They're a great way to get around the Key. Free rides are great but they all rely on tips to continue. Be generous if the service is good.

So I said that when the opportunity presents itself, I'd be calling for a ride because I had heard that the weekend was the time not to try to get around because the beaches are busy. So here we are yesterday, Sunday, and I've got to get to a restaurant in downtown beachdum before the close at 2:30p. I call at 1p to ask about how long before the "gentleman" can arrive at my resort, and was told about 20-25 min. OK -- it would be tight for a leisurely lunch, but I asked him to come and get us. We sat and waited and about 20 min. pass when I get a call on my phone and I say, "Are you out front?" He says, "Uh, I'm going to be about another 30 min because I'm stuck on the other side of the draw bridge and can't get there!" Well, now that means we won't even get to the restaurant until about 2p and will have to stuff lunch down, so I tell him that we're trying to get to a place before they close, and I appreciate his effort, but we've got to go and we'll just drive, so no thank you. We jump in our truck and start on our way when I receive a text from him that goes something like this: I don't know where you're from, Miss but around here we treat people with respect. I'm going to block your number so don't bother calling for another ride cause I'm blocking you! I couldn't believe it! I was not rude, I just couldn't wait any longer! Against my better judgement, I responded to his text saying, Go right ahead and block me because I'm blocking YOU! Where I come from, when people are counting on my business to be on time, we are on time! I will not only never call for a ride from you again, but I'm going to let EVERYONE on Yelp know about you as well! He had to get the last word before I actually blocked him and said, "I hope your lunch was worth the trouble." (whatever that meant) So, that is what I'm trying to warn you about. There are several taxi services here on Siesta Key, and I strongly recommend you call someone other than Surf Side Free Ride. You probably won't get a ride, but will get a nasty text for your wait time "trouble!" This guy was beyond rude.

We loaded our tailgate items and 11 people, we had a total of 20 people in our group and were headed to pick up the others! Immediately we all are roasting, we're like ok give the air a second. Sitting knee to knee with 11 people (not the 20 we were promised would fit), sweating like crazy we say "hey is the air on". The driver stops the bus opens the hood, it's smoking and tells us the air compressor broke. The driver also told us they don't have all the proper pieces for the emergency exits because they're "too expensive to replace". They told us a replacement would be coming to pick us up, except 2 SUVs pulled up, not enough to fit our now 14 people with belongings. We were then told a limo is also coming, which would drop us all off and the broken bus (once fixed) would come to pick us up at the end of the night. We were told all this nonsense would take 10 minutes, 40 minutes later the cars are here and ready...so we thought. Devin informed us "they didn't know we wanted the bus to stay the whole time". Which is odd because the bus was paid for hourly for the duration of picking us up, staying to tailgate, staying for the concert AND bringing us home. At this point all of us were very confused because it was clearly stated when the booking was made we would be tailgating and then going into the concert. Luxury Transport Tampa is now refusing to provide us a refund, even though we were unable to use their services which were fully discussed and paid for prior to the day of the reservation. TAKE YOUR BUSINESS ELSEWHERE, DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS UNPROFESSIONAL COMPANY.

In the beginning the communication was good and we confirmed the ride the day before. The morning of the pickup we were already outside with luggage, wedding dress at 4am. Eight minutes past our pickup time I texted and called with no answer or reply. I called 3 more times between 4:08 and 4:23 with no answer. We were forced to call an uber that was 30 min away. With a very long travel day ahead of us and the added stress of making it to the airport in time was not how we wanted to start our day. One and half hours later i finally received several calls from Joseph. 12 calls back to back. I texted him back and told him we were in a Uber and had nothing to say to him. I had to tell him twice to stop calling me. He said he had an emergency with his daughter and didn't have his phone with him. He did offer to pay for our uber and give us a free ride when we returned but after this first experience we are not willing to give Tuffys a second chance. Plus, uber was cheaper.
