The employee at the Hertz counter was very rude. We reserved a rogue going through Delta and they tried to give us some beat up Kia. Not only that, they add $200 to your charge until you bring the car back and they review it for damage. Here's the caveat, the car they tried to give us and the Rogue they finally gave us (the lot was full of Rogues by the way but she told me there weren't any) are damaged with door dings, paint chipped off etc etc which I find hilarious. We needed the car for an extra day, they told us it would be $54, yeppers it was $88. After this trip I remembered why I stopped using Hertz... The good thing is the lot is across the from the airport so it is easy access, all of the car rental spots were there. No buses from the lots to the airport. They should be honest and tell the truth and have nicer employees who understand the traveling woes, we had a terrible day with Delta and then the nasty attitude was uncalled for. read more

For the second Hertz rental in a row(rented at the Tampa airport), we had an air leak in one of our tires. We took the car up to this Hertz rental, at the Sarasota airport. It was a pretty fast leak. We tried to add air at a gas station first. After I explained the problem at the Hertz counter, the woman there immediately went to get a set of keys for another car. She apologized for our inconvenience. Except for having to make this trip to the Sarasota airport for two Hertz rentals in a row, the exchange for the exact same problem, was a very easily solved problem. Thank you to the agent at the Hertz return kiosk at the Sarasota airport. I hope the charge is correct when it is processed after the car is returned. I came in 2 hr earlier to pick up my rental because google showed it opened at the wrong time. I had to pay an extra fee for coming earlier. Rental was comfortable and nice and decided to see if I could keep it overnight without a charge since the return time was in the evening. The reservation allowed me to check if there's any charges and it showed there's no charge to keep it until the morning. After a confirmation of no extra charge I was charged another day! I emailed them with the confirmation email and no response. I rather drive further elsewhere because this was the worse experience. read more

I rented a vehicle on October 17 to be returned on October 22. I returned the vehicle at 10 AM. It wasn't supposed to be there till 12 and I filled it up with gas so I didn't get the extra charge today is November 3 I had to call this morning to corporate office to get the rental cleared out of my name. Took 12 days to get my receipt. Do not leave without your receipt. You will be sorry. These guys drive these vehicles for lunch every day or wherever they want to go so if it's still in your name, you would be responsible for any damage they put on it. I wish I could give a 0 rating. What a joke of a company. On vacation with my son and our car began having electrical issues. The only way to talk to a person is with emergency roadside assistance which is less than helpful. We had to jump the car then drI've 40 mins to get a new one and 40 mins back, ultimately losing more than half of a day of our vacation. If you use them, hope to god that no issues arise, as they literally have no customer service to help you. Everyone should do themselves a favor and rent from someone else. read more

I booked a car for 7 days via Expedia. Was charged $253 for the 7 days with a note that an additional $115.67 would be due at pick-up. Upon picking up the car, I was charged twice for the rental, and additional $300 for basic Insurance (which I didn't want, but wasn't given a choice) plus a $200 security deposit? In total, I paid over $1000 for a rental that should have been less than $400. I can't get ahold of any agents or responses to my emails to resolve this issue. Terrible customer service. Came here yesterday and had a horrible experience with whom i was dealing with, and multiple phone calls to hertz resulted in employees on the phone screaming at me , and demanding money from us and had to come back the next day to pick up the car. Came back the next day to pick up the vehicle and Ed Miranda was an absolute angel, the best ever and apologized on their behalf and got everything sorted out for us despite every other employees telling us it was not possible. Hertz gave us a run down 2021 (how is that possible in 2022) Subaru Legacy with bald tires and low pressure (I had no idea at the time). There were stains all over the vehicle and the paint was peeling. I'm guessing because we weren't returning it to the same airport, they gave us the worst vehicle on the lot. There was no one around in the lot to exchange and I couldn't go back into the airport with two littles so I sucked it up and left. Sure enough, we got a flat tire on day 4. I had to replace the tire (per Hertz). When I returned it to Tampa Airport Hertz, they were wonderful. They guessed that's where the vehicle came from. Apparently, it is common. Later, when I looked at my bill, I noticed that I had been charged for fuel and service even though I had returned the car with a full tank. I'm a longtime Hertz Gold member. My experience at the Sarasota Airport location was a total goat rope. My wife and I arrived at the baggage area but did not see the usual sign directing Gold customers to the lot. Neither was there a sign directing them to check at the counter. After verifying on the Hertz app that they have Gold service here, we went to the lot only to be told that we needed to return to the counter. Back inside the terminal, we were ignored in the Gold line while several regular customers without reservations were served. When finally served, the agent printing my contract only to discover he didn't have the key to the Taurus car assigned. Instead he directed us back to the lot and wrote #147 on the envelope. We went back to the lot to find stall 147 containing a Toyota. Problem: stall 147 was marked Budget, not a Hertz. We asked the attendant and were told that Budget was owned by Hertz. He then watched us load our luggage into the Toyota. We got in the car to find there were no keys. Back to the attendant who told us the Toyota was not our car - it was just returned and our car was being cleaned. By now we had been waiting for 45 minutes. Still no Taurus. The lot attendant told us that we should go back to the Terminal to complain. My wife did so and was told the car would be there in a couple of minutes. After 15 minutes, I went to the National counter in five minutes had a National contract and keys. Just then my wife called to tell me our car had been on the lot, but no one told us where to find it. We left in the National car. read more

Hertz and it's affiliates are the worst and try to overcharge at any expense. I rented a car (managers special- which was the cheapest smallest Ford) and I extended the rental for a week through Hertz website. They are trying to over charge me for no reason, with rates I did not agree to, and rates that are from no where. I have the hertz contract stating that I will be charged around $500 extra for the extension. Instead they are trying to over charge me by like $600. They even tried to claim that I didn't return the car on time, even though I personally checked out at the counter. But I eventually had that issue corrected. I've spent over 10 hours trying to fix these issues and they are still incorrect in billing. Avoid hertz and all of their affiliates like Thrifty and Dollar. They are the worst in customer service, and as a company! Just check their better business bureau ratings and other ratings online! Rented a car from Hertz at Sarasota/SRQ for three days. Returned it on time, with full gas/clean. Hopped on a plane back to Pittsburgh. A while later, got an additional invoice from Hertz for 6 additional days of rental, gas charges, and cleaning charges (for someone using that car on our credit card!). Are we going to get more charges for traffic tickets, etc for that car while we were back home in Pittsburgh. Taking forever, big runaround from Hertz trying to square this. Terrible customer service. Hardly anyone working at the counter. Shawn Frisby, who addressed himself as both the general manager and regional manager was very kurt and short with me. It was not appreciated. I called dollar in advance to let them know there was no one working at their counter and they assured me twice that I could check in via Hertz. The general manager tried to get me to go back and wait in line again at the dollar counter who came up 20-30 minutes after I had already standing in line. Not enough people working. It's impossible to pick up your rental car. And I didn't appreciate the rudeness of the genera manager. He was short with me and wouldn't even make eye contact with me. Unprofessional. read more

He quickly pulled up my reservation and gave me my car keys. This experience was hassle free. I was very impressed with Joe's customer service. Everything else during the duration of my stay was great. I greatly appreciate the dedication exhibited by Joe and the Hertz team during my visit to Sarasota, FL. The "customer service" at the counter was rude right out of the gate, setting their par for the terrible Hertz course. The counter person pointed at the small line repeating (yelling) GOLD CLASS!?! Next, my family and I walk out to wait in a parking lot for a MAXIMA that has recently sideswiped a guardrail. A "minor" thing to most but this was not the cheapest rental they offered, I hope for MUCH more. THEN. The passively floating through (manager?) employee gave me the first of FIVE child seats that were either incomplete, incomplete or worse, RIGGED! She then says that this is what Hertz gets for the manager not caring, a seemingly common theme here. SHAME ON YOU, HERTZ, you tried to compromise the safety of my child in your vehicle and keep employees who make a clear statement by bad mouthing the company and following up with not caring. We picked up a car to drive to Miami. OK, no problem so far. Drop off location : Eden Roc hotel (downtown Miami). OK, no problem so far. Pull into the Eden Roc: "Sorry sir, this is only a Hertz drop off location for HOTEL GUESTS. Try the place 5 blocks away." Pull into the Hertz place 5 blocks away: had closed at 12 noon. It was 4:12 PM at this point. Thankfully Hertz did us this HUGE FAVOR and let us drop out car off at the Miami International airport. This was only 2 hours of vacation time out of my way, and then WE had to pay for a cab back to downtown (our original destination, $40 *POOF*). Thank you so much Hertz (intense sarcasm) .
