How can a rental company allow you to make a reservation only for you to show up and they don't have a vehicle for you? That's what Hertz Rentals on Speedway did to me. The attendants on staff were unprofessional and rude and gave no alternatives or offered any assistance beyond calling their corporate number. I called and corporate insisted the Speedway location had vehicles available. They even asked to speak with the attendants, so I put them on speakerphone. They both argued back and forth about their inventory. I don't know what's wrong, but this company needs to go out of business. They aren't doing much business anyway and everyone "working" acts like they have better things to do anyway. Let's just say, I wouldn't recommend them. You're better off elsewhere. read more

After being gone for a while from using this Hertz location, I recently returned for a local trip that I had planned. The online booking was easy via the APP. The pick up was smooth and so was the return. During the pick up of my reservation I was asked to sign off on pictures of the vehicle I was assigned to rent, even before visually seeing thr car myself or with staff. After respectfully waiting to sign until after I did a walk through, I was out the door. This location used to be alot more inviting, friendly and all around customer service oriented. Now, its quite different. Just makes me realize how many other options are available to me as a preferred customer to shop elsewhere. read more

I reserved a Tesla model 3 days in advance. I took a 35 minute uber ride there. And when I went in, they didn't have it. I wish they'd call you to let you know they don't have it. Or at least not let you reserve specific vehicles on the uber driver platform. If I specifically reserved a Tesla model 3, and it says it's not available for another few days, I'm going to reasonably expect that on the day of, it'll be available. read more

Do not rent a car from Hertz! We rented a car for five days. We waited forever to get a car we already reserved. The car was dirty and leaked oil all over our carport. The day after return I went to check the bank account, and we got double charged for "Premium Package" that they said we had agreed to. We did not, so my wife called them and they said that they would only refund $200.00 because there was other insurance fees added after the return. Do Not Rent a car from Hertz! They suck! read more

Flew into the Tucson airport, asked the desk agent if they had any cars available they said no, but said to come to this location they have some. We were able to book through the Hertz app for this location. Took a $40 uber from the airport to this Hertz location only to be told oh you have a reservation? That doesn't matter because we have zero cars.. okay? How is that possible? Asked to get our reservation printed just to have a hard copy, the manager that was hiding out in his office instead of helping his employees deal with the frustrated customers comes out and is absolutely useless, tells us he can't print OUR reservation because it has other peoples information on it?! Excuse me? Asked for an uber to the airport they said they do not do that, but while I'm sitting there another woman asks and he books it for her. One star is too much. The car was clean and new. They gave it an oil change. We had to wait a little bit to get the car but nothing crazy. The customer service was nice picking up rental. O'Rielly Chevrolet set up the rental through a purchase order on a warranty item. Our issue is Hertz trying to charge us an exorbitant amount for fuel. I picked up the car at 1:30pm from Hertz off Speedway and dropped it at O'Rielly Chevrolet at 9:15am next day. The car had half a tank same as I dropped off. Hertz is accusing us of dropping it off on empty. The tank had 250 miles till empty and we drove it 90 miles ish. The charged us $92.17 for gas. We never drove close to 230 miles. When we called the manager Brandon to discuss he was zero defect. Not a problem solver or a customer service guy. We asked them to email photos and a receipt and they will not do it. I already left a review on Google, but I'm also posting here on Yelp because that's how annoyed and frustrated I am with this experience. I just tried picking up a car after spending $20 on an Uber to get here for my scheduled online reservation. When I arrived, they told me they didn't have any vehicles available--no heads-up, no apology, not even a basic discount or attempt to make it right. The other reviews weren't exaggerating: the customer service here is awful. The staff have terrible attitudes, act like they hate their jobs, and can barely make eye contact when speaking to you. It's uncomfortable and honestly just a dreadful place to deal with. To the owner--if you're reading this, I hope it hits home how much of a failure this whole process was. I spent another $20 just to get back home because your team can't honor a simple reservation. I don't know how this place is still in business. Completely unprofessional. I seriously hope the Uber car program either opens its own pickup location or drops this place entirely. if I could give negative stars I would, the absolute worst customer service and they could care less if THEY put you in danger with the rental. We brought our car back due to the wheel literally beginning to come off because they didn't put it on correctly and all they did was blame us and say we should have complained day 1 not days later, because bolts couldn't possibly loosen over the course of driving. Had their mechanics done their job correctly and torqued the bolts we wouldn't have had an issue. They take no accountability and blame their customers. absolutely disgusting. The agent I dealt with at this location was excellent. Unfortunately, if you go there to rent for ride share, I found issues: 1) the car I rented had lots of animal hair in it, and it smelled like someone had been smoking in it; 2) the rental agreement (Section 5.6) does not allow the cars to be used for hire, even though I went through the Uber Market Place to reserve this car specifically for ride share; 3) No one was available on the weekend to discuss the issue, which I assumed was just an oversight (the agreement), but I didn't want to test the assumption; 4) Someone from Hertz reached out after I returned the car. They made some adjustments, but did not explain the issue with the rental agreement. 5) Just be careful and make sure everything, including the insurance is documented and explained in full. read more

Got a great deal on a rental from this location through Expedia. The location is a 25 minute Uber ride from the airport, but the price was too good to pass up. I was a bit concerned about the distance from the airport, especially when it came to timing up the return to be sure that I made my flight out. If you are running a tight schedule, maybe consider using the airport counter instead. Got a mid-size SUV. At pickup the outside of the car could have used a better wash. It was clear that somebody tried, but just couldn't conquer the Arizona dust with one run through the wash. The inside was clean so no major complaints. Contacting the specific office with their phone system was not easy, so I ended up stopping by mid-week to get my questions about drop-off answered by the guys. Three stars for the overall experience, but.... I'm adding an extra star for the service from Andy and Brenden. Nice guys to deal with, and the pickup and drop off both took just a few minutes, which really meant a lot to me considering the schedule I was on. It is a small rental office, but these guys make the best of it. read more

Not a very good experience. I wish I'd seen these negative reviews before I went here, but I didn't see them. The customer service is not that great and could be vastly improved. The car they gave me was dirty!! It had a full tank of gas which was nice. But the car was dirty!!! There was a hairnet or something left in the car from who knows when. There were crumbs in the cup holders. There was sticky residue on the door handle and steering wheel etc etc... Yuck!! I had to wipe down the car, which is something the staff there should be doing, not the customer. Next time I definitely won't come here again! Wish I'd gone to another company instead. not sure why I'm spending time to even write this as this place clearly sucks based on its reviews. but yes it is as bad if not worse than you imagine. when I went to go pick up vehicle I had to ask for a different vehicle as the clothe seats in the first one were absolutely terrible. the guy changes me(never gets out of his chair or anything) the second vehicle still has dirty clothe seats and ripped floor board where driver foot pushes but it's significantly better so I just take it. my flight was delayed so I came a day later causing my rental to be 6 days instead of 7. so where I thought my rental was going to cost like 285 through the uber app they ended up charging me 510. 65 dollar outside washing. which when I called and asked about they said that's inside cleaning and it was dirty. (was in same shape I received it) and 65 dollars per day x 6 days because I returned it before a week I get daily charged which is more. you would expect a company like hertz to be willing to work with people and do what's right but this place is the complete opposite of that. would not recomend them. Drove to California on a flat tire constantly refilling from the beginning of getting this car. The car sucked. Customer service sucks. They overcharge me somehow. 300 extra dollars. I would give 0 stars if I could. The rental process was a headache from start to finish, thanks to the worker named Andy. Given a FILTHY car. He lied to us saying he talked to the hertz manager at the airport and we could exchange the car there. Get to the airport and she tells us that Andy never called her to begin with and they were already overbooked. Wasted our time and energy trying to get the car switched. Then I get charged $135 for adding a driver after being told that there was no charge. I was given a filthy sentra with a cracked windshield, broken rims, and a flat tire. I told them the car was not acceptable or safe. they told me they didnt have any cars and if i wanted to exchange it I need to drive it to the airport to exchange it. The airport did not have any cars, i found this out only after calling customer service for an hour and attempting to drive the damaged and unsafe vehicle until the flat tire light started flashing and I had to turn around to return it. Now I am without a vehicle and have to pay double to rent last minute, day of, from another company because hertz ran out of vehicles and thought it was appoproate to rent a death trap with cracked window, rims falling off, and flat tire. The staff has 0 customer service skills, and good luck getting a hold of an actual human calling the 1800 numbers. this place has the worst customer service I've ever dealt with anywhere. The rental agent had an insolent attitude. He asked for my drivers license. I showed it to him. Then he accused me of throwing my wallet at him. My insurance company pays for the rental 100%, yet these idiots wanted me to pay 20% of the rental. he thought that I would be forced to rent from him because enterprise currently did not have any cars. I'm not that hard up to rent that I'm gonna deal with Hertz. Unfortunately, I didn't get the rental agents name but he was about 25 years old with long shoulder length brown hair. If I was his boss, I would fire him immediately. He lied to me at least three times about different things. I do not appreciate being lied to right in front of my face. This rental location absolutely sucks. I did not see a Hertz email and clicked on hertz website and it gave me a reserve number with the original dates I requested. The staff did not have any answer why I was charged and did not have a reserve. Then then I saw the charge at a Dollar car email. My husband and I reserved a minivan through Hertz for a one-way trip from Illinois to Arizona. We returned the minivan today to the Hertz location at 5905 E. Speedway Blvd., Tucson, AZ. The customer service was great throughout the rental process. It was convenient and simple to book online and pick up was easy. The vehicle was in good condition, and we had no problems during our long trip. Another big plus is we were able to pick the minivan up from a neighborhood location close to my parents' home and drop the vehicle off at a neighborhood location in Tucson, both of which were MUCH more convenient than having to go to the airport (which other rental companies we checked were requiring). Upon our arrival in Tucson, we brought the minivan back earlier than the rental period stated on our rental contract. The gentleman who checked us in, Joey, could not have been more courteous and professional. He definitely went above and beyond when asked if we could be credited for the early return. I have rented vehicles many times over the years, but never with the level of customer service we received today. The next time I need to rent a vehicle, I'm going straight to Joey. It is evident that he cares about his customers, making the rental experience easy and pleasant and getting repeat business. I don't write many reviews, but others who are shopping for a rental vehicle should definitely consider Hertz. Thank you and kudos, Joey and Hertz, for making our day! read more

Last Friday I needed a car to go out of town on an emergency and I really didn't want to drive my car because it has high miles. So I went online I booked through Hertz at a location that was close to me and thought it was taken care of, unfortunately I had to work a little bit late on Friday and was going to be about 30 minutes late to pick up the car so I called Hertz and let them know the gentleman that I spoke to on the phone was very rude and said that he wasn't even sure that he would have a car by the time I got there. I thought this was strange because again I have a reservation so I rushed through my last appointment to get to the location as quickly as possible just to find out that in fact, they had canceled my reservation and have no cars. I asked to speak to the manager his name was Andrew I believe Never in this world have I experienced such rudeness from any other human being. His assistant was a very large man, and really just seemed like it was too much for me to ask him to do his job to find me another car. He even gave me a huff when I asked him that he was too good to get up off of his big behind, now I have no car and no reservation to even get a car. Needless to say I was very upset. The manager kept saying well it's just our policy. You have to take it up with corporate. There was another lady in there trying to rent a car before I left I said I would rent a car any other place but here if I were you. I left and went down the street to enterprise Rent-A-Car. I sat and waited there for a little while and I started talking to a gentleman that was there before me and he had been at the same Hertz location and experienced the exact same thing I did. So the people at enterprise helped him and I'm waiting for my turn, and the lady that I had seen at Hertz and had spoken to was now there at enterprise. Rent-A-Car cause again hertz. Employees had screwed her over. And given her car to someone else, she also had a reservation. Hers was to get her to the airport so she could fly out to get home. Unfortunately, she missed her flight and had to book lodging. I do not understand why it is so difficult just to rent a car from Hertz Used to be the easiest thing. Maybe it's just this location or just these particular two employees Andrew should never be a manager. I believe he should be at a place where they ask would you like fries with that and the very large man that was at the counter. I don't know exactly what to say about him, except for he's definitely should not be dealing with the public because he has no skill at it. Beware of this Hertz location go anywhere else these people do not care about anything it seems. One person getting their reservation canceled at location. I can see that but three on the same afternoon, this is absolutely ridiculous. I asked can you call another location and help me - no. Can you cancel my reservation - no you'll have to call the main number on the reservation. I thought I was in an alter world. Hertz??? The car was fine. The rest was substandard in all respects. After waiting for the one person on duty at this Hertz location for over five minutes while she spoke on the phone, I found out that the man talking to the woman from the collision company housed in the same place was actually in line before me for Hertz. Two others arrived after me. Angelina took care of the man in front of me and then began to help me. Her phone rang and she not only answered it, she took care of that person while the other two customers and I waited. Next, she sold me the "pay for a full tank of gas" ahead of time option rather than filling up before I returned the vehicle. Little did I suspect that the car had less than 1/4 tank of gas. I noticed it after I was on my way. Two days later my car repairs were completed. When I called the Hertz on Oracle (spoke to Kevin) since they were open on Saturday, I was advised that I could leave the car at Precision Toyota. Great! I did indeed. After several days without the correct amount (not the inflated amount they held on my credit card) showing up on my account, I called the Oracle office and Kevin said he had no knowledge of my car being left at Precision. Said they dealt almost exclusively with the Precision Collision Center. And I was supposed to know this how? He said he would get the car and take off the full tank of gas that had been charged to me. It's now Thursday and my account still reflects the $400 plus being held for the rental. So, I called the 22nd St office and spoke to Amanda. Amanda has obviously not been trained in customer service. She put it back on me that I should have told them my car was at Precision Service Center and not the Collision Center. Really? I told them where it was AND the address when I let them know I had returned it. She told me they "always usually" dealt with the Collision Center. So, which is it? Always? or usually? It certainly can't be both. She was aggrieved that I expected them to have picked up the car and finished my charge by now. I'm done with Hertz! read more

We rented a car from this location in early May. It was very dirty. The agent told us this location doesn't have a way to wash cars but said if we washed it they would reimburse us. The inside looked okay until I got home and opened the trunk. It was littered with pine needles and leaves. When we returned it there was a surprise $100 charge on the bill. After getting that taken off they tried to add another $15 by claiming an energy surcharge. So I showed them the original agreement already included the charge. Haggling with them took almost 20 minutes! I never was reimbursed for the car wash. I emailed two executives at Hertz including the CEO (Paul Stone pstone@hertz.com) and no one replied. Hertz used to be the gold standard for car rentals but this is the worst experience I've had in decades. read more

OK folks. This is the worst rental car agency I have ever worked with. I rent cars all the time. First time with Hertz. I got the "manager's special" and that meant luck-of-the-draw--whatever car they had available. It was a Chrysler Pacifica, which is fine. But the car was filthy, had not been washed, and had an insulting "Gold Star Clean!" sticker on the door. Hilarious. It also had a huge dent in the passenger side door, but no one came out with me to inspect the car, so I am on my own I guess. Absolutely filthy windows, dust covering the dashboard, sticky stuff everywhere. So all that is bad enough. (I did submit an online complaint and have not heard back.) Unfortunately I had to extend my rental by two days, so I called the number and was informed that if I did it by phone, it would incur a $10 charge. Fine, I went back and tried it online, and it told me that to extend the rental by two days it would be--no joke--$1012 dollars. So I called. To extend it two days over the phone added $300 onto my rental. This entire thing has been a nightmare and I warn you, I beg you, do NOT do Hertz. read more

The young man at the desk attempted to help but was shackled by his manager that avoided speaking directly to us. Hertz took no responsibility and did nothing to rectify the situation or assist. I booked a car for my mom. I requested a compact car. The day we go pick it up they said they didn't have any compact cars and going to put my mom in a truck, suv, or mustang and charged us $15 extra per day. I paid for my mom to get this car. It was suppose to only be $70 something dollars. Ended up paying $155. I booked this car two days in advance. A courtesy call would of been nice. At least inform us of what they didn't have the car instead of when we showed up. Won't rent again. Oh and the guy charged us $358 but later on hertz took out $409 this place is a rip off. read more

After spending more than a couple hours trying to get a rental for a mini van picked up that was set up through insurance, it wasn't till much later that the lady there said she didn't have a van. First 2 times, she couldn't even find our reservation which by the way was actually there after all that. Hertz in the whole City of Tucson couldn't check their systems, and apparently after wasting an afternoon tells us they didn't have a van but could take our name and put us on a list. This Hertz off-airport location is very poorly ran just like it seems many of the other off-airport locations are. I booked a car rental for a week online, went to pick up the car and was told they are out of cars and theres a 5 person waiting list. Every other non airport location was out of cars as well. I called corporate and the customer service representative told me that if they were doing their inventory correctly, then the website would show they were sold out and stop allowing people to make reservations. I was also supposed to be contacted by the area manager, which has not happened yet. Needless to say, I wasted time and money on Uber to come up there and get a reserved car that was not available. I Have not gotten any apology, restitution, remarks from anyone at the company. I will make sure to NEVER rent from them in Tucson again. Also, I'm pretty sure the employees are driving the rental cars themselves and/or giving them away to friends/family without charging the correct price which would explain their inventory being incorrect. read more
