. This rental did not live up to past experiences. The car was dirty, used tissues in the console, sticky tape or paste from a recent sticker. it looked like the car just arrived from an auction or something. When I dropped the car on Sunday evening at 5:30 pm, the lot was packed with cars, almost to the road. There was only one guy working. We have rented from Hertz for the last nine years. We have always been very satisfied. Our rental on 5/11/2016 at St. Louis airport was not the case. We have always gotten help with our luggage as we boarded and deboarded the Hertz bus. This time we were told by the driver that they did not help you with luggage. They were only there to "assist". Basically all she did was drive the bus. When we returned the car on 5/16/2016 to St. Louis airport Hertz the drive was very friendly and helpful. The only thing was that she took us to the arrival gate instead of the departure gate. It doesn't sound like much but when you are lugging bags and looking for ways to get to the departure area it is kind of frustrating. Not sure we will be using Hertz in the future. My review is not due to the quality of the vehicle I received it is due to the poor and complete lack of communication with the attendant. When I picked up the car they were so grossly understaffed (as in 1 person) to attend to me and the 4 other people behind me. I told the young man that I would be returning the next day to add my husband to the car so he could drive it as well nothing stated to me at that point which is where the communication begins or lack there of. I came back the next day in a complete down pour of rain no place to park in front of the building we are on our way out of town at this point. My husband proceeded in to add himself and he calls me from inside and said that I had to be present so I had to double park the vehicle behind other vehicles praying that no one from the businesses around would need to leave. I am drenched from head to toe, I get in there to sign the paper and she informs at this time that there will be a $13.50 a day charge to add my husband, ummmm no I was never told that at any point or when I received the car 24 hours prior I would not have gotten off the beaten path to add another 45 minutes to my vacation. Now not only am I upset she starts telling me her story which truly I do not care she had a swollen face and had to leave the poor young man unattened the prior day. Lady I am soaked from the top of my head to the bottom of my feet which could have been completely avoided with COMMUNICATION. I now have to go back outside after I refused their fees to start my trip and my husband and I have no where to go to change clothes car is packed and drive drenched for 7 hours. I will not be using Hertz in the future. Please check on your staffing from time to time they may need help or better MANAGEMENT BECAUSE SHE WAS TERRIBLE. My recent experience at the St. Louis Airport Hertz was extremely positive. The night I arrived, my shuttle driver was chatty & helpful in getting me to the main office. The renovations are amazing - last year these poor people were in a depressing trailer - you could sense the low morale. Be very careful if you were traveling somewhere with toll roads, especially electronic tolls or cashless tolls. The manager at this location gave us the wrong information about how we could pay the bill for a cashless toll we drove through. She told us not to worry about it. When we were charged a $24.75 fee for a toll that cost $1.10, she said, "I never said that" and said there was nothing she could do. read more
